The thing is, the premise of the game is pretty nice, and it has it's moments, but it gets stopped every other second when they go for 1st down they have a play and stop, 2nd down, a play and stop again. There are a gazzillion breaks etc from the game. It's nice to watch on TV, but last saterday I had the chance to see a game of the Amsterdam Admirals live. At least I now know the purpose of the cheerleaders. An hour of actual play spread out over three hours. They have a lot of entertaining to do.
If you don't know the Amsterdam Admirals, they're the best team in Europe :D Nothing compared to the NFL ofcourse.
I would say the continual breaks create tension and expectation in the viewer. Anyway, from my impression, going to live games is supposed to be an opportunity to get drunk and yell a lot, rather than actually watch the game. Were you at least able to do this?
Also, I've never heard of the Admirals, and am not familiar at all with the European game of American football.
The atmosphere in the stadium was great, true, but really, with Football, the other kind, the game actually matters to the spectators, so I guess I was just expecting to much. It's a different culture all together. :)
My random thought of the day is WHY? and Why AGAIN? :brickwall
SO glad I don't have a TV here and wasn't able to watch it...
Little Miss Vermin feeling a little dissapointed? :p
I think the best team won!
Nah, not disappointed, just feeling down a bit ;)
Congrats to the Swedish guys :) ... we'll kick your butts next time! :D
What is this a sports thread??

Reasons I hate cleaning:
1) its icky.
2) The more you clean the more the dirt shows up the more you need to clean the more dirt there suddenly appears the more you need to clean the more the tiles look dull or are watre splattere the more you clean and on and on and on its a visious circle.
Having ignored the critical condition of my favorite, and very old, sweater, perhaps the Freudian coping mechanism of denial, recently I finally realized the poor shape of my dark blue sweater - its tattered holes, ravaged color, but its continuous warmth.
Very sadly and with much hesitancy, I compelled myself to retire my poor sweater to its grave in the dumpster of my apartment complex. Rest in peace, my dearest sweater; no other sweater will ever compare to your warmth. :(
(though I loved the sweater, please, everyone, notice my sarcasm :D)

I wasn't too serious in my response to Aimus. I only meant that when people go to live games they typically are so far separated from the action on the field (especially to us with bad eyesight) that one must create his/her own action in unison with the crowd around one. But being from Montana we don't have much for professional sports, other than bullriding which I refuse to get into, and so I'm only speculating.

I think I need a coffin as well. I can furnish the candles and black clothes but my beloved dying fountain pen is desperately in need for a beautiful place to rest in peace. Something worthy of it...
I shall never have a better one! :bawling: :bawling: :bawling:
Just consider the pen lucky, having had someone who cares about it as much as you did. :)
Oh how I have fond memories of the only fountain pen I ever had! Ink stains everywhere :D
We are so sentimental. :)
And the compliment is more than returned for I do think your pen is elated to be held by such a hand!
I cannot buy a new one, it would kill me...
I doubt that, he used to spit ink everywhere, I think he did it out of spite. :nod:Quote:

Oooh... You are so nice, Aimus! Thank you.
I will consider the thought of a new pen! ;)
And I am sure yours used to spit ink only to be unique, thus being worthy of you. :D
You're too kind, and might just be on to something, he was probably mimicking me. It's amazing how pens take on the personality of their masters. :)Quote:

How sad - I can certainly feel your pain in losing something you use for creating art - what a loss. If it makes you feel any better, I could certainly lend you my pen (I must flaunt some pictures) - Venetian glass pen:Quote:

Oh, no! Papayahed, I cannot apologize enough to hear of your unfortunate news! Obviously they do not realize the great loss of your disappearance; they will notice, surely. If you need any consolation, you know you have many friends here! ;)Quote:
