Try either Winterschläfer or Heaven for a change of pace. Neither is anywhere near as frantic as Lola Rennt, but Tykwer's visual sense carries right through.Quote:

The Last Metro by Francois Truffaud.
I'd give it 8/10. The best part of the film for me was at the end. I won't spoil it for anyone, though. You'll have to see it yourself. It took me by surprise. the film is about a little theatre in Nazi-occupied France, that is struggling to stay open. Its Jewish owner is in hiding, whilst his gentile wife runs the theatre (on his instructions). Anyway, Catherine Deneuve is probably one of the most beautiful women in cinema IMO, and her presence alongside Gerard Depardieu, give the film a charm all of its own.
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon: 10/10
it was a really awesome movie, and the action sequances were totally awesome! :thumbs_up
anger management... by far my favorite adam sandler movie... just not as dumb as the others. 7/10 and very funny
jack nicholson is very funny, aswell as being very versatile. I liked his about schmidt aswell.
I adore Jack Nicholson. :brow:
lol, so does my mother, too crazy.
If that was an innuendo about age, I will ignore it :pQuote:

I watched eXistenZ last night - a very odd and mysterious movie, indirectly relating to Cartesian philosophy; I rate it 8/10.
i watched tip toes a couple of days ago, wierd story.... i was disappointed 5/10.... gave it a couple of extra points becuase Matthew Mc...... i hate his last name, had no **** on for about a third of his parts in the movie....
I watched 'Garden State' today. I will say in no uncertain terms that I've never identified with any piece of art in any medium like I did with this movie. It honestly felt like this movie was made for me.
Many folks would say this movie is depressing and/or unoriginal. Certainly, there are depressing elements, and you'll hear no arguement from me that the main currents of the movie have been done before. Nevertheless, the overall presentation was vivid and imaginative, and the way in which I related to what I was seeing makes this a very special movie to me. Unequivocal 10/10.
yesterday i tried to watch coffee and cigarettes by Jim Jarmush. i couldn't. i watched for the first 15 minutes and i switched it off. has anyone seen it?
Yesterday I watched: The Little Vampire, some family movie with 'princess' in its name, The Beach, American Pie 1, 2 AND 3, lol, and... no, that's it.
Liked the vampire movei, was soooo funny (family movie), the 'princess' one was pretty good, too, The Beach... well, was a bit... dunno, boring? didn't like it a lot, and American Pie... was laughing my *** off all night long :D. Fave of the trilogy (as far) is the wedding one.
there are a lot of family movies with princess in them.... (ive probably seen all of them) yesterday i watched somethigns gotta give 8/10 and 13 going on 30 7/10
I just watched doctor strange love... 10/10, that was such a weird movie.
last night i watched the day after tomorrow, great epic and disaster movie reminiscent of armageddon and the core but more emotional with family dynamics... i wouldn't say that the acting was the best that i have ever seen but decent enough 9/10 and i watched laws of attraction, fun 9/10... i dont give tens to readily
a friend and i saw "Sideways" the other day. the funniest scene i've seen in my life. probably that scene was rated "r" (note to youth). i give it a 7/8; parts of it dragged but it was set in the california wine country and i like sandra oh.
As a not-youth... could you PM me the R rated scene? Sounds interesting enough :p
Watched 'Behind Enemy Lines' last night... Blah. 4/10
yeah i wasn;t interested in that one either.... watched a man apart.... love the action and emotional undercurrents... hmmm probably an 8/10

