well im going to have to look that up, but before I do, it sounds like it should be a line from some cowboy in a Louis l'amour book!
laughs...I was close, patsy cline, country music! walking after midnight. will have to hunt that up...the more ive gotten into the contemporary pop/country, the more I am looking the old original stuff. speaking of which, I suspect more people are familiar with the remake, than the original below:
An old cowboy went riding out one dark and windy day
Upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way
When all at once a mighty herd of red eyed cows he saw
A-plowing through the ragged sky and up the cloudy draw
Their brands were still on fire and their hooves were made of steel
Their horns were black and shiny and their hot breath he could feel
A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky
For he saw the Riders coming hard and he heard their mournful cry
Yippie yi ooh
Yippie yi yay

Ghost Riders in the Sky - Johnny Cash
I do like me some old country, twang and all.
This is not:
She wasn't just another woman
And I couldn't keep from comin' on
It's been so long
Oh, and it's a hollow feelin' when
It comes down to dealin' friends
It never ends
Take another shot of courage
Wonder why the right words never come
You just get numb
-
how could I not get, and have to cheat on tequila sunrise! maybe more words would have done it? or the karaoke soundtrack?? laughs...
should be an easy one:
Hello, baby
Yeah, this is the Big Bopper speakin'
Oh, you sweet thing
Do I what? Will I what?
Oh baby, you know what I like
____________ ________ and a pretty face and a pony tail hangin' down
A wiggle and a walk and a giggle and a talk made the world go round
Ain't nothing in the world
Like a big eyed girl to make me act so funny make me spend my money
I feel real loose like a long necked goose
Like a whoa baby, that's what I like
-
Chantilly Lace - Big Bopper (I had to sing it a few times before I could remember the name)
I thought for sure "another shot of courage" would give it away.
This is one of my favorite and I've included more lyrics:
Somewhere out there on that horizon
Out beyond the neon lights
I know there must be somethin' better
but there's nowhere else in sight
It's survival in the city
When you live from day to day
City streets don't have much pity
When you're down, that's where you'll stay
-
its funny papayahed, after you know the song in question, the lyrics slide right into it, but sometimes, divorced at they are, its a challenge to place them. but youre right, "another shot of courage" should have been a good clue.
you probably haven't seen a movie called the warriors have you?
ah, joe walsh's "in the city"...yayyy! would have gotten that one from just the first line! laughs...
I think ive posted this one somewhere on the forums before (no peeking back!), apart from I like the song period, I love the ethical dilemma in it:
Dry lightning cracks across the skies
Those storm clouds gather in her eyes
Daddy was mean a old mister
Mama was an angel in the ground
The weather man called for a twister
She prayed blow it down
There's not enough rain in Oklahoma
To wash the sins out of that house
There's not enough wind in Oklahoma
To rip the nails out of the past
Shatter every window till it's all ________
Every brick, every board, every slamming door _______
Till there's nothing left standing,
Nothing left of yesterday
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory ________, _________
-
Blown Away - Carrie Underwood. I totally had to google.
This one always makes my eyes sweat:
If you get there before I do
Don't give up on me
I'll meet you when my chores are through
I don't know how long I'll be
But I'm not gonna let you down
Darling wait and see
And between now and then
Till I see you again
