Bonjour, salut, comment appelle tu?
Hello everyone. My name is Matt, I'm a philosophy student from Canada with a penchant for fiction. Hope to see everyone around in the threads :)
saying hi and asking for help
i am new to the site and hope it is helpful. I am doing an assignment on Great Gatsby. Need help with a few ideas to get started! In Great Gatsby things are seen in two ways: one hand glamourour, romantic, and exciting and on the other hand crude, corrupt, or even disgusting. This double vision applies to people, places and events. I need to show how this is true, and explain its significance. Any help out there. thanks
Anybody reading Carlos Fuentes The death of Artemio Cruz
I love Carlos Fuentes he presents economic and political problems in a real way. Artemio Cruz is an influential mexican business man. He has made money and he is a powerful figure. In the book, this powerful man is weak and dying. Through, his sickness, he starts looking at his life in retrospect.
Fuentes is unique in his style, sometimes confusing, but he is always deep.In my opinion compared to Carlos some latin writers seems childish or immature.
I like the presence of humbleness and directness in his writing. http://www.online-literature.com/for...es/kaioken.gif
Hello; especially to all Sam Clemens fans
Having attained the personal chronology of three score and ten years, and having no further use of my perfectly good--though slightly worn--birthday, I am most interested in giving my birthday to my grandson, who has the misfortune to be born on November 11, much too close to Christmas.
I would like to use Sam Clemens' letter in which he bequeaths his birthday to a child, but cannot recall the exact words and can't find the reference.
I think, and fondly hope, it's not that Altz thing.
Can anybody help?
Sincerely,
Sam Fox
