As for the Pride and Prejudice version -- I saw the newer film version with Kira Knightly. I completely agree with the sentiments you voiced above. Particularly with the music enjoyment. I went to our local music shoppe and purchased the piano music for the movie. What is particularly satisfying is working on the song entitled "Dawn", by Dario Marianelli. What beautiful music!

I didn't see the BBC miniseries you mentioned, but it would be worth looking into, for sure! :)

Hello kiz_paws, glad to meet you, by the way. I like your avy. An illustrator friend of mine has painted her image extensively. He adores her. It is Jean Harlowe, right? With this cold I am in such a fog and my eyesight is fuzzy. Anyway, good to know I can't OD on cough drops:lol: But they are starting to get to me!
So glad you told me about the soundtrack. I will try to buy it. I love collecting movie soundtracks. I like piano music emensely. "Dawn" sounds wonderful. I liked the music when watching the film - it added to the romance and the lovely sets, scenes, etc.
I saw the BBC version years back, but several times now. I think it is BBC or A&E - anyway, it stars Colin Firth...you'll know it when you find it online. It is much much longer and more extensive and closest to the original book. It is slower paced, but the acting is marvelous. It takes a little more patience to watch. All the characters are wonderfully cast and acted. I think I liked the secondary characters best in this longer version. Colin Firth fits the role well. I like to see several versions of adaptations and compare them - just a sort of hobby of mine. I have seen about 4 Jane Eyres, so far.

Hadn't seen it for years. Good baseball, nostalgic, dream, feel good film! Needed something light and enjoyable tonight.

I just saw Blood Diamond for the first time. Whow, very gripping movie. 9/10

I was feeling the worst yesterday...the ultimate depths of disgust with a headache all night....then I got some coffee this morning, and I feel much improved today. Probably just needed a good shot of caffine.

I want to see "The Last King of Scotland", too. All the previews looked interesting and very gripping. I like that actor - can't think of his name - he is always good. Didn't he win the Oscar for best performance this year for the role. Can you tell me what the film is about without giving away too much information to spoil it? Now I have to put this one on my must "see list", too.

Hi Janine!:wave: Yeah Forest Whitiker won best Actor award at this years oscars for his role as Amin in 'last king of scotland'. Its about The reign of Dictator Amin in Uganda in the 70's. James MacAvoy is in the movie as well as a Scotish doctor who Amin Befriends and gets caught up in the tormoil and suffering caused by Amin.

As for my Avian Flu:lol: i just dont understand how i have managed to go through so many tissues! Was constantly waking up last night to blow my nose as it was like a tap. Have also a nice cough to go with it.

:( So sorry you are sick, too. That Avian flu sure is moving around - a friend of mine about 20 miles from here is coming down with it. I know exactly what you mean; I think I have gone through three boxes of tissues already this week; soon I'll be on my fourth. Try Eucolyptus cough drops - they worked wonders for me. I still have the chest thing, too, but the nose is not nearly as bad...that will get better soon. Everytime I think my chest is getting better, it isn't. I think that will hold on for awhile, unfortunately.

There are posters up in the Airport hear warning about avian bird flu. Instead of looking for real birds carrying bad strains of flu, they should be turning to those big metal birds we call airplanes and the people that fly in them!

When i feel sick in November my doctors couldnt tell me anything about the virus i'd caught as it was a new strain in the country brought in by foreigners emigrating into the country, and our bodies cant handle them as well because we're not used to it like the strains we usually get. our flu jabs are disigned for our strains not the new ones coming in from elsewhere.

I've been taken cough sweets, glycerin honey and lemon, hot honey and lemons, uniflu tablets, vitamin c tablets, vivioptal supplements which i've been taking for the four months and now i'm taking some antibiotics because i think its gone to my chest and i cant handle another chest infection or respitory problem again.:(

Niamh, that has to be it then - a virus my body is not used to. I even had a flu shot this year. Obviously this is not the flu strain I got the shot for. It is an all out attack:flare: Now it all makes sense. We both must have some strange thing from some remote part of the world. Sounds like you are taking a lot of stuff like me, desperately trying to ease the symptoms. I have been taking antibiotics, too, but now I am having really adverse effects from them - I won't go into it in detail, of course, but lets just say the paper supplies are all twindling. I also feel nausious and totally a wreck. This morning I had a killer headache. I may live. I hope the antibiotics don't affect you like they did me. Try taking asodophilis or some yogart. I did not have any and got into dire trouble. I thought I was making a turn around but feel poorly right now - probably just hungry. I have not been eating enough I think. What is the saying "starve a fever, feed a cold". We better eat to keep our strength up. Will check in later on. Till then you do have my sympathy ~ Janine

I did see our family doctor Tuesday, and if it is not better by Monday, I will go see him again and give him an earful. I already had the sweat fit yesterday, but did not feel any better after it. I just ate some dinner and have no appetite. Only thing tasting good was some canolope - hope the skin is not infected with a fruit disease like "fruity tuity virus":lol:

I saw Keeping Mum the other day. It was so great! I want to own it now! I wish I lived in a little English villiage like Little Wallop. :( I thought it was so hilarious how the movie totally sterotyped Americans through Patrick Swayze. The muderous old lady bit was hilarious, the music was so different and cool, the acting was great, and I love to see films every once in a while that have superb acting and that don't have a bunch of whiz-bang special effects.

I give it a 10/10.
