That's what I assumed, and, no, I won't let you down.
If you want to send it that's fine, but it's not really that important. Don't worry about it.

Quark, you are too funny!
No seriously, I do want to send it; I just could not burn CD's right with my old computer - this one does it in a flash. I can burn it while, I do something else. I just need to dig out the set and copy the last one. I have the first two CD's done in two sets for you and Virgil. Would be a waste not to send them now.Quote:

And do you still oppose Niamh idea of putting our threads in a directory? I'll tell her not to do it, if there's a problem.
Quark, No, because she explained to me in an email that it would just be a link to our pages/threads. Just so these threads stay open and active, I am fine with it. You can easily make up a list yourself though, by going to the top of this page and pulling down the 'Thread Tools' menu and you will see 'Subscribe to this thread' and if you do this with all your active threads, it keeps a list just for you. I do it all the time. I then just have to go to 'Quick Links' and pull that down to my 'Subscribed Threads' - so easy! even you can do it, I am sure...;)
Oh, Quark, I was just kidding with you. Do you feel wounded?
I burned that last CD tonight, but now I think I should have done it with itunes. I am not sure why it won't show the full listing in the Mediaplayer program - sort of odd. Maybe my new Mediaplayer program works differently. I will try playing it on my other CD player, one with my stereo. It should play fine. The first two I burned using itunes, but they all are WMA files - that is standard CD format (not MP3). After you get them you can download them and put into MP3 format, if you want to listen on an Ipod.
Ok sure, I will email her if you need it in the directory. It is just a link, right? I will ask her again to make certain that we can continue to post in our regular threads - this one and the L one, right? I don't want to do something crazy and then regret it.Quote:
Anyway, I'll PM Niamh and tell her to put the Chekhov thread into the directory. If you want to her to include the L discussion too, just tell her.
Not really, but I wanted to make sure you know I noticed.
I'll probably jusy listen to it on my computer. Don't worry about what format the file is in. I have a player for everything.
I believe it is just a link, and hopefully it will make the thread easier to find.
Oh good; I really didn't think you were. I know how we joke with each other by now.;)
That is what I do. I actually have my stereo speakers hooked up to my computer, so I have sort of surround sound with 4 speakers - sounds pretty good, since this is a small room. It is easier to play on the computer. However, I do still own a Sony Discman and I listen on there as well when I am in bed. I had this brainstorm to copy a set Virgil lent me - two discs in MP3 format; ok, so I thought, I will make WMA files to listen to on my Sony Walkman - well it said 'will take multiple discs' - ok, I thought about 5 probably....NOT! as it turned out it took 16 discs. I am just a bit wacky I think, but at least I can listen to the book now, on the Walkman or the regular stereo.Quote:

Hopefully, but I like my method just fine. It is fast and easy to get to all the categories I seek out daily with the Quick Links: Subscribed Threads, Social Groups, and Today's Posts. I can flip back and forth, in seconds, to each section of threads....works for me.:DQuote:

I, myself, can find the thread easily, but I thought that if the thread were in the general literature section then it would be more visible for others. The Chekhov author thread is a little out of the way, and someone looking for a short story discussion might not notice it.
Ok, Quark, now I get your point. I guess the sticky thread will just direct them over to our pages and other short story discussions. Maybe this way we will get some more interested participants.
I burned the 3rd CD's last night and will try and send the set off to you, and Virgil on Friday. I have to go to the bank and PO that day, anyway. I will PM you tonight to make sure of the address or you can send it to me via PM. I did it in itunes - worked much better. It will play in either though.
Quark, Yeah, we could use some fresh faces in here.
Gee-wiz, really - you mean you haven't read all of Chekhov's stories?Quote:
Oh, good. If I remember right, I think there's a few stories on that set that I haven't read before.
Revising this today: Calling Quark; where did run off to ? I was going to mail the CD set on Friday when I went to the PO, but I held off, since you didn't get back to me on the address (see the PM I sent you). I will mail next week, if I am sure of the address; didn't you move recently?
Finals. I've been having to deal with finals. I'm close to being done, though. Soon--very soon--I'll try to restart the thread. Friday I'll pick a story, and as early as Monday I could post the intro. It might take longer than that to get people back to the thread, though.
As for the CDs, feel free to send them to that address. I did move, but I'm friends with the people there. I can stop by and pick the CDs up there.
Hi Quark, Just read your PM, great; will do that - see my reply. Oh, I figured it was finals and a heavy workload for school. If you want to hold off until January for the story, it is fine with me. The thing is, we are still working (more like chipping away) at a (longer than normal) Lawrence story; a compicated one takes longer, too. I don't see it ending until this month is up. I am waiting now for Virgil to comment on some long commentary, I wrote the other night...I got a sudden burst of ambition. Then there is the Shakespeare play - hopefully, the new one won't start until January; however, we are suppose to be continuing (we are all behind on this one) the discussion of "Merry Wives of Windsor"...... no one seems to be able to catch up and I have myself, been totally totally overwhelmed, so to start a new thing here, might be impossible or with little participation, unless you pick a really short and easy one this time. That may be workable....but Christmas is upon us, also; I know I have to decorate for my family and so I don't know how much I can concentrate on things on the computer this month. We'll see.
But still it is good to see you return and at least post a few words in this thread. Good luck with your finals! A smart guy like you will do great, I am sure.
