Hello Everyone!
My name is John from Lancashire in England and I'm looking forward to discussing my favourite books with other bibliophiles and learning to appreciate them even more. At the moment I'm reading a biography of Thackery, works by Alice Miller and the epic War and Peace - been reading that for months.
Kind regards ... especially to other newbies

Hello everyone. I found this site while searching for a Thomas Hardy forum. I live in Ukiah, California. I especially love the works of Trollope, Hardy and Austen. Between work, knitting and my garden, I usually only read at night right before turning off the light so it sometimes takes me a while to get a book finished. I'm happy I stumbled upon this site.
Best regards,
Frankie Anne
Hello!
I joined this forum as I'm already a part of a different one regarding entirely different subject matter, but I love meeting new people who share my interests. The amount of users here is a bit overwhelming but hopefully I will get to know people better as time goes on.
I've been reading for twenty years (since I was two) and there is no experience more fulfilling for me. I'm almost finished my degree in Media and Cultural Studies, which I also love. You will get to know me more as time passes.

I have just arrived at this site - quite by accident really - the worm-hole was open and the Prophets were out so I visited.
I am at present studying at the Open University - completing an education that was halted in 1952, I applied to study there after being bullied into it by a well loved young friend - who calls me Nain (Welsh for Granny):)
I love to cook - I always cook with wine - sometimes I even add some to the food, fond too much of cooking I carry a little more weight than I should, But I have a love of communication, all sorts of needlework, craftwork, reading.
I have chosen a character from the Peanuts Cartoon series as an Icon I hope it is visible - it should be Woodstock
I watch very little TV but CSIs and occasionally some fantasy (?Merlin)
Mix a little lunacy in your wise council sweet it is to be crazy sometimes

My name is Phil. I found this site while searching for information about Don Quixote. My hobby is Genealogy. My roots are in England though I was born and live in Canada. I am long retired, happily married and enjoy the company of my scattered children and other relatives when we manage a get together.
My great grandfather wrote a number of book(lets) during the period 1880-1920 including the British response to Spain's request for a celebration of the 300th anniversary of the books first publication of Don Quixote. He reports that the first translation was an English one. Interesting.
I wonder if any enthusiast on this site has ever seen the anniversary report?
Phil
Hmmm.........
I guess I could lie and say that I'm an interesting person and that I live in a big house and travel all over the world, but I don't really like liars. That being said I kind of decided to stick to my real life, which is about as interesting as the sequel to "Gone With the Wind." I have like I said in my profile a dog named Annie she's a miniature Dash, two Persian cats named Houdini and Misfit, a Beta Fish named Fred, and a hamster named Peanut. I also had a bird named cheese but he kind of died. :( I don’t have a really Interesting life I play soccer at school, love to read (Right now I'm reading Wicked Lovely) and I paint, very well in fact. Another of my hobbies is poetry and I plan to post some of mine on this site. I used to live in Illinois, Missouri, and New York which was bad cause I HATE, HATE,HATE snow and the cold but I now live in Florida which is heaven because it never, never, snows. And that's about it, theirs not much else to say about me except that I am 16 , drive a car, and can barely afford to pay for my gas and Insurance as a Ice Cream Scooper at Baskin Robins which is where I work. So there you go... that's all. So yeah like I said very "Scarlet" like.
Hello everybody,

It's a great pleasure to be here as I can get in touch with so many poeple. I hope to exchange ideas with you about Chinese poetry and its translation.
As most of you are English natives, I hope to know your genuine ideas.
Thank you.

