i'll have to give that a viewing tailor so I can allude to it every once in awhile.
cereal used to be a staple for breakfast but for many years now I just do toast and tea. i'll have cereal sometimes for snacks, lunch or dinner---this week, maybe only 1 so far. I have about 20 boxes to work through, im a great clearance shelf shopper at big lots!
how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop??
-
Dang... just accomplished that a couple of months ago and wasn't counting; googling: Mathematicians at New York University says up to 1000 via a model/formula of some sort (which is way too high for my tastes :) ) but tootsie.com would prolly be the definitive source sourcing other studies with all reliable data being 148 - 252 licks by humans (there is a variance among sexes! and tootsie pop colors!), and with mechanical lickers being less efficient at 364 - 411 licks; see best data at... https://tootsie.com/core/files/toots...University.pdf
How many times have you visited Niagara Falls ? (me=0)
-
heck tailor I thought for sure you'd go with the old wise cartoon commercial owl, and say "three!"
I cant say for sure, but at least 2. its been a longggggggggggggg time though since my last visit.
if you ever get the chance tailor, both sides are great, but the Canadian side of the falls are a bit extra impressive.
how many sequels would you like to see made from movies you've enjoyed but that don't have any yet?
-
I'd like to see a complete remake of "Battlefield Earth"... Sequels?... most already have sequels... "The Time Machine".... "Citizen Kane"... "Wizard of Oz"... "Legend"... "Galaxy Quest"... that's all that I can think of off the top of my head.
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood ?
-
what would go on in your wizard of oz sequel?
I never found that to be the tongue twister its supposed to be, that is, ive always been able to say it really fast without mucking it up.
the old standby "toy boat" is a good one. and when I was a kid I "invented" "block box." try those three times fast.
lets see----all the woodland creatures are industrious little fellows but first, whats our operating definition of the word "chuck?"
how many kinds of ducks can you typically see in your neck of the woods (water)?
-
Oz - I've read Baum's stories over and over as late as a year or two ago. There are many that I would like to see produced in the same vein.
Block box is kind'a easy... reminds me of the SNL goreismicomical "Lock Box".
re: "chuck?" - perhaps karate chopping rounds into split wood and kindling à la Chuck Norris ? Splitting wood and kindling is very important in my neck of the woods.
Ducks - Nary a one recently... used to be a number of ducks (dozen+?) in the duck pond 1-mile up the road... but the owners, dear friends of mine, passed away... we took one of our grandsons there and had a picnic once when he was younger, and my father-in-law donated two rare white miniature ducks to them once that unfortunately disappeared after a short time. The pond is just on the side of our road and has a bridge that traverses it whereupon a large billy goat used to take naps. Mostly Canada Geese here nowadays, even in our two small ponds, though I do have a vague recollection of a duck or two, as well as turtles, in them years ago for a short time. Love to hear the Canada Geese trumpeting in flight throughout the day.
Same question ?
-
oh, I had forgotten about all the oz books, and I have many, if not all of them too. I just finished the western I was reading, started another last night that's small and im really enjoying so that's gonna go quick. the way im thinking now, i'll go check out my oz books next.
easy? three times fast easy?? how about the reverse? box block?
makes you wonder, since wood chucks don't "chuck wood" where on earth the name came from?
three kinds of wild ducks---mallards frequently in my pond, and sometimes on the nearby creeks and rivers. mergansers rarely on my pond, but more frequently in the creeks and rivers. and the oddly named black duck (because they aren't black!) on the nearby lake.
and then probably 3-4 different kinds of domestic ducks that people keep for their eggs.
so 6-7.
when I watch movies that require underwater breath holding for survival, I always pay attention to the time to see if I could survive in those same circumstances. how many seconds can you hold your breath underwater?
-
ducks :)
breath - not very long... maybe 2-minutes before I burst. I've heard of ama (1-degree of separation to James Bond) that exceed that time exceptionally.
How many James Bond books have you not read ?
-
two minutes is a really long time tailor. you are volunteered to make the initial dive to explore and set the lead rope for everyone else to follow!
ive read all the fleming ones (although I think there is a collection of short stories I haven't), some of the gardner and one of the deaver---but apart from fleming, I don't know how many others there are. id guess at least a half dozen or so?
I went to look at all my oz books. I have 7 total, and apparently there were 13. none of the ones I have had an order of publication listed in them, and I cant tell by the copyrights because they are all new versions without reference to the originals. do you know which book came right after the book that inspired the movie?
meanwhile, im going to read breakfast at tiffany's
we have all watched movies that has the same actor in it---how many times has a particular actor appeared the most in your movie watching?
-
The Marvelous Land of Oz... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Oz_books
Actor?... prolly James Hong: hundreds ?
How many Dr. Seuss book titles can you name quickly ?
-
thanks tailor, and im happy to tell you I have the first four. so when im finished with ttifany's i'll give book #2 a shot.
hmm, I wonder if maybe you misunderstood my question? you've seen James hong in hundreds of movies?
let see---grinch, lorax, Horton, green eggs, cat hat, cat back, one fish two fish, so 7. was go dog go a dr seuss book?
how many dr seuss movies have you seen?
