Hi. Question # 1- In the first chapter of the book, what did the author mean about his brothers "being born on their backs with their hands in their trouser pockets"?
HOw did his parents die and his other siblings? Did they die young? Pip never got to see his parents,how was he able to describe how his parents looked? Thanks.

Newby here, and don't have a clue what book you are refering to, but anybody born on their back with their hands in their pockets would be someone that's more than just lazy. That praticular individual would be so lazy they wouldn't take their hands out of their pockets long enough to put food in their mouth.Quote:

Here goes nothing. I am new to this sight. Found it while studying for the CSET exam to get my English teaching credential. I have a BA in Journalism which I thought would somehow make me qualified. While in college (back when dinosaurs roamed the earth) I did have to take lit classes, but mostly I learned to get a good story and write - not really delve into the finer points of the classics. Boy, am I overwhelmed!
