That reminds me of a report I heard on NPR about how as people hit the ages of 35-40, their willingness to try new things steadily decreases. No big news there I guess but they had done some study, focusing mostly on musical and food tastes that said that that's the age, 35-40 where a lot of people stop seeking out new music or new foods and I would imagine, new ideas and theories would fit right in there. They were talking about how important it is to continue to keep learning new things, being introduced to new things and not getting in that 'everything new is bad' phase. Common sense, really. It's nice to see you're bucking the trend, Virgil. ;)

I feel like repeating what others said... great interview!
I'm so impressed by people who learn on their own, as in studying something, there are literally thousands of things I'd like to learn but I'm too lazy and i can't do anything if I don't have a class and exams ahead...I lack discipline :( That's probably why I'm going to go to Uni again... :rolleyes:
So I think what you do is great, especially since you probably don't have that much free time with a job and a wife and a grown-up life ;)

Thank you Koa. But it's amazing how much you can squeeze in here and there. Frankly I'm lazy too. I'm sure that not having children makes a difference with spare time.

that's such a cool idea! It's so simple only a genius could have come up with it :) I'll remember that and try it after I finish my univ studies! I like learning new things too, but I'm normally too unorganized to stick to anything for longer stretches of time... this scheme could be really helpful.
your dog is really cute. I think she's my toy dog Fuffel's cousin. He's a golden retriever (as will be immediately obvious ;) from his pic, which I've been promising to post for weeks and still haven't :) )

A year is not too long. It usually means three or four books. You do more for a University class. And I usually break it up with a novels and poetry.

The dog in that picture was my Golden Retriever, Sasha. That picture was taken one or two months before she passed away. She was ill at that point and looks a little haggard. Poor baby.

oh, sorry to hear that. i thought it was Brandi. poor doggy. I'm sure my Fuffel will howl when I tell him.

Yes Virgil you are correct, I am in fact a guy. Though no offense taken Pensive, don't feel bad.

I thought so. I know a few girls do box (from that Clint Eastwood boxing movie that came a few years ago) but I thought it would be unuusual if a lit net girl got in the ring. :D Although I wouldn't want to cross them in a dark alley. :p

Haha, surprisingly enough at my gym there are a fair number of females especially in the younger classes. In the adult classes it's almost exclusively male, and we only have one proffesional female. Under 20 years old though and I'd say it's about 65% girls 35% guys and our amateur ranks are overrun by the girls! Not that theres anything wrong with that, I always loved training when there was a youth class being taught (youth being under 19) because I always worked just a bit harder knowing there were 7 or 8 girls who could potentially be watching me at any moment :lol: .