-
James Hong has been in 500+ movies... he's everywhere !
"Horton Hears a Who", "The Grinch", "Cat in the Hat", "How The Grinch Stole Christmas", "The 5,000 Fingers Of Dr. T"... guess I haven't seen "The Lorax" 'cause it doesn't ring a bell... that makes 5.
So, "we have all watched movies that has the same actor in it---how many times has a particular actor appeared the most in your movie watching" other than James Hong ?
-
heck tailor I cant even picture James hong. i'll have to look him up next time im at the library...
the lorax---"I speak for the trees!"
its a tie between abbott and Costello in however many movies they made, ~24.
second place lags way behind and id guess its john wayne, Harrison ford, tom hanks, or Sylvester Stallone, with an outside chance of Keanu reeves and Arnold schwarzenegger.
how many times do you think you'll go out to the movies this summer?
-
Maybe one. Indiana Jones sounds good... and maybe that anywhere somewhere timeshare? movie if it's still playing.
How many of this year's best picture Oscar nominees' movies have you seen ?
-
I confess tailor I don't pay any attention to the academy awards so I never know whats been nominated. although I recently saw someone on jeopardy who in the anecdote/get to you know me part of the show mentioned she's made a point of watching every single "best picture" dating back to the beginning. I half think too that, my movie tastes are different than the academy's so the overlap would generally be small. id guess 0, maybe 1 or 2 at most but I wouldn't know which ones!
how many of the "fast and furious" movies have you seen?
-
googling "fast and furious"... hmmm, I viewed most of Fast Five at my sister-in-law's home, the one in Rio where they steal a safe from the police... (1)
How many years since you flew a kite ?
-
ive only seen 1 if hobbs and shaw count, but im not sure it does.
oh boy, wayyyyyyyy too many, probably 4 dozen at least. I have a pretty good yard for kite flying. maybeeeeee….
how about you?
-
About the same :(
How many coins are in your pocket right now ?...
If zero how long ago, the last time, did you have coins in your pocket ?
-
no coins right now, but I had some yesterday. so just 1 day. they don't stay there long though. when i get home i put them in a large antique jug with the intent of doing what with them when its full i know not yet.
if you were listening to instrumental versions of your favorite songs, for how many of them could you complete all (or most) of the lyrics?
-
songs: Not too many... my memory isn't as good as it used to be and now that I'm back in our choir it's proving to be problematical :(
How many rechargeable batteries are you reusing in your residence ?
-
no teleprompters in the choir! but surely songbooks yes?
just 4, and I think they are in a flashlight and an electric toothbrush, both of which I barely use.
imagine the tv shows you used to watch/still watch are of actual people and places, how many of them would you have liked to have been a part of?
ps: am reading the short stories in my breakfast at tiffany's book and when im through with that, i'll start the next oz book!
-
songbooks: My sight is rapidly degenerating (a whole lotta Ctrl + going on web-browsing); my printed copy of last Sunday's selection had to be noted and marked everywhere due to all the key changes and timings (I don't read music)... 'twas a very tricksie piece for basses. Luckily I was sent an .mp3 of the bass part to study. I could barely read out of my hymnal for the prelude song.
oz: :)
telly: hard to tell... been binging Barney Miller lately, nearing the end :( ... that would be a kick... Gilligan's Island (lol). To be part of all the Scifi shows would be cool as long as I didn't have to wear a red shirt.
How many people on Gilligan's Island can you relate to favorably ?
-
that's tough tailor, im sorry to hear that.
before I pick up oz I might finish my elvis Presley book too. its been really slow going and ive gotten to the point now where im just perusing stuff in order to move the story along. theres just way too much information.
there is a funny scene in the star trek reboot where kirk tells Chekov to go put on a red shirt, and Chekov kinda gulps and looks nervous, letting the fans know he knows that its not a good thing!
that's a fun question---on at least a distant level id say all of them, with mr and mrs Howell being a reach, and maybe Gilligan too a bit. how many times did he wreck their chances for rescue? 143?? in some ways, the skipper is a saint! the professor annnnnd mary annnn however are easy ones. i can easily imagine being friends with them, having them as neighbors, etc. skipper and ginger in the middle and who wouldn't want ginger as a neighbor??
how many series still out there to be binged-watched?
-
re: binge - hard to say, keep finding stuff and keep re-watching stuff :)
How many jigsaw puzzles have you completed in the last 10-years ?
-
a little while ago, last I looked, the local thrift store had the entire Hogan's heroes collection. next time im there i'll peek to see if they still have it.
zero jigsaw puzzles, but interestingly, my local library has a table set up for ongoing jigsaw puzzlers. there are at least 3 people who come in regularly, and add pieces over time until its completed, and the next one takes its place. the library actually loans out puzzles.
how many animals' names do you remember from all the tv shows/movies you've watched?
-
re: library - cool :)
Arnold, Mister Ed, Lassie, Scout, Trigger, Rin Tin Tin, Kitty Cat, Flicka, Ruff, Ready, Flipper, Dino... many, many more.
How many times have you completely binge-watched your favorite binge-worthy show ?
