sigh, I have done just that. It didn't work out for them but by that time I had moved on in my heart.
Would you let a friend borrow your car for a week and to go to the airport to get his/her mom they haven't seen in years knowing he/she was the worst driver on earth-and also knowing that because they didn't have a vehicle and had no other way to obtain one that mom would truly think less of the person if she knew the truth?
I am really enjoying how circumstantial the "would yous" that you post are becomming. Yes I would ... if I had a car.

If I had a friend who could "causually" mention that he "might have ran over someone", I'd be out the door and dialing 911 so fast the cell phone would smoke! How could one be "causual" about possibly killing someone? That's a psychopath! What else has he "casually" done? Does he have plans that inclue me and a "hunting accident"? *shivers* :eek:

I'd have to report it. I'd encourage my friend or my partner to turn themselves in but if they wouldn't I'd let them know I'd have to report it.

to me a hit and run is a heinous crime because, fear or not, to leave someone helpless, lying there, maybe dying is criminal in more than one way. I would understand the fear of the person and I would think of something to say in his or her defence to the police and make sure that person got a good lawyer. But I would drag them to the police station if need be. The person lying there certainly never asked for his life to be changed in an instant.
Would you try to stop a friend from shoplifting if as you wandered around the department store she/he suddenly whispered to you that such a daring event was to take place and you knew that that person already had a criminal record that if added to would preclude him from leaving the country and his family was overseas.
Of course, I'd try to stop him/her. I wouldn't be a real friend if I didn't.