nineteen eighty-four. it was as depressing as the book. i think the book was better but i'll give 9/10 to the film. i also think it's better to read the book first. actually i imagined it all in a bit different way, but the film was great anyhow
Was that the B/W version or colour?
i didn't know they made a movie of it, ill have to look for it sometime... just finished watchign JErsey Girl... the best Ben Afflick movie yet, but no doubt that pushes the grade down on but Liv TYler brings it back up, she's jsut a kid... MAtt Damon was iin it too for about two minutes but he's such a versatile actor... so funny the last time i saw him was in borne identity and in tehis one he was a young publiscist making fun of ben's character. 8/10
it was a colour version, funnily enough from 1984, with Richard Burton and Suzanna Hamilton. a scary film :eek2:
I saw a film called 21 Grams last night, not bad; I think it may seem one of those films one must see multiple times to understand. Rating: 7/10.
a few hours ago i went and saw Stage Beauty...not that bad actually.. if you like the shakespeare theme kinda movies..it wasnt that revolved around that but yeah, still, very good movie! :p
Watched 'Gattaca' tonight. Ethan Hawke does a brillian job in it. The storyline was also very interesting as I am reading "Brave New World" at the moment and the DNA oriented society reminded me of the book. Well worth watching. 9/10
I loved Gattaca and totally agree with you. (drools at ethan Hawke)
just watched midnight in the garden of good and evil... has an amazing cast but not sure i really liked the movie... story was good though... for that and john cusak (he's good in just about all of his movies) i'll give it an 8/10, feeling generous tonight...
I watched Van Helsing earlier - not my type of movie; then again, I never seemed a fan of science-fiction or fantasy - not even in literature (no offense). Rating: 3/10.
i thought van helsing got at least a seven... oh well difference of opinions...
i watched shrek 2 (10/10) SWAT (5/10) and Stepford Wives (7/10) (it was one of the best performances by nicloe kidman but the story is just plain wierd... good but weird...)
i only saw the trailler and i really like the philosophical message. It said" everytime a person dies, he/she will loose 21 grams of his/her body weight when he/she still alive. So it said that the 21 grams is actually the weight of the person's soul.Quote:

I watched a 1960s French movie, Jules and Jim, earlier today. For arising a great deal of emotions in me, and for such a controversial plot, I rate it 9.5/10.
Envy with Ben Stiller and some other guy, Jack Black (I had to look it up). It did not provoke the kind of carefree laughter I was in need of, but the company was good.
I watched Old Gringo last night, a film regarding one of my personal favorite writers of all time, Ambrose Bierce. It told an interesting story, but much of it seemed too . . . fiction, considering that all we know about the latter part of Bierce's life concerns his disappearance during the Hispanic Revolution. 6/10
Last nite i got a sudden imsonia and i couldnt sleep, so i checked out my dvd collections and i ended up doing a movie marathon! These were the movies that acommpanied me
One flew over the cuckoo’s nest -Directed by Milos Forman, 5 Oscars and buch of other awards.
No doubt about it. One of some of the rarest masterpieces in the history of movies i suppose. Great story, awesome dialogues, perfect set, professional actors and actresses, and of course wonderful film kru. It’s interesting to see how Milos presented the story, and make it as dazzling as the book. Watching this movie somehow makes me think that a person, regardles of what his/her condition is, has the need to love and to be loved. The friendship that wrapped all the ward members is very touching. And i didnt feel like watching a story about a bunch of people who are considered as lunactis. also learning from some of the characters like billy boy and cheswik, made me think that perhaps freedom is not always about living outside, uncaged and be able to do what ever what we what to do. But it can also means to feel that we’re secure, comfortable, and to be able to be with people whom can we accept and can accept us as well,
I give it (as always) 5:thumbs_up
Clockwork Orange Directed by: Stanley Kubrick
Now, i wish that emily is here to give comment about the movie. This is the first time i saw clockwork and i think,.. well it’s so Kubrick :D. But of course this is another masterpiece about dystopian society. Yet, i dont really get what excatly the point of this movie. I mean is it about how someone has to gone thru the hard way to undertand about respect to other peole. Is it about the fact that each human is actually has his/her own vicious side, which can only be controlled or overcome by his/her own will? I’m not sure. I have to watch it again. I already have the dvd for a quite some time yet, i just got the time to watch it last nite..shame, i know..(for God’s sake it’s Kubrick’s!)
But I love it, so I give it 4 :thumbs_up
The pianist Directed by Roman Polanski, 3 Oscars
This is also my first time, and i think Adrian and Roman Polanski did well. I like the way he imagined himself playing the piano without actually touching it, yet his facial expression shows as if he actually listened to the tunes he played. Another thing that i like is that this is a true movie, and how the movie is wrapped with a story of akward friendship at almost the end the movie. An enemy is an enemy, yet they’re still human as well and compasion can always be given regardless whom your facing. Though perhaps the Nazi captain is being pragmatic with his help coz he’s aware that german is falling and he could use the poor pianist's help sometime in the future. but it's a great movie as well..
i give it 4 :thumbs_up
Adapation Directed by Spike Jones, 2 Golden Globe and 4 Oscar nominations
I only watched half of the movie. Not only becoz my eyes were already tired, but also because this spike jonze’s movie is a diffcult one to understand. It jumps from one time in the present to the old past, then to near past then to the present again. This is actually a story about 3 different characters which is connected with the same thing: orchids. It take some concentration to understand it. Yet Spike is still one of the good directores ever, i have to see this movie again sometime to make sure about it
i give it 2 :thumbs_up for the time being