-
and scooby-doo!
I have a rin tin tin biography. that's kinda neat.
heck tailor, im just the opposite. unless im riding my bike while watching, I tend to slow-watch everything and make any one little thing last over many hours at least, often over days, and sometimes into many months. I still have some series and seasons from this past winter that I haven't finished. about the only thing I could presently see myself doing that with would be the four matrix movies but id have to have a particular person to join me and the likelihood of that happening is reallllllllllly small. so 0 for me.
how many US presidents can you name from just their images?
-
27 Presidents I think...
How many times have you had to restart your router in the last month ?
-
hmm, i could maybe eek out something right around 27 too.
I have dial-up so i'll expand the question to mean "re-dial"----at least once a day because the connection times out, so 30 to start, but I went ~a week without it, so lets make that number 24, and then at random times during the day, seemingly for no reason, I get disconnected. lets say that happens ~15-20 times. so anywhere between 39 and 44.
how many tv girls from your youth did you have a crush on? (and who was #1 on the list?)
-
Lol... no idea how many. #1 ? Hmmm, prolly the pre-Mrs. Nelson.
How many times have you seen a "shooting star" ?
-
is that ozzie and harriet tailor?
my #1 might have been Jeannie from I dream of Jeannie but I can think of at least a half dozen others who were close seconds.
oh too many to recollect. although its really been too long since ive taken a good long look at the night sky. I do remember once being at a drive-in movie theater during some scheduled meteor shower event, it was pretty neat.
how many kinds of apples to you know?
-
lol... yeah right... same as your #1... no close seconds.
Apples: I know of many mac varieties through the years and Apples I, II, IIe, IIg, LISA... mac aquarium mod, iWatch, iPad, iPhone. I started with an Apple II clone in the early 80's called the Franklin ACE 1000 which I got by trading a car for (blue Geo Metro... wife had a car and I had a company car so my old Metro was redundant); it was my very first computer and I purchased like a 6" boxy monitor to go with it. In the 90's I started upgrading to macs purchased from a second hand dealer near Sacramento, prolly 5-different versions... still have some of the earlier macs including one in a closet which I've thought on occasion to turn into the aquarium mod :) I switched to windows OS machines before the colorful mac consoles came out.
How many times have you tipped the swear jar today ?
-
nooooo tailor, apples as food, like granny smith and all her relatives.
one, but its early, i'll provide an update on the next post.
-
Oh... granny smith, Washington Delicious, Cotton Candy, Pippen?, Gala, Golden Delicious, Crenshaw? (or is that a melon)... that's all off the top of my head, and Apple Hill being only 20 miles away or so.
How many different types of butterflies frequent your location ?
-
what's your favorite apple?
I think I made it through the day with two visits to the swear jar.
the monarchs are by far the most visible, and the ones that look like them, the viceroys. other than that, im maybe only seeing another 2-3 different kinds, and that pretty rarely, so 5ish altogether. id have to guess id need to be looking more.
how many kinds of beans in your pantry/cupboards?
-
apple: Golden Delicious
Jar: Kudos!
Butterflies: we haven't seen all that many either :(
Beans: 3-bean salad has three (but one of them is a red bean), chili beans, lima beams, red beans.... that's about it: 5
How many tires do you use for "landscaping", ie. lying around not on vehicles ?
-
I don't know if I have ever had a golden delicious one tailor. I guess there are many dozens maybe well over a hundred apple varieties. there are a few wild apple/crab apple trees in my neighborhood. a few years ago I sliced some apples up and dried them. they came out pretty good. I didn't do a lot though because the deer love them.
why thank you---usually a "swear jar" visit would come from banging my head on something, or on the 47th attempt at sending an email and having it not work!
makes ya wonder if there is a sort of natural ebb and flow to butterflies.
just one tire, but its about to be put to good use in an out of sight way.
how many times have you been to a state fair and a county fair?
-
I received a dozen Granny Smith apples at church 2- Sunday's ago that I'm still snacking on :) (Haven't eaten any of ours for some reason... mostly plums)
... never a State Fair, it's currently maybe 55 miles away on freeways I can't drive and usually around 100° - 110° F (37.8° - 43.3° C) Too hot, too far, too many people...
County fairs maybe 5 total (San Mateo & El Dorado (EDC) only). EDC fair is only a dozen miles away... last time I attended Paul Revere and the Raiders played circa 2002?
Same question ?
-
ever try apples sprinkled with just a little salt?
100 degrees! your ice cream would melt before you got to eat it.
I went once to the Minnesota state fair, and had a huge dill pickle that took me a long time to eat. and two, maybe three times (that I remember) to my county fair when I was a kid. my grandpa used to take me. i live really close to the bordering county to the east and two to the south. making trips to all the county fairs would be pretty easy.
how many more weeks until lawn mowing season is over?
-
No salt, thank you very much.
Oh, forgot I went to the 1962 World's Fair in Seattle with family... good and bad experience; very shortly we moved (back) to California :(
Lol... lawn mowing season doesn't exist for me; one quick weed whacking after Spring and the drought kills everything else; almost.
How many different brands of toothpaste have you tried ?
