You better run before I belt you. (He and many other parents of my culture still resolve to sadism in educating children.)

Friday, May 25, 1956: "Your mother is taking me to the hospital today. You kids be good, and help your mother. Everything is going to be o.k."
Sunday, May 27, 1956: My father died. I was 11; my brothers were 15 and 8.
You know what? Everything did turn out o.k. - eventually.
Don't fall out of anything above a second story window.
"Don't screw up"
"Never spit into the wind"
"be strong... get up everytime you fall... even if you think you can't..."
this really hit me hard when i was about six or seven... i fell down from my bycicle, expecting my dad to help me out... he just stood there and told me to be strong... i could hardly walk... but i was glad i managed to get up and pick up my bike...
So how are the Philippines?
In my younger and more vulnerable years my father gave me some advice that I've been turning over in my mind ever since.
"Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone," he told me, "just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the same advantages that you've had."

simon, thanks for asking... my country is in deep **** right now... (i hate to admit that)... everyone is trying to save everything from money to power to food... even a breath of fresh air... the damn government is trying to impose taxes on everything... someday my children will have to pay for the air they breathe... :banana:Quote:
