as shown on the previous page, this is a maxi.

I'm 159 cm (5'2.3") tall and have a cupsize 70D (32D) - not a good combination in terms of fitting in to the clothes that are designed for people 15 cm taller than I am but who weight 10 kilograms less... And I'm not fat! Not skinny, but normal weight, my waist is narrow enough. As I've already said, it's hard to find tops that fit, and it's even harder to find decent jeans or other trousers. First of all, they are always too long, and I'm usually too lazy to shorten them myself... Secondly, if they fit on my thigs, they are too tight on my bottom, and if my bottom looks good in them, they are usually far too loose on the tighs. And I know lots of short, curvy girls and women like me, why can't they make clothes for us? :willy_nilly:
JuniperWoolf: Wow, so there is at least one among us who doesn't have difficulties in finding clothes that fit :D
Niamh: I also often wear a wide-ish belt with an empire waist, otherwise it often doesn't look as flattering. Because of my breasts the empire waist often rises a bit too high without a belt (obviously the tops I've bought have been designed for a flatter chest) and makes me look like I'm pregnant :p
Hey you and me are the same height! I so know how you feel! I've had the pregnant look too many times. try being short with 36D chest and not being exactly skinny. Currently size 12-14 but closer to the 14 than the 12. (not sure what that is in Euro size or American sizes.) I always have to buy bigger on top and it sometimes results in my looking... eh... bulky.
I usually by my clothes from H&M, mostly size 36 (size 10 in GB, size 6 in the US), but for trousers I often need 38. When it comes to buttoned down blouses my waist fits in size 34, so I often buy those, as there's no hope I could button the shirt above the waist anyway until size 38 or 40, which would simply make me look shapeless. A simple tank top worn underneath the buttoned down blouse solves the problem :D (Though sometimes it would be nice to have a blouse you can button all the way up to the neck...) So it seems I come in several different sizes - one for my lower half, another for my waist and a third one for my chest :p
I'd just button below the bust and wear a cami underneath. It adds shape and size to the bust area. :) Its a pain in the bum for me to get shirts for work that fit so i dont. I hate the tent like flow i end up with.
I would like to have a nice blazer (and perhaps a matching skirt or trousers too), but I have pretty much given up the hope of ever finding one that fits, and I don't want to pay a fortune to get one tailored to my measurements...

Doh! I can never find blazers, the arms are always too long. I think most blazers are made for gorillas or more likely my arms, like my legs are short.
Blazers make me itchy, along with suits and just about any formal clothing
Where, oh where are these blazers with sleeves that are too long? I can't believe there is such a garment - I am longing for a Useful Blazer to see me through the summer but all the sleeves are two to three inches above my wrist. It was ever thus. It isn't even as if 5'10" is all that tall these days.
Clothes manufacturers have got the message about trousers - I can get trousers long enough these days but they don't seem to have cottoned on to the fact that if you have long legs you are quite likely to have long arms too.
Those pretty maxi dresses would come way above my ankles - the panel dress I still fancy is shown in the catalogue as a long dress on the models but previous purchases tell me it will come half way down my calves which I find a comfortable length.
my local department store now caters suits for short and tall people. Its great! I can get suit jackets that fit! One of the clothes stores in town, A-Wear, has jeans that come in four lengths, 27", 29", 31" and 33". 29" is my leg. I've friends who are 27". It never made sense to me that for years the clothes were are all messured for average height of about 5'5" with leg size 31", especially seeing as in Ireland, I AM average height. We are a nation of shortys.
No problem here. Always right. As long as I go to H&M for blazers because size 36 in Europe is actually too big. It fits, but 34 is better. But that is only in H&M as they cater for teenagers too... 36 is normally the smallest in all other shops. Though the rest of my clothing is fine...
Although, I have a problem with the back of trousers in the waist area... Most people would complain too tight, but I have always a piece of fabric that is too much is seems... It's not that bad, but anyway, I have had it since I was a teenager. No matter how long my mother and I looked, there was just no pair of trousers that didn't have it. I guess I'll have to gain fat on my back? ;)
Oh, yes, I can actually moan about this: has anybody with small breasts also noticed that tops and dresses are always made for people with bigger ones and that you then have two bags under your armpits? This has really become a problem in Germany now... Women seem to be too 'breasty' and so, Hunkemöller for nighties, no-no. To H&M again. There they might know about teenagers whose breasts are not yet grown to their full size. Shame that I am my full size at a grand A :D.
Mind you, living in a country where the usual woman is at least size 38 is great! In the sales in shops like Pro Mod you get a big choice, better than in Belgium where I come from. And your shoes are equally cheap :D. Though there is nothin for me in Marks and Spencer... They starts at 38 :(. I am 'petite' so to say...
Some tops i try on i have to take off because they are not designed for people with fuller breasts. The top could be the right size, but the bust area looks like i've just tried to squeeze into a kids top!
I so know what you mean about the trousers! Looks fine from the front but big gap at the back? I get that, but i put it down to the fact i've a big bum.
I find I can't wear anything button down for that reason Niamh. I've been having luck with some of the drapey tops that are popular at the moment. This one works great, my only complaint is that I must wear a tank top under it. the neck hole is huge and it is forever falling off my shoulder. It's simply not made for someone as all around tiny as me, and since I didn't buy in the petite section, the shirt isn't sized to accommodate my smaller frame. I like it enough, that I've been considering getting the other color of the same top I only have the puple/gray one at the moment, but I think I'll get the blue/green one as well:)

oh pretty!
I have never heard of a bra muffin top.

get the right bra size!
lmao. I know I'm not really supposed to be in this thread, but I'm ganna sneek in for a second so I can say this: It's almost impossible to get the right braw size for most women, there is one place in new york however, and the only place in the country, that has custom fit braw sizes. Most people don't fit into the normal "cups". (Of course I'm not talking from experience... I saw it on discovery channel (maybe a documentry idk) a few years ago.)
All M&S stores have a saleslady trained to find the right bra size for you. But I don't suppose Revolte would know that, being in America. Oh and being a man.
 That they do. Any department store has someone capable of helping you. The only problem that I find is the ones that fit properly for larger sizes are very expensive. I love to buy at Victoria's Secret, but at 50-60 dollars a bra, I can't afford to do it very often. They fit amazing, though, and they're like the Cadillac of bras.
And a less revealing top as well!
---
The truth is that finding a right size is almost impossible. Okay, I know that in special underwear shops one could find bras with a perfect fit, but I can't afford to pay that much for a bra! In normal shops there just isn't enough sizes that have big enough cups and small enough circumference. Most of my bras are size 70C, and it is not the right size. 70D is better, but they are nearly impossible to find, and what I would really need would be a 65D or 65DD. I've NEVER found that size anywhere... (30D or 30DD) I also often find that the straps are too long even when on the shortest setting. That much I could fix myself, however, if I wasn't so damn lazy...
That's exactly it! I need big cups too (75E). But what's worse, after having had 2 children, and nursing them both, my breasts are inevitably drooping now, and the straps are cutting in* the shoulder really painfully :(

