What 2 Jane Austen book characters you admire or even dislike, do you
(seriously or humorously) most relate to and please say why for each one mentioned.
I would have to say Elizabeth and Darcy from Pride and Prejudice I relate to the most.
Elizabeth becasue she does seem to have a bit of an independent streak for the age that she is living in, and becasue she does speak her mind and would not be conent to be with someone unless she truly loved them.
Darcy becasue he seems to be a bit anti-social, and does not seem to really care that much for his society. He also seems to be a bit sarcastic but still of a noble nature.
I dislike Caroline Bingly sister the most as well as Mr. Darcy's Widow friend, whose name I cannot rememeber off the top of my head. And they both appear to snobbish and too materilistic as well as selfish.
Emma Woodhouse because I am more or less as spoilt rotten as she is. I tend to look at the world as if I can mold it to what shape as long as it pleases me.
Catherine Morland because I used to lack worldliness, and if I still do then poor me. I see the world sometimes as if it was the last movie I saw or the last novel I read. I expect too much of people.
Lady Catherine DeBourgh? or do you mean the one who's always hanging around with Caroline Bingley? Mrs Whatsname, but is she a widow?
me too and for the same reasons :) I've only read P&P and Persuasion though and am reading Emma at the moment.
another character I don't like is Mr Bingley. I mean I like him a lot better than the two ladies above or Emma, but his naivety and permanent niceness are so annoying .
Lady Catherine DeBourgh is the one whom I ment. Though I also did not like the woman who hung out with Caroline either.
I thought Bingley was just too easily influneced by his so called friends, and did not much think for himself.
hehe, the actor who plays Bingley in the BBC mini series looks like such a clown with his red cheeks and blond curls :D his looks exactly match Bingley's character :)
I relate the most to aunt Gardener who is content to not be in the forefront and who tries to reason things out; and Mrs Weston, formerly Miss Taylor, Emma's nursemaid and companion. I like to see order and I love to think that all those I love are happy. And I am loyal to those I am fond of.
I think Anne Elliot from Persuasion because sometimes I let myself be influenced by others too easily. And maybe Mr Darcy because I sometimes can come out as proud because I don't say too much. I preffer to express myself through writing rather than words.
i think i relate to the most to ms. darcy from pride and prejudice because ,just like him , i don't speek to much , i rather observe the others , i might pass as a proud person. Darcy is my favorite character in the world.
sorry, i meant to say Mr Darcy
Anne Elliott and Elinor Dashwood.
I am a lot like Elisabeth Bennett in the sense that I like to make witty remarks to men too conceited
On the other hand sometimes I am a lot like Marianne Dashwood, very passionate about love.
emma and elizabeth bennett both for their independent spirit and use of intellect
I can relate quite well to Eleanor Dashwood. We both tend to hold our true feelings inside, because we don't want to displease anyone. Also, I have a similarly close relationship with my sister, and I understand her desire to protect Marianne from the ills of the world. Eleanor is my favorite Austen character.
Oddly enough, my other character to relate to would be Marianne Dashwood. I share her passion for words, and I often find myself having fantasies about Mr. Right, even though I know that love will end up being a little more sensible and less... ideal.
Sense and Sensibility is like my life. =P
