my last birthday, so a few months ago.
it was "an inordinate fondness for beetles" not much by way of literature, and not very technical, but enjoyable no less.
have you ever eaten an insect/bug/arachnid? did you enjoy it?
no, I don't think so, I hope not since I'm a vegetarian...
below: do you believe in marrige?
Not really, but if I was with someone who felt it was important to get married I would.
What is your earliest memory?
Watching the helicopters land "in my backyard." We lived in park housing in Yellowstone. I don't even know what the hellicopters were doing there, but I loved to watch the orange windsock. I was three.
Good question. I pass it along.
I think it may have been of my grandfathers brown transistor radio and listening to baseballs games on the thing.
same question
When I was two and in my old house. I remember the hallway and looking up the stairs. Another one is flying kites with my Grandad at the Race Course, not sure what one came first!
Same question
Sister hitting me with a small bucket thingy with which kids play in the sand, it was winter and we were out with the other kindergarden kids, the bucket was full of ice and she hit me in the forehead (explaining SO much things already, isn't it? :p), and then mum (she was working in the kindergarden then) trying to push the swelling away with a huge honkin knife (remember her saying something about its cool blade and something like that). Don't even remember why I was hit *sulks* :D
same question
I remember flying kites with my best friend. I don't remember how old I was, though. But the kites wouldn't fly :(
what is calculus?
What about the question ?
Oh, right, well, what about "what is your earliest memory?" :p
the atlantic ocean out of my left side window seat. was between 1.5 and 2 years old. dad wasn't with us, i recall - found out later that this was accurate; he'd gone home complements of the air force on another plane.
same question (should it be a new thread ;) ?)

same question
Wow, popular question.
I must have aged 2 years or younger (since my parents split at just above 2 years of my age). Anyway, late at night, I woke up with a jump from a nightmare, got out of my bed onto the cold floor, and looking at my older brother, sleeping on the top bunk of our bed. I walked quiety out of the room, took a left turn into my parents' room, and stopped at the door, watching them sleep, as I still felt a little dazed. On a shelf to my right sat a small cactus plant, and, remembering my parents always told me to never touch it, curiosity took over, and I touched it, getting poked. I jumped back, and let out a little cry, then cuddled between my parents in their bed, and fell asleep with no more nightmares.
To the person below me: what pet, in your life, have you loved most?
My guinea pig, Oscar. She (it was a she, although Oscar) died in February at the age of 5 :bawling:
same question
:bawling: Marmalade my cat got lost when i was 8
same q!
Murray, fat white cat who functioned best as an inner-knee warmer at night.
Or maybe Bunny, my stuffed pink rabbit.
How old were you when (if!) you gave up on your comfort blanket/toy/object, and whatever became of it?
I had a 'teddy dog' I named Garpur, the Icelandic name for the He-man action figure but I lost him while traveling around the country when I was 4. then I got a fox I named Mori when I was six, but I had to give him up among 16 others when I was 15 and got Spock, but I still have them all.
same Q?
I had a puppet thing, until I was around 6 and decided to tie it to a helium balloon I had got from a carnival. I let the balloon go and the puppet flew away - I cried like a baby that night.
same Q.
I have had a few teddy bears in my life that I prized very much, and still own them, though they now rest in some boxes in my attic for many years now, to avoid the natural wear-and-tear. I still have a quilt, that my great-grandmother gave me weeks after my birth; as a child, I had a bit of a Linus complex (from Charles Schultz's Peanuts), always carrying around the quilt:

To this present day, I still sleep with it every night, as it still exists in relatively mint condition.
To the person below me: same question.
I had this baby pillow that I always used to carry with me. I couldnt sleep without it. I would still have had it to this day if it werent for my cat. What happened was *starts blushing* my cat was locked in my room by accident one time when I went out. When I came back I found that she had did her business on my pillow! I think I was 11 at the time :D
To the person below me: has your week been stressful. If so, why?
yes... exams coming too hot cant sleep bad pillow and my sisters just gone and broken her ankle on a trampaline! Also Im trying to convince my mum to buy a BBQ soon! :D
PBM same q
A bit. One of my coworkers has quit and we haven´t found a replacement yet, and I have been on sickleave for a while, but strangely the paperwork has kept on piling up. I think small elfes comes and leaves it on my desk. My garden looks like a jungle. Perhaps the elfes plant weeds as well?
