Hi,
Hello everyone,
I'm Billie and I'm delighted to be a member of this site.
I'm in my 40's and having done menial jobs all my life, I've now decided to get educated and am just starting an English Lit degree course with the Open University.
Reading is my big passion and has kept me going through the years, my motto being 'if it's got words, I'll read it.' I'm now being more selective and this site is the best to find the sort of material I want. I've been reading here for a while so decided to join the forums and hopefully make some friends.:)

Hello, from ancient Hispania.
I like opera, classical music, cinema, travelling.
My fauvorite city is Barcelona, and I have got too many fauvorite writers... I'll try it: Virgil, Boccaccio, Cervantes, Shakespeare, Voltaire, Rosseau, Goethe, Baudelaire, Maragall, Mann, Joyce (of course), Faulkner, Cortázar, Foix, Ferrater, Nabokov and García Márquez.
Well, bye!!
Nota bene: I'm sorry, I can't speak (and write) well enough in English. Please, forgive my mistakes. I will have the dictonary near, on the table.

But, in fact, I don't understand you at all. Are you angry? Have I lost anything?

I dont think she is angry, she seldom is, I think this is her way of welcome and this is how she makes the newbies feel comfortable. Dont worry. ;) :D

Hello
Hello,
I am new to this wonderful Site so permit me a short introduction of myself.
As my user name gives away I am T.D. Anderson but in order of convenience you may call me Tad. I am a student from Germany. My interests are politics, many kinds of sports and of course reading. I have joined this site to highten my understandig, to learn from different kind of views und to exchange thoughts.
I apologies for the strangeness of my language. I think my english to be exceeding the degree of just beeing sufficent for acceptable conversation but I have some trouble with grammar und I am making mistakes when I am doing word to word translations. So please don´t bother and tell me if something isn´t understandable.
Gruß
Tad

Welcome to the site Tad, and don't worry, you're not the only member here who doesn't use english as their first language :)

Not standing on ceremony
I joined the site a couple of months ago - I found it while doing some research online. I already started a thread but have not yet introduced myself. I love to read novels - reading is my escape from everyday life. I don't currently have a lot of people with which to discuss the books that I am reading, so I was very excited to find this site. I am currently reading "This Book Will Save Your Life" by AM Homes, my first novel by Homes but probably not my last.

Yo!
How are you all? Well, I am doing great, joyful and happy, from life and circumstances. I play the flute and want to make it my career, I'm very busy:sick: from marching band right now, but we do compititions and are doing very well. I'm ecstatic because our theme this year is Edgar Allen Poe's [U]Tell- Tale Heart[U]. We have floorboards at the end of the show in which the guard climbs through. I love the narration in it, too, even though we're having some trouble finding people who want to do it.
I just finished 1984:thumbs_up and am very pleased. I absolutely loved it and want to read Animal Farm. I'm reading To Kill a Mockingbird right now.
PLEASE recommend any and all books. I have a long list right now, but I love to read during the winter especially.:D
