Hiya. =)
I'm Adesaria. Ade. Addy.
I love to write (apparently I"m related to Shakespeare. ^^ Yay!). And dance. I take five classes on dance and teach three. I'm fourteen and in high school (wooo, fun.), and I like drama too. Well, Theater. Not Drama.
I hope y'all know what I mean.
Anywho!
I have been writing a book for eight years now. (Yes, eight.) And it is on its 102nd page so far. Yessssssssss. Happiness.
And it's only the first of three!
Check out my website. ^^ freewebs.com/neverendingchronicles
Hehe.
That's all!
Greetings Adesaria. Good luck with your writing! I can empathise with a never-ending novel, I've been writing one for 4 years now and it seems no closer to ending...
Hi all. I'm new to the forum and am looking forward to getting to know you all. I read practically anything I can get my hands on. I've been a loyal science fiction and fantasy fan since I was a kid and at the moment I am big into classic novels (just finished reading Great Expectations recently). I am also an avid fan of comic books and graphic novels.
Hi everyone!
Hello newbies! :)
hi
im a loyal fantasy reader, i grew up on eddings and then moved on to gemmell, hobbs, pratchett, brooks and robert jordan, george r.r martin is my favourite at the moment
its good to be here
Hey,
This looks like a jungle of sorts here. I feel overwhelmed.
I am Jane Jane and I live in a sort of half desert, half wooded place. Sometimes calm and peaceful, sometimes noisey, at tourist season.
I am an artist, do illustrations, I am also a free lance writer for magazines and for anything else that I know anything about and pays well!
I will just sit back and read and learn now.
Welcome to all you new folks, you will love it here! :)
Hello there!
I'm a twenty year old girl from Catalunya (Europe). I'm studying Journalism, Advertising & Communication, I'm in my third year of university. I loooove reading; I have to thank a teacher I had when I was eight years old, who really motivated us to get into literature, and I used to read a book every day by then.
I also love cinema and tv shows, and I write from time to time. I'd love to get a book published one day (who wouldn't?). I practice Judo (I'm brown belt), I'm learning German and I teach English to three people (nothing official, though).
So, that's it. :) I hope to have fun in here!
Welcome Lain :) I've been to Catalunya and loved it :)

"Panza fan": Don Quixote's fan, perhaps?
I'm Joel, and I am a junior at UNC. My majors are English and philosophy, though my real passion is literature. I write some of my own poetry, but as I have no formal training or anything, I'll just say I dabble. My mom got me into reading in the first grade with My Father's Dragon, which is an amazing book for children, and I haven't looked back since.
Oh, and anyone who can tell me where my handle comes from gets bonus points ;)
Hello, everybody :)
I´ve just jumped in, so the first thing to do is introduce myself...
I love reading (obvious :D ) and I was looking for a place to practise some English, so... what a better one than a book forum ? I typed those two words in google and... voila... here I am ;). I´m Spanish so, although I think I have a good English level, be comprehensive if I make mistakes (and please correct me if make a really big one :p  )
I supose I should start telling you about my favourite books or something but I don´t have any favorites really, the list changes constantly...
Currently I´m reading two books: one is "Dragon Memory" by Javier Negrete, a Spanish author, so you probably don´t know about it, and the other is "The day of the ants" by Bernard Werber, not too popular either. The last ones have been "The road" by Cormac McCarthy, "The book thief" by Markus Zusak, and "The fly" -a short story- by George Langelaan.
Lately I´m into Sci-fi, but I read many different novel genres.
And, well, that´s all... I´m going to have a look around to make myself familiar with this place.
See you :)
Welcome, huihuffaker. :) I would love to hear one of your poems. :) As for posting threads, you have to be in the subforum you want to post the thread in (ie. "General Literature", "General Chat", "Introductions", etc.). There should be a button that says "New Thread" just above the part that says "Threads In Forum".
You might just want to visit this thread: "Using the site: A tutorial for newbies." It's a lot more clear there because of the use of images.
Hi i'm avon from wales in the uk, i love fantasy books.
anything with magic or mythical creatures and im there.
i have read harry potter series, what has been relesed out of the inheritance cycle (eragon and eldest) and i have read many of terry pratchets books. Which i have found every funny, easpecialy 'the wee free men' (a must read).
i'v have joined this site as i don't know anyone who shears my passion for reading
I think four months isn't a long absence, still I want to RE-INTROIDUCE myself and pay my salutations to lit-net pals.
Hello, it's formality hater greeting you all!
Hi Formality Hater...welcome back.
Hello also to you Avon...I'm sure you'll find many people with similar interests.
