Actually, there's been a multitude of school things, art exhibitions, and now the end of year tests.
Oh, wow.
So...besides those, what have you been up to?
hmm, i've just finished with directing the school play thing, which was a rather stressfull, but highly amusing. more recently though, there's been a series of scandals at school, involving the expulsion of 22 people. Hence there's been a very strained atmosphere, and everyone is slightly down.
And yourself Robin?
Mm, can't complain. Most of the more stressful things at school are done with at this point, so I'm relaxing a bit more...
What happened with those 22 people?
most danish High school's are member's of a registry system on which the teachers can register our class absence and our grades, etc. Then the administrator's can monitor the absence, and if anyone goes over the limit of 10% they risk expulsion.
There was one of the 12th grade classes that got hold of a teacher's code onto the net and thus manipulated their absence as well as their grades. it was found out obviously, and those responsible were expelled, since it's a punishable crime. theoretically they could have broken into a safe to get the same documents.
the last three were not part of that. they lived at the boarding school and had brought some friends over. later the friends got violent and completely pommeled another guy from the boarding school, who had done them no offence, but merely passed by on his bike. the school was very harsh about it, and punished them as if they had done it themselves. they were given 24 hours to leave the boarding school. It's outrageous, since one of them is 15 and her parents live in Italy.
Yeesh. Some people...
in any case, three of us got together and wrote up a petition, whereupon we had 216 people sign it saying we supported the girl's and hoped the school would reconsider this decision. wether it'll help or not i don't know.
Query, how do you think such a situation would have been handled, wherever in the world you are?
Which girls?
ah, my bad, the three that got kicked out due to their aquaintance with the bullies. the whole situation is laughable and deeply tragic.
Hmm...well, I can't say much, given that I don't know anyone involved personally...would the bullies have been on site were it not for the girls, or would their access have been restricted?
no, they wouldn't have, they were invited, but they had left the boarding school grounds at the time of the incident, thus the girls shouldn't be held responsible.
So the bullies left the company of the girls before the beating?
yes, and the victim was one of their good friends. He was the first to sign the petition, though he could only see with one eye...
Well, first and foremost, goes to show you should pick your friends carefully. Second of all, bum luck for the victim. And third, were the bullies allowed on the premises to begin with?
haha, yes. They were, so long as they left by 11pm, which they did... so yeah. the funny thing was that no one saw signs of their being bully types, they were completely normal, met all the borders, shook hands, etc. everyone found them friendly, that's what they told the police as well when the guys got arrested. (they're facing three years of prison.)
Oh, good. In that case, what on earth are the adminstrators doing??
That's not good... Is it a really big school?
