eldritch - a weird word, weirder than weird, so weirder than weird that it needed it's own weird word, a weirder than weird word, which normal people never use even if they're writing something weird because as a word it's too weird. Bad Science Fiction authors tend to over use it in an attempt to emphasise how weird their story is, but it never works because you think: 'Ah - he's chosen that weird word to emphasise how weird his story is!' which tends to kill the moment.