Hi all,
Just a little hello from me,
I'm 21 in a few weeks (whoop), a third year English Language & Literature student (mainly Literature) at the University of Liverpool, UK (EU Capital of Culture for 2008 could I just add).
I'm a big bookworm and spent a great amount of my younger days reading Science Fiction and Fantasy, I came to University to study "real" books and realised all the best ones are Fantasy of some sort anyway.
The pressures of my course are such that I dont get a chance for a lot of reading off the curriculum (after all you can always read ANOTHER book by that author, its only going to help), but I do enjoy my music and have been teching myself guitar this last year or so. I'm also a fairly proficient fencer (the sword fighting kind, not the garden variety) and am training for the Liverpool Half Marathon in March... at least I will be soon as my exams are over (5 days to go).
Can I also say that this website has been a godsend in the last few years, whenever I've had a quote in my head but couldn't remember the chapter, or I wanted to follow the course of a particular word through a novel, the search feature on this website was resorted to on more occassions than I can count. I'd never write an essay on a book I hadn't read but your website has allowed me to get closer to the text and uncover layers I simply would not have had time to do by doing a detailed re-reading of texts on top of the my normal workload.
Thanks for being there,
Laughablefellow
ok, so introduction: Hello all, i'm karamel :)
I love reading, basically anything - this year I however decided to devote most of the time left to Kierkegaard and re/reading Dostoyevsky..will see
What else left to say - I love this site, I am very grateful for it and as I was munching on my karamel lollie, I thought why not join in...
anyways, glad to be here, k.
Hey everyone! Um, I'm new to this site......obviously, and yeah. I live in the east coast of America. Hmm, my favourite book.
I usually like every book I read, and it becomes my favourite, but some of the recent ones that I love.
The Little Prince, Frankenstein, Watchmen, Lolita, Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, The Stranger, and No Exit.
My favourite author I'd say is Kurt Vonnegut, my favourite book by him is Time-Quake, with Cat's Cradle as a near second.
I also like reading Freud, which is not fiction, obviously, but yeah. Does that count?
As far as short stories go, I'm not too familiar with many authors, but Woody Allen's short stories and essays are absolutely ace, and well, I idolize the man :).
Books I'm currently reading:
The God of Small Things (I might not continue reading this one)
Watchmen (one more chapter to go!)
Sirens of Titan (for english class :-D)
Jokes and Their Relation to the Unconscious
hey! im new at this so it has taken me awhile to figure out where to post my poems so if anyone has any advice on how to get the hang of this im all ears. people have told me that my poems are kinda depressing so im sorry if you do not like them. i tend to write a lot when i am emotional so i think that might have something to do with my poems are the way they are.i think the reason i wanted to post my poems was to see what other people thought that werent my close friends. so this will be the test to see if they are really any good so i hope everyone will be honest about them. i honestly dont think that they are all that good but i love to write and i like to be able to express how i feel and i have learned that its the best way i know. so please enjoy :D
I haven't welcomed people in a while. Welcome to all the newbies.
Juls I look forward to reading some of your poems. We have have quite a few people who write poetry and we comment on each other all the time. As to where to post them, go to the Personal Poetry forum and start a new thread for a poem. :)
hello :)
My name is Briony. I am 17 and currently applying to a number of different Universities to study English Lit (what else!)
I absolutely adore Victorian Lit - the Bröntes are my favourite authors, shortly followed by Gaskell, Hardy, Arthur Conan Doyle and of course Dickens.
Browning & Byron poetry wise. Oh and a bit of Alfred Lord Tennyson.
Apart from English Lit, my other passion is old black and white films from the 1930s-1950s
Give me Laurence Olivier and Ingrid Bergman over Brad Pitt and Reese Witherspoon anyday.
If I could only save 5 things from my burning house, they would be my ancient copy of Jane Eyre, my family (had to put them in there!) my 'Sherlock is my Holmesboy' t-shirt, my Brideshead Revisted DVDs (and my Hitchcock ones too) and my photo albums
I think those are the basics anyway
I already love this community :D
Welcome to all!
hollywoodkid, I think you'll like it here. You'll find a lot of people with those same loves!
I feel a little inferior to all of you!
I am a student who is absolutely in love with reading all different types of literature. I just finished reading Jane Eyre and absolutely loved it. I have never known a classic like that to be such an easy read-- though that does not mean I don't read and love them. I do!
Like many of the romantic minded, I love Jane Austen's novels. Call me a softie if you will, but they are extremely entertaining. At the moment I'm in the middle of Northanger Abby. It makes me laugh so hard.
My friends and I are trying to compile a list of greatest fictional men, so maybe I'll get around to starting a thread on that topic? If it has not already?:D
wellcome to the site Jane and to all the new members HI!!
Hi there!
