Hello everyone, my name is Maela. I am Julie (aka Elizabeth)'s best friend.

She's in the hospital right now. She had a major pulmonary neuralgia last week and is now under artificial respiration. She can't go out and doctors say she might not be able to breathe by herself again...
This is a very difficult time for us all. She wanted me to say a few words to some of you and asked me to change her avatar to her former one, the one she would like to be remembered by...

Oh sweetie I am so sorry you are so sick. My heart hurts to hear this news. I know we don't know eachother too well and I too wish that I would have been around more to get to know you a little more through all your posts. You are very loved here and I am sure I speak for more here than just myself that the tears are coming down and the prayers will be going up. Sweetie we love you so much and I pray you get better soon...we will be thinking about you.

When you had been getting sick in the past I am afraid I did not think it was as serious as it is. I am so sorry.

My heart goes out to you. I take it you are on some sort of ventilator. Persevere, my darling. You can conquer it. My father was on it for over a year, and people do come off. You are young, and that is a great advantage. If it is difficult to come back to lit net, I will always remember that virtual dance we had. Remember? You tried to teach me to dance. And I was blushing, dancing with such a beautiful young lady.

Get well soon and I shall look forward to when you come back.

Have you known Elizabeth for a long time?

I am afraid I am not very familiar with medical terminology and I am not sure what 'pulmonary neuralgia' is. NHS mentions Neuralgia but not the pulminary one. Anyone knows?

Likewise, my research turns up nothing. Still, the nature of the disease doth not concern me so as the welfare of the angel afflicted.

Scheherazade, I am sorry if I have difficulties to explain but translating from French is quite tough for me and I'm not very good, neither in English nor in medicine.
'Elizabeth' has been ill and fragile since she was born. Her lungs are not strong enough to handle her breathing correctly. From what I have understood of the Doctors diagnostic, they call pulmonary neuralgia the fact that she often has pneumothoraxes, leading the walls of her lungs to be torn little by little.
This time, her lungs even bled, that's why she had to go to the hospital.
The Doctors think breathing is too tiring for her, that she has no strength left to do it by herself. Moreover, it would be dangerous for now.
All we can hope for, right now, is that she may have some strength back and be allowed to have medical care at home, even with the ventilator.

I know Julie for about ten years now, and I love her deeply... I know how much this forum means to her and I am glad you are here for her.
I can assure you that she really is courageous and do her best to hold on.

I also would like to tell that she still is interested in the forum threads, which I print and read to her whenever I can.

One last thing, she was worried about Rachel and Eva. Does someone have news about them?

Eva is currently MIA. I've no news or knowledge of her. Rachel isn't on these forums anymore, but I'm sending her this thread at her request. She's got Julie's addresses so I'm sure she will be hearing from her soon. :)

If it drains her of any energy at all, ask her not to do it, then! It's enough to know that she got it. Asking things of her in this dread time is unimaginably selfish.

I'm glad this is a sticky now! I hope that Julie will get better and that the doctors will be able to help her. It's nice to see so many people offering their support, I hope that it all helps her to stay strong knowing that everybody cares about her, whether or not we know her very well. Get better soon :) We're rooting for you!

I'm sorry I cannot go to the hospital every day because I have to attend lectures at University, for me but for her as well. I can't act as if she would never come back...
Her family join me in thanking you and send their blessing.
They told me she was quite tired but still strong in her mind.

Julie was pretty exhausted by the many analyses they are doing on her, to find something that could help. She was asleep most of the day but still sends her love and deepest thanks to all of you.
