The tooth!

Her front tooth was gone.
It seemed like a bitter joke.
She looked into the mirror again
but saw only a big hole
where the tooth had been.
It would have fallen out
on the path that lead to her house,
as she was munching that hard toast.
She hadn´t even noticed.
Now it probably lay there, defiantly,
Mocking her and all the other teeth.
She summed up courage
and rang the dentist.

I have to think a bit more about this.

Forgive for posting only now. If you watched the news yesterday you already know that we had Capitol Day here yesterday:
Congress, Presidential Palace and Justice Palace were all three of them invaded and had their rooms destroyed. The one good thing: it seems no people were harmed because the buildings were mostly empty.

The destruction

It looked like a scene in a bad play:

The vaulted rooms reminiscent of church aisles

glared at me:

chairs torn from the ground,

tables turned upside down.

small waterfalls descending

on brand new carpets,

documents strewn all around,

begging in desperation

for a better home or study.

A melancholic sight, no doubt!

gold country january 2023

I drove to a market to stock up on supplies -
a wan glow from the "stay home" moon shone,
but only at glimpses through the wind rage...
later I learned, with the winds roaring on the
order of a cyclone, disorder and desperation
speedily joined as mass flooding, uprooted
great trees, and mudslides due to saturated
soils befell unsuspecting families in the chaos

Fantasy

An empty stage

Just a gown carefully laid out

On the old chair beside the table.

The gown is wrought in golden seeds.

What shadowy character

From a non existent cast

is going to wear it?

At this point,

there is a change.

The stage is replaced

by a deep blue see,

birds sing, announcing aurora.

Will come back later with my effort. Just got power back 2-hrs ago. At 4am PST or so after I posted my poem we got either a direct lightning hit and/or an F0 tornado hit... flash then hard shock to house... a power line went down about 2-miles away coincidentally and we weren't the only ones in the area to get the hard shock. Luckily since church was cancelled Sunday and we had had a break between storms I had set up my generator and another for my sister-in-law across the property and we were good to go to stop our food in the fridges from spoiling... we ran the generators for 3-hours then off because gas is way too expensive to keep them running constantly. Refilled 3-gas cans today which hold 5-gallons each cost just over $75.00 USD.
Cell service up and down not to mention no wifi with no power :(

Going to see what I missed on LitNet so far then ponder writing :)

Take your time, tailor, avaiting your poem when you are ready for it. We are all being swept by tsunamis natural and political these days. Good thing you have these generators to protect your food from getting spoiled.

he cavorted and danced emulating
an inflatable arm flailing tubeman -
analogous perhaps to an orangutan
with upraised arms with his great
ginger hair - only more sinuously, like
an anemone swaying in the open sea

she had rice still in her golden tresses
crying through her joyous lilting laughter
as she came down the stairs - lithe and
majestically sensuous in the full honey
moon that shone upon them both -
færie royalty on midsummer's night eve

Charming romantic poem, loved the humorous contrast between the orangotanic groom and the emotive bride. And the glow of enchantment that emanates from the poem as if the honey moon had been yesterday.

Tha doesn´t make it easy for me, every attempt now can only be very modest.

Travelling

When you want to feel
the wide world open to you,
take a lift on a train.
Settle on the roof
and just watch the flow:
hamlets, bridges, green fields pass you by.
Maybe a solitary smattering of cattle greets your eye,
or you overhear
the echo of a dog barking in the plains,
while the more distant mountains
ponder about merging into the
indefinite blue of the sky.
You stretch out on the top of the world
lazily listening to the distant song of a triangle.
Or is it a harmonica?

toil of the undead

lumbering, dragging a casket into
a cavern of ancient limestones
where bickering riotous bats flit
through the ever-night damp air
hoping to be lost to the ages once
more, seeking to heal the ravages
of time spent out of stasis within
his casket far from ancient home

existing within the world of the
living is always a challenge of
predation and discovery - his prey
becoming ever more sophisticated -
hence the cavern and laborious toil
wending through grottos and past
pools, wedging into increasingly
tight spaces away from prying eyes
