heck, I eschew shaving almost as much as I eschew alcohol...so no need for the claws in that regard...smiles...
probably too many to know and its constantly changing---whenever I get exposed to a new song I like, i'll hunt up a collection of songs by the person/group and end up becoming at least a nominal fan. ive recently gotten turned on to lorde, the pretty reckless, zella day, the civil wars, and the steeldrivers just to name a handful...
how many chick flick chick lit movies/books have you seen/read?
-
The Notebook is the only chick flick that comes to mind at the moment. Years ago I used to like a writer named Jeanette Winterson who, from what I understand, is a real gonad-smashing feminist [expletive deleted]. Popular with certain women, apparently.
I do the same thing when I hear a song I like, I investigate the artist and often become a fan. Mostly I stumble across new artists on YouTube, it's great for that. I ended up liking Lorde, too, for a number of reasons, but have been wondering if, whenever she releases her follow-up album, she'll be big still, or will turn out to have been a flash in the pan. We shall see.
How many caches of food, weapons, etc. do you have buried in secret locations in the woods for when you have to bug out due to Planet X returning and causing worldwide zombie-ism?
-
alas, zero. though the thought of building and having a sort of survival oasis is appealing on a variety of levels, science fiction notwithstanding.
I had a friend who tried keeping a 6 month supply of food in her house but she didn't keep up with rotating the food, and as she has a persnickety aversion to eating foods past their "expiration" date, I ended up with quite a bit of it.
how many days might go by without reading before you felt something was amiss?
-
Previously, as in a few years ago, could have been quite a few, because I went through a period where I didn't read much due to very poor concentration. Then the golden age of audiobooks came along, and the advent of smartphones and the wireless world, and now I'm back into it, though I listen rather than read. And the answer is not more than a few.
How many times a week do you force yourself to eat a meal you really don't enjoy because it is good for you and doesn't contain what is bad for you?
-
boy, we gotta get someone else to join in on this thread...
all food is good for us in some capacity and very little doesn't contain anything that isn't bad for us, but in the spirit of the question, zero, mostly because I enjoy practically everything, including things that are "good for me."
how many times in a row can you hear a favorite song before you want to turn it off?
-
Perhaps a dozen. After that it gets old as I know it by heart.
How many DVD's do you own, approximately?
-
Only a few, rare ones. The rest I gave away or threw away when streaming and download became viable.
bounty, what do you mean we need to get some more people in here? I've though that before, in the sense that it would be more fun, but you sounded exasperated.
How many times have you come so close to punching someone that you felt a wave of gratitude later to whatever held you back, as you're relieved to not now be facing a lawsuit or some other serious damage to your life?
-
oh no...not exasperated at all...strictly from a "more fun/participation/variety" perspective...there was some other thread where it was just tailor and I for posts on end and I had said pretty much the same thing, although probably with a successful hint of good humor...
-
OK, mon, all's cool in the kingdom, bounty, my old son, but how do we go about recruiting for this forum? I'm not wearing that red dress again, if that's where your mind was going.
And for my specialist subject...How many redundant tools (the other kind of tool) do you have in your home, i.e. multiple hammers, screwdrivers, etc.
-
Dozens. But you must understand I had three small children losing daddy's tools all the time and I had to replace them, and then they would turn up again. My kids are now learning for themselves about the value of tools, as two are married; my daughter has two kids, and my youngest is 24 and has been out on his own (by choice) since he was 19 or 20.
How many children would you say is enough, already?
-
Since I have no children and have never been married, my answer is coming from a different vantage than most people my age. For myself, of course, the answer is no kids, for personal reasons. Growing up, I sort of inferred that three, the number in my family, was the "right" number. I can't quite explain it, mostly I think it had to do with the nature of society at the time and socio-economic reasons. Over the years, through further observation, I learned that many people who had a fourth child regretted it, realizing or feeling that they should have stopped at three. Nowadays, again due to societal and economic reasons, I'm thinking two is a good number. Both of my sibs have two, and I've seen the advantages of stopping there and focusing all available parental time and resources on those two. Obviously, your question has as many answers as there are adults in the world.
How many times have you, as a man, after a certain age or number of years of frustration with this dumb old world, secretly wished you could have the kind of power, advantage and control vis-a-vis women that men in ancient times had? Come on, lads, be honest. ;-)
-
Unnumbered times.
How many times have you wished that Governments were unnecessary?
-
without getting into my social/political persuasion, isnt that roughly akin to asking how many times you wished for a sunny day, or for something to happen this way as opposed to that way? its not something to keep track of, but rather, to count as best as a "necessary evil"...
I don't drink it any more but I loved it when I was a kid---how many ounces of egg nog is "too many?"
-
2 ounces
How many peanust butter and jelly sandwiches can you eat in a sitting?
-

