I read all yor previous posts but i had not time to answer or comment (too much work the last two days). It seems you have seen a lot of Dickens adaptations. :) I'll just have to wait for this one (i want to read the book first).

Last movies i watched " Big Lebowski" by Kohen bros 10 /10 (i don't know how many times i've seen this one. I have lost counting. It makes me laugh so much.)

I also saw "Dangerous Liaisons" but not the movie. A mini series with Catherine Deneuve. 6/10

:wave: yes it is the norm. been like this since i had really bad sinus and chest infection last may. I also got the intercostal neuralgia in my chest from then. I'm falling to peices!:lol:

:wave: Hi Manolia, No problem, seems everyone, on my regular threads, were missing yesterday or it was quite sparse on here, as least to me. People are working or starting their gardens and cleaning up their yards, I would imagine.
I don't own these films personally, but the thing is my library does and that is less than a mile away. I can take them out anytime I please, so I think of them as my extended collection - pretty neat eh? They don't charge a penny for checking them out. They have thousands of films!
I never saw "Big Lebowski" but I always seem to see the previews on other videos of that film, and I laugh. I suppose I should watch it sometime, but mainly I seem to go for the serious stuff, probably the 'tragerian' in me.
I saw "Dangerous Liaisons" a good while ago, think twice at least, but the film starring Glen Close and John Malchovitch. It was quite good. I did not know "Catherine Deneuve" did the film, too. I like her and think her very beautiful and would love to see that version. I bet it was good, especially being a full length miniseries. I like those best, they usually stay truer to the book.

Niamh, you poor darling:( . How can you be sick so long? You should go to a nose, ear, and throat specialist. My friend had a similiar problem and she had to have her nose operated on. Hope I am not scaring you but, the infection would not go away any other method. You are too young to suffer on and on with it. I have to look that second aliment up - not familiar with it. I have hienal hernia, just a small one, discovered recently. I do tend towards indigestion quite often and take something for it. I, too, am falling to pieces, but I have an excuse - I am getting old!

Well, it sound so familiar I am sure I have seen it. I don't recall all the films I have seen now in my lifetime. I started to make a list and it got so long and hard to manage. I still have it but need to update it and organise each genre better.
You know, Niamh, I was around during the 70's,....and the 60's and the....50's........hate to admit that......yikes I am getting old:bawling:

I probably have seen a lot more Irish films, but can never recall them all on the spot. I like them very much.:D

You are very lucky. I have already done some research on the films you mentioned in this thread and i can't trace all of them in my local dvdclub, plus they charge them 1.5 euro per day.

I usually don't choose funny films, but yesterday i was so depressed and tired that i needed one badly. Speaking of comedies, i love the works of Monty Pythons and the english series "The Black Adder". They make me laugh sooo much. Very clever guys with great and witty sense of humour.

I see, you have seen the best adaptation. I haven't seen this one but i have heard it is very nice. I actually went for the one with Glen Close (the one you mention) but there was a ..mistake in the dvdclub so i ended up with this one. I also like Deneuve. I adore the Luis Bunuel films she has made when she was young. I have seen lots of french movies in my life. She starred in some of the best.

It doesnt bother me really. Intercostal neuralgia is a pain i get in my chest caused by a nerve in my spine reacting to a weak mussle between two ribs. I've also got two other neuralgias; Sciatica in my left leg and one in my right foot. One tends to get use to the pain after a while. Sciatica hasnt aggravated in a while and the intercostal only crops up now and then. The one in my foot is the most recent so therefore is a constant aggravation at the mo. But like the others will ease off.
Hopefully you will recover soon Janine. And dont for get you are only as old as you feel.;) (i'm Ancient!:lol: )

Watched the itv/utv dramatisation of persuasion today. Rupert Penry Jones...what i always imagined wentworth to be!*swoons*:blush:
they kind of aultered the story somewhat but i enjoyed it all the same!
If we took both the wentworth and the Anne Eliot out of this one and put them in the other one done by the bbc(one with dude from mayor of casterbridge) it would be better!(with a bit of eye candy!)

Sorry I can't share them with you, M. I tell myself everyday how very lucky I am to have such a great library system. Actually my library is old and quite small compared to some really wonderful big ones in our part of the state. But we get them free and someplaces pay a fee, so I can't complain, plus they belong to the full system where they pay a fee to have about 500 rotating ones each month. It's a feast to my eyes! Some just came in and I have to go today to check them out. Of course, I have already seem so many they offer, but usually I can find new ones I have not seen. Besides I like re-watching, anyway.

M,I usually don't watch them either, but I do like them - like black comedy, and Rom.Coms., other types. However, I love the "Monty Python" stuff and my friend lend me her "Black Adder" DVD's and I laughed and laughed. I just recently watched "The Holy Grail" and "Life of Brian" again and laughed and laughed, too. They are cult films now. I used to watch them with my son in the 80's. We loved them. I enjoyed the extra stuff on the "Grail" DVD, and you learn how they did the films and about the guys and the locations. I now appreciate even more some of the lines since I understand them better - they really were quite smart and witty. My library also just got in 16 set of the TV show DVD's. So far I only took out No.1 disc which is 3 of the skits or shows...very funny indeed!

Oh, my, I have that sciatica, too and now in both legs, as well. It is due to stenosis in my back, due to artitrisis, I have been told....usual at my age. But Niamh, how did you get it? Exercises will really help, you know - certain ones, not all. I went to physical therapy and they taught me the right ones for my condition; I got way better and now I have had a relapse, my own fault, I failed to keep up the execises; they are low impact and easy actually, just take a little time. I am going to maybe go back to therapy now, to get back on track. It helps amazingly. You should look into it.
Well, my friend was talking about a fellow high school classmate and how old she looks - almost 60. Then we laughed hysterically since we are almost 60 - just 3 yrs away from it. We don't think of ourselves that age at all. My friend said she is planning a 'nervous breakdown' on her birthday.:lol:

That is the great part about MP shows. Long after you see them, you laugh at the scenes in your mind. My friend and I laughed all evening once. He can impersonate them perfectly and knows most of the lines. My son used to do that also and crack me up. My friend Lynne, gets hysterical over the knight with the loped off limbs. She will tell you again and again about that scene, and she actually cries with tears of laughter. MP is a good tension reliever show!
Oh, that first scene in Brian with the mum - just too funny!... and then the 3 wisemen leaving and you see the real nativity. Is that a riot or what? Personally, I think the mum steels the show. I love that voice of hers/his:lol:

I remember now where I saw this guy of yours - Ruppert. I did take note how cute he was. He was in "Charlotte Gray" - I just watched that film about 2 weeks ago, for the second time. I thought I had not seen it, and got it from the library again by accident. It is a pretty good film. He played the pilot boyfriend of Charlotte, played by Cate Blanchett. There were some romantic scenes (steamy) with he and she in the beginning, but ultimately she goes for the dark haired guy. Whoops, probably giving away the ending, sorry. Otherwise, been researching the guy and he needs better roles. Lets campaign for him!:lol:

Well, I agree. I just like lighter complected men, such as with light brown hair to sandy blond. I like good hair too; I'm not for this "shaving all the hair off one's head look". I actually fell in love with Ken Branagh loving his hair. He and his hair look best in "Much Ado About Nothing" - he was sort of at his prime then and he was tanned from the Tuscan sun, really healthy looking, robust and sexy. Now he is getting older but I still swoon over him for some reason. But hey, if a guy is really cute enough, I can put up with a dark haired version. I love Joseph Finenes, too but I don't really care that much for his brother's looks...you know Ralph. Hey, and second, they have to have pretty blue eyes!:)