Greetings,
My name is Justin. I'm a student, majoring in (surprise!) English. I look forward to meeting new people and learning from others here at the LN forums. :)
So, my introduction here will probably be highly inadiquit compared to those of others, but here I go at a first atempt.
I'm not really sure where i'd be as of ages, probably one of the younger people on here, as I am 15.
I was born, and have lived all my life so far in England, however have a fascination with other countries, America being my main focus.
I don't spend as much time reading as I would like, because I can't see, and this means not all books are available in either braille or audio format, but I get by with the books that are available. I use librivox a lot, because, although the books there are old, they provide equal, if not more enjoyment then books written today.
I have strong views on the world, humanity and how we function in societty as a whole. I don't expect people to agree with me, because I'm sure there's many people who I do not agree with. However, I am willing to share my views with people who will tell me there's in return.
I read a wide variety of books. Louisa May Alcott is my favourite author as far as fiction is concerned. There is a charm and appeal to her books that those written today sadly lack.
If I want slightly heavier reading material, that I can devote my focus too for a day I usually choose something like Emerson's essays. I find these interesting, as I can place them in to life, and understand how he wrote them. The topics they concern are a point of curiosity for me.
I have a strong fascination for poetry, I will read any form of poetry if it is presented to me in an agreeable format. I love to write it, however consider my writing inferior to the writing of those poets I love.
I'm willing to try any book, as long as I know that it will be worth my time. If i've never read a book by the particular author concerned, I will try my best to devote time to reading their books, as I believe I can never truly know if I will like a book until I give it a good try.
I have written rather a lot here, and as a first introduction I hope it is not too long and heavy. I'd like to talk to people, so feel free to message me at any time.
Holly.
Hello fellow Literature buffs wherever you are.
My name's Michael, I’m 49 and I live in Plymouth, UK.
This is my first Literature forum and I'm looking forward to many great discussions and posts on the site. I completed my Degree in Literature and Philosophy a good few years ago now. I had a fantastic time, probably enjoying it more because I was a mature student. In a perfect world I would still be there continuing to study now! The good thing about living in Plymouth is that I can take a good book, the dog and a picnic up onto Dartmoor and sit under a tree, or to the beach and sit on the sand in Cornwall. I'm hoping the upside to global warming is a little more sunshine instead of all the rain we seem to get here! My greatest love is my daughter Alexandra, 17 years old, and an avid reader of good literature herself. I also, in my spare time, enjoy rock climbing, mountain biking, little camping expeditions and the usual vices! At the moment I’m reading Doris Lessing’s ‘The Golden Notebook’, a nice easy read after my last one, Elliot’s ‘Middlemarch’. I noticed Doris Lessing’s not on the list of authors here, is the list ever expanded on the site? Well, I think it’s time for a chicken sandwich and a cup of tea in the garden now as the sun is actually shining at the moment! Bye for now, and happy reading everyone. :)
Hi as you can tell from my name I love Jane Austen and really mostly all the classic novels probably because of the language and detailed way they're all written. Anything inspired by or created on the basis of a classic novel and it will become my next obsession for the nect couple of months of my life. However, I dont really like "Frankenstein" and "Dracula" even thought I found the stories vaguely intruiging I didnt connect with any of the characters but now I'm rambling so I'll shut up.
I am also a huge fan of Hiroshige art and any art that is quirky, simple yet effective. I watch alot of period drama's, British comedy and Anime films and I am in love with the theatre.
And I'd just like to say Hi to everyone out there!
I am 63, soon-to-be 64, and am interested in all sorts of reading matter. I was an English Professor for two years while getting my Master's Degree in English (Writing). I especially like the works of Jorge Luis Borges, and the classical works of the Marx-Engels-Lenin-Mao School of Socialism. I am not a communist or a sympathizer with that school of thought, but I am a social-democrat. I look forward to some intellectual stimulation here in any field. Thanks for having me!
Andrew
Hello! I'm a 22-year old English major at Eastern Kentucky University. I am early into my journey through literature, but have absolutely fallen in love with the written word! I can't wait to browse through this forum, and hopefully contribute!
Hello I am the King of Lombards (my pen name is Galzraa). I am a High Schooler well versed in science, Led Zeppelin, and Metallica (woot!). My main hobbies are building, reading, and...plotting (evil grin). Some of my favorite books are "The Dunwich Horror" by H.P Lovecraft, "Brave New World" by Auldous Huxley, and "Percy Jackson and the Olypians" by Rick Riordan.
(P.S. I use parenthesis too much)
Hi, I´m a teacher of English from Argentina. It´s great to share with you and being connected through one of the greatest passions in life: LITERATURE.
I am from Bangalore, India. I am currently doing Masters in English Literature and enjoying it completely. I want to become an author and therefore I think it's important to get the basics right and what better way than knowing how the legendary writers did it. That's why I am here to know more about literature that my course doesn't cover. BTW Pensive, that's my blogname. Although I am Pensieve (got inspired by Harry potter:blush:)
I'm new to this network, and I hope I become an active member. I love reading and writing (as is probably obvious from my joining this site), and I just wish to expand my mind, and talk to some of the amazing people that are no doubt in this network.
I am sixteen years old, and I've lived in Australia all of my life. I'll keep this short, but I look forward to talking to new people, and learning more about the wonderful variety of literature that is out there.
Thank you,
Taylor :)

Hi! I'm Annie, but alot of my buddies call me Moshu. I am starting to prefer it... (means Magick in Chinese, I spell magick wrong on purpose =)) I'm 15 and in New England (USA) and love literature... I hope I can be an active member, I'm so thrilled to be a part of such a great forum and amazing network! I love meeting new people, so please talk to me... I'm really into horses, although I don't own one of my own currently. I LOVE acting, I've done alot of Shakespeare acting, and hope to continue. I recently competed in the National High School Shakespeare Acting Competition, and made it to semi-finals. I'll definitely be doing it next year again. Right now, with a local teen drama club, I am playing Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream. I am a Jesus-freak, I go to a non-denominational church. I'm homeschooled, and the oldest of five kids. Oh, and my best friend is my Great Dane, Roxy. Thanks!
~Moshu~
Welcome Moshu. It's nice to have you here. And welcome to all the newbies. :)
