Hi man from Neverland!
Could you please tell me how to show a Profile Picture like yours?
'Tis a she, FYI. Welcome to the LitNet Forums!
I joined a few weeks ago. I am so busy on another forum, I haven't really had time to begin my life here as it were. But, now I do. I am 19 from IA/MN, and my name is grace, I was born in the summer (July 29, '86) so ''summer grace'', and summer is my favorite season. I love literature, and have since I was eight, especially poetry. Some of my favorite poets are Emily Dickinson, Sara Teasedale, Emily Bronte, Christina Rosseti, Ernest Dowson, A. E. Housman, Edna St. Vincent Millay. Also, I have recently become fascinated with the Fitzgeralds, particularly Zelda. Anyway, I also love history, royalty, and the like. I would post a list of historical interests, but they are so many. So maybe later. And I love writing poetry, and have since I was 10. As well, I like reading, writing, walking, quotations, forums, Early Hollywood, listening to music, and magazines, and wandering around cemeteries ( I know that's a bit weird in most people's opinion) and watching figure skating ( never tried it), and summer. And most likely other things I haven't thought of.
In many ways my favorite role model of all time is Emily Dickinson. I love to discuss what literature and history with people online because there is no one around me interested in such things. I also enjoy making friends who have interests like mine ( it is so rare). So, as long as I am not horribly busy on the Russian history forum, I will try to post here. I really love it here!
Welcome Summer. I look forward to discussing these things with you. So jump right in somewhere.
Welcome Summer Grace. What a pretty screen name. It sounds like you have lots of wonderful interests, and I think you'll find many very interesting people to share them with here. Look forward to chatting with you in the forum.
Hello Everyone! I am also a "Newbie". This is my first time at this site and the first message posted. A little about me. I am a "nontraditional-aged" recent college graduate. I studied neuroscience and physiological psychology and plant to do a Master's degree in nursing. My interests include art, music (particularly classical, but other genres as well), pilates, yoga, reading, studying, literature, gardening, and my children. I'm not sure what to expect from this site, but, I'd like to know more about literature, so I guess I'm in the right place.
Greetings from a new greeter, greeted ones,
I recieved the monicker Mililalil because of my love for literature,
a love arranged like many flowers,
according to the number of the stars (the good ones, not the blinkers).
Before I took on this erstwhile autonym, I was but known by 50 names -
now I am Mililalil....the Fourteenth!
Thanks to all of you for your precious forebearance.

Hello, I'm Alex. I chose my username because I've been reading a lot of Shelley, and I although I don't write any poetry, I love Shelley and am also reading a bit of Byron and Keats.
I suppose I'm one of the younger people on here, as I'm only 14. But I enjoy reading and writing, so I thought I should try joining a slightly more intellectual forum for a change...

Hello. I am Belle.
Hi Belle. I am Pensive.
I just had to grin when I saw your post, Pensive. I guess I deserved that.
I'm just not good, nor am I keen on giving introductions, but thought to pay homage to this thread since I am new. :D (To my thinking, it is better that you form your own opinion on who I am by our future interactions, and not by what I want to tell you.)
Anyway, thank you for your acknowledgement. I look forward to exchanging words with you and everyone here at the forum.
Hello all you newbies! I hope you enjoy the forums :D
Belle, Believe me, You will have a nice time here and hopefully, you will find a lot of friends. Keep on posting!
Hi!
This is about the third thread I've actually taken the time to read a smattering of posts from since I discovered this site (perhaps an hour ago) and the first two were in the A Portrait of the Artist as Young Man.
I actually found this site by searching for it. I didn't know it existed, but over the past few weeks I have come to realize a certain futility in reading books without discussing them with other people. So I searched for "literature discussions", among other terms, and found this seemingly perfect site as a match for what I saught.
Unfortuneately however, I was kind of disappointed with the threads for A Portrait. I suppose it's a relatively obscure work (although I had hoped that in such a community as this there would have been more discussion about it--guess I should just be happy it was on the list of novels...). I just hope that this is the environment I envision it to be and that it doesn't fall short of my expectations, however high they may be. (I am an idealist after all.)
Hmmmm... I hope all that doesn't sound too negative... I'm generally a positive person but I felt these particualr sentiments of mine would reveal significant aspects of my character relevant to this new setting, which is one of the things an introduction should do, or at least, what I wanted to do with mine.
Overall I am looking forward to this experience with great excitement and intend to gain and offer much to and from this network!