Why do deer eat strawberry plants and tulips, but not weeds?
Hmmmm Im not too sure, but maybe they just know what is good for them and instinctively know what to avoid. Its just like rabbits, they dont eat particular foods which arent good for their digestive tract. I dont know, maybe its an evolutionary thing????
To the person below me: same question :D
Ok, I did a little quick research & this is what I have been able to find:
from http://wvgardengate.homestead.com/fi..._Deer_Diet.htm
"Toxicity is one of the most common reasons deer leave particular plant families unharmed. Examples of this include the ranunculaceae family (native buttercups), aquilegia (columbine) and daffodils."
"These plants are usually left alone for several reasons--they are toxic to wildlife, the aroma of the plant is repulsive, foliage is too fuzzy or plants include prickly parts that make it difficult to eat."
from http://home.adelphia.net/~geffert/food.htm
"Nuts:
These include both red and white acorns, beechnuts and hickory nuts. Acorns are low in protein but high in carbohydrates, the best source of energy. If acorns are plentiful in your area you can bet the deer will be eating them to put on the extra weight that is need to survive the winter. Whitetails prefer the white oak acorn most of all. It has a sweeter taste that the red oak acorn.
Plants:
Non-woody plants are very important to the deer especially during the Fall months. Deer graze on grasses, sedges, and ferns. Plants usually appear after a fire. These areas become very lush and attract large concentrations of deer. Plants also thrive along roads, forest openings, powerlines, and at the edges of fields.
Woody Plants:
Deer turn to woody stems or twigs (called browse) after the leaf fall. Because "browse" is poor in nutrition deer will eat it only if nothing else is available. An example of the woody plants that deer eat are: maples, dogwoods, aspen, blueberry, hemlock, poison ivy, honeysuckle, sumac, poplar and chokecherry.
Mushrooms:
Deer eat the highly nutritious mushroom as a supplement to their diet. Many species that are deadly to man are consumed by deer.
Farm Crops:
Clover, alfalfa, corn, winter wheat, oats, soybeans, peas, sweat potatoes, and apples are only a few of the crops consumed by the deer. These crops are very important to the deer after all acorns are eaten. These may be the only food available to them when winter sets in."
Did you bother to read all this? :D
yes, after i read the jeering smiley. :D :p
No question, amuse?
Oh well, to answer the question above, yes, kilted exile, I read the whole message - well done on your extensive research! :)
To the person below me: do you have allergies, and, if so, to what?
Hmmmmm....I have an allergy to pollen. But apart from that I cant think of any.
Same question
yes, to cigarettes and dust.
is it hard for you not to give advice?
On the contrary, I have difficulty giving advice. Receiving advice does not bother me, but only if I ask. I like to think that the answer to any question and the solution to any ethical dilemma resides already in someone's intuition, which requires little advice, unless requested. Most of the time, I attempt helping friends/family/whoever finding the solution within themselves, as cliché as it sounds.
To the person below me: same question.
(Thank you Kilted exile - I will use this knowledge to build a deer unfriendly garden of daffodils.)
It is hard, but I try to keep my mouth shut unless asked. "Hush my mouth and I will give you sugar" my grandmother says.
Do you talk out loud to people in movies or books trying to change their course of action?
Not really, except when watching Jeopardy, which I try to watch regularly, but seldom find the time. Otherwise, I will often verbalize things about characters - "that Dorian Gray - what an odd, young man."
To the person below me: what kind of coffee and/or tea do you most enjoy?
dandilion tea would likely have to be my favorite, but I find it hard to come by.
same question to the person below me.
Any fair trade coffee. No slave labour, same amount of caffeine.
Why do you write?
I like to put down the kinds of things that I would like to read. I have a huge imagination and to put it down on paper is a huge release!
Same question!
to have something to read in the future that can ermind me of past thoughts.
what sort of car, if any, do you drive?
