:D It's colloquial for hammered, which is colloquial for drunk, which is colloquial for inebriated. Apparently people just keep getting more and more dumb...

Or one hangs oneself up in a chimney and gets gently smoked from the wood fires beneath. Or is that getting baconed? Or am I just egging you on?
Of course, what counts as "copious" amount is debatable! :p
Thank you! I was just picturing people wrapping themselves up with giant slices of ham to detox their skin... Now I am picturing them hanging upside down from chimney wrapped up with giant slices of ham getting gently smoked from the wood fires beneath! :D
Sweet dreams  haha
Ok, I realize I don't work with the hippest group of guys on the planet but still, if you see a woman with dark nail polish do you automatically think "goth" ?
well, I try not to. Sometimes I do. If there is dark polish and one other thing like black hair or black clothing or some kind of spiked belt or something I probably would. BUt, you can't get less hip than me.
my sister came over for lunch today. I cooked a huge meal. when it was over she didn't even offer to help me take the dishes to the kitchen. It kind of bums me out.
You didn't do the "Hey, can you grab that for me?"?
No, I think that would have been like a lead balloon.
So I guess my original thought of "get of your butt and help" would have been a little too much?
more like the Hindenburg
Bailey had the darkest purple nail polish, but she doesn't look goth
I thought (and still do) that is is just cute polish. I wouldn't have thought anything of it but 3 guys independently said almost the exact same thing - are you goth now. I didn't even think these guys knew what goth was..Is goth still even a thing?
yes, it's huge. Only I think that it's more EMO now, I don't know. I live in a tiny town so things don't even get here until it's over everywhere else.
hahahahaha, I'm picturing Becca and Baki laughing at this conversation..
Anyone would. Sucks being to old to talk about stuff.
Black nail polish is not goth. In fact, its actually in fashion right now. so next time they say it just reply, "no i'm not goth, i'm just in fashion." :p
Black polish has gotten so trendy, I see it everywhere. So tell those guys to get with the times!
You know, there are actually quite a few guys who wear black nailpolish :p though that might just be the line to cross to be considered goth or emo ;) For a girl, I would never think her so. But then again, being labelled like that depends on so many things...
In such cases, when my guest is unlikely to offer help, I also leave everything to be done later on. When I realise that I will have to rush about clearing and tidying while they simply watch me (especially with someone close), I just say, "let's have tea/coffee in the living room" and leave the dishes on the table.
I'd much rather do it when they are gone if I am going to end up doing it on my own anyway. :)
my husband is like that...he gave me that crap when I would get my nails done in black. Actually, I prefer the darkest purples. And, it is a trend now that has nothing to do with goth and I'm seeing people who are not "goths" wearing it. Still, my mother was on my case for my purple/black polish on my toes and she suggested that I might be passed over for promotion at work because of my choice in nail polish. If I don't get a promotion at work, the nail polish is not why. That place promotes who they want black nail polish or not.
I think anything goes with toes!
Shalot> It is still good to be able to say "They didn't promote me because of my nail polish!" :D
Shal - your Mom sounds like my Mom. Last time I was home she remarked that my polish was a little dark, then asked me why i don't wear dresses to work.
The polish I had on was OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark.
Anyways, it's no hope. This morning we had a conversation about why I don't own overalls.:eek2:
did you tell her that dresses don't go with tube socks :)
I hate dresses. Well, it's the pantyhose that I hate.
I wear black polish on my toes all the time...well...not quite all the time but often. I don't wear polish on my fingernails because I wash my hands so often at work and I can't deal with the chipping and flaking. I really don't think black polish has the meaning it once did, just as tattoos and piercings are becoming more commonplace and acceptable.
I don't polish my fingernails because I have short fingers and I don't want to draw attention to my man hands. And, when I do laundry, garden, or scrub pots they end up breaking and chipping. Looks like crap. I hate rubber gloves!
I'm trying to choose between black toenails with spider webs painted on or orange with pumpkin faces. I'm thinking orange big toes and black on the rest. What do you think? I could go with left and right feet
I would go with black with the spiderwebs because I don't look good in orange but if you can pull it off, I say go with the orange, it's much more festive!
How about black big toes and the piggy's in orange?
I only paint my toenails... i vary from two colours... both rimmel colours. Black Cherry and a really nice pearlesent teal green that i really happen to love right now.
I would go for the black as well... Pumpkin is cute but I think children would get a better kick out of the spiderwebs.
Momma Hub, I have hands like a thirteen year old boy. I know how you feel! But I like painting them wild colors so they at least look more girlie :)
Black with spiderwebs!
My hands look so strange with nail polish. I've never been one to polish. You can tell so much about a person by their hands. Mine look like they belong in hot soapy water or work gloves, and they always have. I had a friend in high school who said that I had a mother's hands. That made me feel better about it. Both of my girls have long slender fingers. They are lovely.
I'll stick with the toes
Don't worry ladies- I have a friend whose thumbs look exactly like toes. You know how they're differently shaped? They're short and wide at the end and stubby like toes. It's really, really strange.
I'd love to have long, slender fingers. I have really tiny child-sized hands that match my tiny feet. And I never wear nail polish.
a) it just gets ruined being at the barn
b) I used to bite my nails and for some reason, polish makes me want to chew on them again.
i also agree with the spiderwebs.
I've small hands, but my fingernails are a decent length... my toemails on the other hand, some are tiny.
my toes are tiny, not my big toes but all the rest, so I let them grow just a little or there wouldn't really be any nail at all. when I was dancing all of my toenails would bruise and then fall off. After a while there just wasn't much quick left anymore. They have never really been the same. And my toes are still strange looking, three on each foot have scars from all of the blisters. But, I think they are so far down that people can't really tell what they look like so I show them.
