Until then I post some pictures of a cat I met when I spent 3 days in Malta.

I arrived there on 13th Friday and found a black cat on the balcony.

Later we became friends and I let him into my room and he occupied my bed...

On the last day he came into my room and played with my bag

I will never forget the way he looked at me when I left...
Olga,
I hope those dogs find a good home it is always a shame when they have to be kept in cages. The black cat is amazing, I don't think I have seen one so dark as that before, I think Sooty would be a good name for for him. I notice that you were there on Friday 13th which is supposed to be an unlucky day here in the UK. However, we also have a saying that a black cat is lucky. So I guess he was sent there to protect you from misfortune. They are very good photos, are you using a digital camera?
Brian,
I believe that for those dogs it's better to be in cages than to be put to sleep. They have food, shelter and they are walked regularly. Eventually each of them will find a good owner. Most people want young dogs, but it's so touching when somebody adopt an old four-legged friend.
CATS! It's a different story, I love them!
I don't know what was the name of this black gentleman but he obviously was kept well, just look at his fur and shape! Actually when he showed up on Friday 13th I had butterflies in my stomach.
The number 13 'devil's dozen' is believed to be unlucky in most Christian countries, maybe due to number of guest at Last Supper. (I made a real quick research on the net and found out that even ancient Greeks were familiar with the fear of this number and called it triskaidekaphobia).
What's for my camera it's a digital camera PENTAX. I wish I had a professional one but this will do too.
Olga,
I know that the dogs are well cared for but it is always nice to know that they have found a good home where they can roam free. Yes, I can see that Sooty was well cared for, it must have been difficult to say goodbye to him. Thanks for the information on the camera as I am thinking of buying one and photographic examples are a good indication of a camera's ability.
Incidentally, your pictures of lake Balaton remind me of when I would often buy a wine from the region, some years ago, called Balatoni.
The cat is adorable, an overused word in my lexicon, I know. He reminds me of my cat, puck, also black, although he's getting on a bit in years.
I spent only 3 days in Malta and took over 30 pictures of cats.
Here are some of them:

She enticed people into the glass shop.

Then as soon as the shop keeper left the counter she took his place... on the top of the counter.
I would like to introduce Boris, my cat.

Any pictures of your four-legged friends?
This is the way my cat Panteleimon drinks. Do other cats drink this way?

That's an interesting picture of a cat drinking with his paw. My cat will sometimes drink from her water bowl, that I keep clean and full for her, but she often goes to the bird bath in the garden and drinks from that for preference.
Thanks Brian! Well, when we got the parrot they (we had two cats then) were intrigued, but obviously realised that he was different from all the other birdies outside...seeing as he got prime spots in the lounge and on the 'stoep' (veranda I guess) and he got loads of attention. He also screeched a lot when he was a baby which put them off. Occasionally they would venture coming closer to sniff him, or they would walk past the cage (over the armrest next to it), but he is totally fascinated by them, so every time they come close he wants to play and then plunges forward only to get mouthfulls of their fur or tails...something they don't appreciate  So they stay away from him since they assosciate him with pain :D
There are neibourhood cats who stalk him every now and then, but when they come close he calls one of us and makes a lot of noise (a specific one, so we now he is freaking out about something). There are hawks and an eagle as well...so we have to always keep an eye, and ear, out...and when we are out we put him in his cage in the lounge.
Thanks Olga, my pleasure! She's a girl, Tinka. She's very sweet and affectionate and a proper lady...an old lady actually although she doesn't look it :)
Yes, that large beak is a pretty good way of keeping predatory felines at bay. I was watching some people feeding some gulls down on the coast recently and it occurred to me that they could seriously damage humans, were they to attack in force to get hold of the food, because they are very big birds with long powerful beaks. Similarly, if pigeons were to attack cats in sufficient numbers, they would soon have them on the run.
Here is a picture I took in Valletta

and in Kyrenia
http://www.online-literature.com/for...1&d=1278535012
I just found this article
There are many cats and pigeons in Kyrenia and I noticed that these creatures divided the area of the local harbour, of course cats occupied the territory closer to restaurants and fisher-boats where they are more likely to get some food, while pigeons can be found on promenade.
Thanks TurquoiseSunset, the article made me laugh!
This picture was taken on the same day when I pictured pigeons in Kyrenia.

I laughed too at that article although I doubt if my Milly would have let the gull share her 'whiskers'.
This picture is taken from a book about Corsica and shows a fisherman with a reception party who have waited for him to start cleaning his catch.

After all that running around - taking a rest.
Yes she is beautiful, when I look at her I am reminded of Theophile Gautier's words about his own cat "Who can believe that there is no soul behind those luminous eyes".
I have always used the same vet since I bought her and she has a steroid injection each year to stop her scratching her face and also an anti-feline enteritis injection, so she has to go twice a year. She hates going but she is beginning to get used to it now.
