Both. re: Parallel universes... I used to make up stories in my mind after I went to bed - one story went on for months, maybe a year or so; helped me to toddle off to sleep :)

My wife and I used to give each other 1-present at midnight prior to the family opening presents on Christmas morning :) No Boxing Day for us (26th).

Christmas celebration here in Brazil is at midnight with the midnight mass and Christmas supper afterwards. At home we celebrated earlier on the 24th, because in Germany people celebrate on Chistmas Eve and then have two holidays, the 25th and the 26th.
Today I don't have a special holiday any more.