Ooooh, so that has a name. Well, that's not so bad. I thought that a "muffin top" was when people wear pants that are too tight for them:
http://sarafine.files.wordpress.com/...muffin-top.jpg
...which just looks uncomfortable. Her poor organs would be all squished up.
That too Juniper  That's what I mostly hear called a muffin top.
What is the 70 in the 70D size? Is that USA sizing or somewhere else?
There is only 1 store in town that sells my size and their best selection is in the "expensive" bra section.
As far as comfort goes, Wacoal is the best I've ever tried. There could be better, but I remember just being amazed the first time I tried one of those. Victoria's Secret doesn't hold a candle. Or at least it didn't. I can't even go to VS anymore. When I was younger, they had things I could wear, but I think that store cators to teens and young adults --- especially that PINK stuff they have. I'd feel really stupid walking around in a pair of sweatpants that said PINK on the butt of them.
T-SHIRT bras are a wardrobe staple in my opinion, but again, the size range on those is limited. The affordable T-Shirt Bra that comes in my size runs small and there is no buy a size up for me in that particular style. So, I spent $70 on the only other T-Shirt Bra they had - Le Mystery or something. It's awesome for comfort and is actually cute, rather than matronly which seems to be the most appropriate adjective for the majority of bras in my size and price range. If I want something functional and cute I will have to pay and pay and pay for it. More clothing size discrimination. :(
Shalot - T-shirt bra??? I'm not familiar with what that even looks like, and knowing me it is something I own  Maybe not if they're that expensive, but it wouldn't surprise me. I'll have to check out that brand. I'm pretty picky about buying bras, and I certainly hate being uncomfortable all day. I just want them to be pretty even if no one else seeing them.
I'm thinking 70D is UK sizing. 70 being centimeters around the rib cage?
Has anyone tried the backless bra? It's something like this
http://www.iheartluxe.com/wp-content...ckless-bra.jpg
I've heard that it is fine for bustier girls, but I've never quite gotten up the nerve to try it on.
Yes, 70 is centimetres. I guess it's 32 in inches? They say you should not buy a bra if you can wear it on the tightest setting, which means that all my 70C or 70D bras are too large for me. But it is impossible to find a 65D anywhere!
T-shirt bra is one with smooth cups, no lace or seams so that it gives you a smooth silhoutte under a tight top.
I haven't seen that kind of backless bra. It looks like the straps might fall of your shoulders any moment causing a major underwear disaster... If you'll try one, tell me how it works :D
You mean like Unique Bra that stays on with some gel or something?
http://piruetti.workspace6.smilehous...ure1Upload.jpg
I just can't believe it would give anywhere near enough support for my breasts, I mean where would it get that support?
yep. i've one of those. Not the best thing in the world to be honest!
A friend of mine has one too and she said it was really difficult to get on properly.
I guess it would works better with people with small breasts that don't need that much support. With a tight top they should give enough support and a smooth silhouette for women whose breasts aren't that big.
That backless bra looks kind of cool. It works kinda like a backpack. I mean, you know... for the front.
Errr, yeeeess - I think I know what you mean.....
Yup, I think the 70 in 70D or so gives you the centimetres measured just under you breasts. The D would then be the cup size.
But I think in France they measure on you niples (round your back of course), so their centimetres are a little bit more for eventually the same size. England measures in inches below the breast I thought.
Fortunately now there are these really handy all-over-Europe or the-world chains of shops like Hunkemöller where they have all possible sizes on their labels. Otherwise what a problem
Only ever tried a strapless bra and one with a plastic back that closed at the front (so there was no lock on your back for a tight top). The strapless one used to fall down, and I don't have that big a cup size (A), so for women with large breasts that have started to hang, no-no. The one with the plastic back was alright until it gets really hot and then your skin starts to get uncomfortable because it can't breathe under the plastic.
The only real thing that would help for support and that would be strapless would be a corset because it has other means of support, but then under a tight top... I think the men would rather like it... :p
The muffin top. You know what a Scottish comedienne once called it? 'Cake top', 'because it [was] slightly bigger than a muffin top'. I like it :D. Haven't really got one though.
In UK and Ireland its inches messured below bust line to determine the size (ie 36inches) and around the bust to determine the cup. (ie D)
Hello, everybody! Finally made it here! Hope you don't mind me jumping into the conversation.
Bras....I hate them! I usually do without, even though I risk getting National Geographic twins. The most comfortable bra I ever had was one that hooked in the front. My problem, though, is that my chest gets larger (the area below my breasts)--perhaps because I do work out--but my twins don't. And then the hooks often get ruined and pinch me! I only wear them when I go to school and when I do aerobics--I'm not big, but the jiggling is painful. I've been meaning to check out this store that helps you find the right bra just for you.
Then I get those little flaps of skin around that area. I'm glad I don't live in the witch hunting times. They used to burn people for having those. They thought those little flaps were extra nipples used to nurse familiars. I know there is such a thing as a third nipple--but they talked about nipples being found around the waist or underneath the breast...so I'm assuming they met these things. Imagine--being burned for something that is caused by chafing of tight fitting clothes!
Today I finally had the courage to go to a lingerie specialty shop. It's not like there was much selection either, but at least there were a few bras my size, whereas in other places there aren't any. I bought two basic balconette bras, black and beige, size 65E (that would be 30E. OMG, E cup. Not D, not DD, but E! :eek2:) No more bra muffin top for me! :p I got the cheapest bras in the shop, only 25 euros apiece. The pretty ones would have cost 80 euros... perhaps later when I feel rich :D
