I don't know the difference. I've never had either. Crawdaddies, a more interesting word.

I believe they're the same thing. East Tennesseans say "Crawdaddy" and Cajuns or some Lousianians say "Crawfish." At least I think that's how it goes. I used to watch for them in the creek behind my grandfather's and I believe they called them Crawdaddies.

crayfish, crawfish and crawdad are all the same thing. I guess up north they call them crayfish. I went to a Japanese steakhouse and the chef was Cajun. He brought it to my attention that he calls em crawfish and we call em crawdaddies. :D I love how different regions have different words for the same thing. And the natives love their word over the others but they know that that other people love their word for it more. There's a strange love for words that are specific to a particular region among the locals.
