Hi! My name is Misty, I'm a 29 year old mom of three boys 4 and under!
I LOVE to read (when I get the time)
I was a volunteer at a stable before I got pregnant again...Love horseback riding and can't wait to do it some more.
I also draw a bit.
Right now, I am waiting to see if I've been accepted or not to the U of M (Michigan) I'm trying to get a masters in information science...My DREAM is to work with archives! (my husband thinks I'm nuts...but I think its thrilling)
I love history, I am a major fanatic...WWII...holocaust...are the big ones for me. Although it can never be understood, I still find myself trying to learn everything that I can hoping I can maybe make some sense out of it. (Impossible, I know)
Favorite books are anything by Jane Austen...I adore the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer (very austenish) and any Historical fiction :)

i happened to be browsing through some websites yesteraday, looking for extra info for my next literature lesson and i came across this interesing site!

english is not my lingua franca, and i leave it to u 2 guess which my mother tongue is...but i simply love english and reading and writing and of course, speaking in english too!

i am an aspiring translator+interpreter+journalist whose hobbies needless 2 say, are wiritng and interviewing, etc. but i am also extremely fond of music, + i play the piano ever since i was 7(i am 18 now)

favourite book?that's really hard to say. all my favourite writer's masterpieces are my favourtite books...All Jane Austen's 6 wroldwire novels are my favourtites, but similarly, i love Sophie Kinsella's witti and humourous "The Secret dREAMWORLD OF A sHOPAHOLIC''

HI!!...what a great start!

i feel really small on here compared to everyone else. You all talk about having a degree in this and that and i havent even finished my English GCSE's!

I do love English, i admit it hasn't been one of my loves until recently. It shows how much a teacher can inspire you. I've developed a deep love for writing. I've enjoyed writing all my love, it's so relaxing and you can just express all your feelings in a poem or a story. Again i admit i'm not a massive fan of reading. However amazing Shakespeare my be, for me it is boring to read. God i bet you all hate me now. This is why am i here though. I'm hoping most people on here would help me love the language of English more and especially literature as i'm finding it so fasinating (i can't spell) i just want to learn more and more.

Now about me...I'm DANNY! i'm sixteen years old, i live in birmingham. I go to Smith's Wood Sports College. It's a nice place to go to but i'm not very sporty. I'm a muscian and i own two bands. I love my bands more than anything but at the moment there is nothing better than coming home from rehearsals and writing the next chapter of my story :D

I really don't know what to say so if there is anything more just ask :)

I used to read a lot as a kid... now as im almost done with my undergraduate course in computer science, i've started reading again... it feels really good to have a good book in ur hand.

I read a few of the introductions here... pretty interesting ppl... nice bunch of ppl to discuss what we've read with...

btw, im a hardcore LOTR fan!!!

Hi everyone. I'm new to The Literature Network. I'm a retiree from Ford Motor Company and live in a suburb of Detroit. I studied for a Master's Degree in English Lit at the Univ of Toronto. My grad student advisor was Prof Marshall McLuhan and I took a course in Blake from Northrop Frye. My master's thesis was the literary criticism of Ezra Pound (with whom I corresponded briefly while he was in St Eliz's Hosp in D.C. and I was in the Army, Korean War era--it was he who suggested the Univ/Toronto & McLuhan).
I left Toronto and took U.S. gov't test and was accepted and trained as an Air Traffic Controller in Detroit which I did for five years, then went to work at Ford Motor Company. retiring in 1997. I belong to a Great Books Discussion Group of eight people, and also to a Finnegans Wake Group of four people.
My thanks to anyone who reads this.

hi am new here.am from india.can anybody please help me with the metaphysical elements in John Donne's " A Valediction Forbidding Mourning" and " The Cannonisation", it's my assignment to be submitted in saturday.

I'm down at present for several reasons which I don't think proper to discuss here. One of them has to be the fact, however, that my creative output fails to draw the aesthetic attention of people. I do a bit of painting, I write poetry from time to time, I compose music that's experimental mostly. I am student of literature. I don't look bad. I have few friends. But the ones that I do have are genuine. For a long time I thought I was depressed but one day while watching a white feather dance in the sunlight, I discovered that I'm not. I don't smoke. I don't drink. I love the company of open-minded people. I love the smell of old books. I am phlegmatic. I love the country and wish someday I will have a farmhouse. I believe in God and I hope He believes in me (I hope I'm not committing some Christian sin of self-assertion here; only God and I know what I mean, and He tells me He's cool with it!)

For the last few years I have chosen to spend much of my "real world" time (meaning "after work") in the company of those individuals who, for the most part, ennoble humankind with their ideas and writings rather than those for whom everything is reducible to "eat what you kill". That is not to say that I don't appreciate, and often delve into, the dark side; simply that I find the darker aspects of humanity about as filling as a diet coke. Call me pollyanish but that's how I cope! ;)

I kinda liked the idea of introducing myself in a forum, as the one flaw I see with the concept is the lack of personality.
Unfortunately, I am a man of few words and won't be able to ravish your minds with neither astonishing originality or flawless vocabulary as some of your fine members already might have done.
As a 89' model norwegian I have inherited both the negative and positive aspects that come with the egocentric norwegian culture, my mind is my own, fortunately.
I study psychology, history and pedagogy, and work part - time at a local bowling alley. I really like it there, my co - workers got this sedated group mentality which makes it hard to move at a quick pace, not saying that I am a laid back guy though, but I'd like to be.

I like to read, I really do.
The way some books create alternative routes, hidden paths, expressways, cozy highways, yeah, I'm tired of constant asfalt.
I won't bother to list authors because it won't tell you a thing, I will tell you though; I like books who make me feel good without concrete evidence, I like feeling confused, disoriented by questions who dig through the layers of my brain until a conclusion knocks me out.
One name hits me though, Haruki Murakami, I get lost in his works one after another without fully understanding why, they just eat me.
I don't really care if people read this or not, this is a type of venting after all, but if you do, and get this "my oh my, this guy just broke through to me" feeling I'll be expecting to hear from you.
