Which cartoons belong in a newspaper?
Not as many that exist there. My personal favorites: Peanuts, Garfield, Doonesberry, Calvin & Hobbes, The Family Circus, and loads more that I cannot think of presently. Portland has a few independent, local magazine/newspapers that feature smaller-time comics - a bit darker humor, but hilarious!
In a stage/screenplay, would you rather play a hero/ine or a villain, and why?
Well, I think I'd be better as a villain. Whenever I was in school plays I always felt most sympathy with the meaner characters. Also it seems that one would have more artistic liberties as a villain. Plus, generally the villain gets cooler makeup and costume. I was the queen in the Jaberwocky, but we can both figure out who I would rather have been! :)
Same question, it is a good one!
I have acted very little, and do horribly; in both plays I acted in, I had to because we had a shortage of actors and actresses, and both times I shook in my boots on stage. Both times, however, I played villains, which I actually liked. It seems difficult to play a hero well, because there exist such a variety of heroes - the dramatic, satirical, vigilante, clever - but with villains, it seems not only an easier part to play, in terms of complexity, but an actor can get so much more creative on stage/screen.
Have you thought about taking lessons for anything recently, and for what?
I've thought about taking saxophone lessons again, beacuse it's been so long and I've gotten so rusty, or my sax has gotten rusty. Either way, we sure don't sound as good together as we used to.
Do you laugh in the face of rain?
With so much rain in Portland, you have to, or else the rain will drive one nuts!
Do you use umbrellas when it rains?
No, because I bike everywhere, so it would be inconveniant, instead I have a wonderful rainproof set which I don, and look foolish in, ans suffer public humiliation with, but which keeps me nice and toasty. When walking though I'll try to remember one of my three umbrellas...
Do you own colourful wellingtons, and if not, what would they look like?
I have owned one pair as a child, blue ones; I would wear them while going fishing with my grandfather - then I lost one of them, at about age 5, when a stream swept me away. I crawled out of the stream without problems, but never recovered the boot.
Same question.
Mine are blue too, with a white stripe at the bottom, but I would love to get some taller and more well fitting ones, and in that case I might make the effort to find something colourful and interesting. The cancer foundation recently made a pair with breasts all over them! :D
When does the fat lady sing?
When she deems it the end, but I have always wondered who will sing at the fat lady's funeral one day.
Have you ever read a book in one day?
Yes!
Have you?
A few - The Old Man and the Sea, multiple plays, especially those by Arthur Miller and George Bernard Shaw that one can consume easily, The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Prince, The Awakening.
Do you prefer reading in public or at home?
At home, but all the reading I seem to be doing these days is on the train.
Should one be allowed to talk in the library?
Yes, but quietly. I admit myself as one of those types who gets annoyed by loud people in the library.
If someone kept being excessively loud in a library, would you ask them to quiet down or bear with it?
I'd bear with it or leave.
Do you like to go fishing?