right now im dragging through looking backwards, and enjoying flyboys.
how many hours for a movie is just about right?
-
Somewhere around 2 hours.
How many George Clooney movies can you name?
-

That's an interesting one, and the answer is none.
How many rolls of toilet paper do you have in storage?
-
That's an interesting one, and the answer is none.
How many rolls of toilet paper do you have in storage?
-
9 rolls. I buy the giant economy packs.
How many books are you reading at the moment?
-
sometimes in two, sometimes just in one. I go back and forth. last night I finished flyboys, while im still drudging through looking backward, the novelty of which has long since worn out and im skipping sections like crazy.
so, was 2, now 1, and I probably wont start another until I finish looking backward, which by the way I don't recommend to anyone for pleasure reading. if you are interested in social/political philosophy, that's another story.
nfl playoffs are starting, how many games will you watch between now and inclusive of the superbowl?
-
None.
How many sports do you follow?
-
Zip. Zilch. Also known as none. Spectator sports and me are like distant relatives who, per force, see each other occasionally at family gatherings, but don't know each other from Adam and neither of us could be arsed to show up at the other one's funeral. Unless there's money in the will.
Chef Boyardee is famous, among other things, for its little meatballs, the ones found in the various spaghetti type products and ravioli variants. You love them and you know you do. In your lifetime, how many would you estimate you've eaten?
-
"Zip. Zilch. Also known as none."
How many times do you cook (instead of just microwaving TV-dinners) food in a week?
-
Darn, you caught me. The answer is once, most likely. There's only one dish I know how to make. Mostly I'm a conspicuous bachelor, as far as cooking goes, and at fifty-one am still waiting for a woman to take care of me. Doesn't like like she's showing up, darned equal rights.
How many times, while eating in a Chinese restaurant and feasting on Moo Shu, have you run out of plum sauce while smearing it on one of the pancakes and asked the waiter for more?

A big giant zero.
How many times have you had food poisoning?

how many pounds of Chinese buffet could you eat?
-
Are we talking about the food or some girls from Shanghai? <drum roll, bow> OK, OK, I don't measure my food by weight, but I guess two pounds?
How many minutes generally pass after a Chinese meal before you feel hungry again?
-
How many sweaters do you have ?
-
I'd say three sweaters, Swathisharan, but don't ye like my question about Chinese food? I feel neglected and need a cuddle.
-
i like the Chinese food question (so warm fuzzy there) and I think in my own life, its an observable phenomenon.
id say, depending on the amount of food we're talking, anywhere from 40 minutes to two hours.
how many toppings on a pizza are just about right?
-
5 - extra cheese, green pepper, onion, tomato, and pepperoni
How many slices of pizza can you eat in one sitting?
-
Darn, son, you had to go there. ;-) I gave up pizza last spring or thereabouts as part of my war against my belly, and it made a noticeable difference fairly quickly. Before that I used to power down those large DiGiorno's frozen jobs with the cheese stuffed crust two or three times a week. Point being, I can eat me some pizza. ;-) If we're talking a standard size pie from a pizzeria, I would say three slices.
How many times have you sworn to pump iron till you got you some serious muscles, started, and given up?
-
0. I'm a chick, I'd rather not have serious muscle.
How many times have you locked yourself out of the house?
-
More times I would like to admit. Once I even learned my neighbour was a part-time criminal because of the ease he showed in breaking into my home. He swore he would never do so without my permission...
What would make you nervous if you didn't have it? What're you addicted too?
-
Uh...this is the How Many? thread, old Lemonade old friend, but I'll answer it anyway. Tea, is the answer. I am absolutely addicted to tea and without it I'd morph into a lump of transdimensional aardvark.
How many animals have you hit while driving in your lifetime?
-

How many years have you been at your current job or retirement or educational pursuit?
-
