Thanks Piglet and Virgil. I had to vent a little. I must at all costs avoid boiler overload. The results of that aren't very pretty... I'm going nowhere unless I'm asked to leave, and then I'll tip me 'at, say I've 'ad a jolly time 'ere, and exit stage right with no rancor. One of the first things I learned in life is "Always find out who the boss is." That way, you do what is within the guidelines, and you have less trouble. And in the end, there can only be one final say. Learn that lesson and you learn life pretty well. ;)

Hello!

My name is Elly, I'm a full-time event planner at GATech and attend school full-time at Georgia State University where I am working on my second degree in Literary Studies. The plan is to continue on into a Master's in Japanese Literature and a PhD in Comparative Literature. I'll be in school forever and I'll love every second of it.

My favourite books are widespread. I love post-modern Japanese literature but I'm not too fond over the classics. I'm mostly interested in the rapid change of literature around the world post-WWII. My favourite authors are most likely Haruki Murakami and David Foster Wallace. There are millions of authors I could list and I love them all the same.

Apart from reading I absolutely love spending time with my pets. I have 3 cats and soon to add a dog into the picture (a Silken Windhound named Love). I live in the city and have a total weakness for the park, water, and beer festivals (I absolutely go crazy for beer festivals in the park with free water). I also love to ride my bike everywhere...between my boyfriend and I we have four bicycles. I'm actually getting rid of my car this month...it costs me a fortune and I don't even use it!

Ah, and last but not least... I found this site while bored at work and researching Freud.

Oh! Have you read Infinite Jest? It's the only David Foster Wallace book I've read but it made quite an impression. I both loved and hated that book, loved the writing style and the humour and the realism and honesty but I hated the complete lack of an ending.

Yes I have, I love that book! A lot of his work is like this but he mostly does shorts. The trick is, though, that the ending of Infinite Jest is actually the beginning. :)

i like to read (found out last year that i love ancient history, and fantasy), do stuff on the computer (anything from typing a lab report to web page design to playing online games) and do athletics (bicycling, weight lifting, wrestling)

I know, I had read that somewhere and I did reread the beginning but while we know what becomes of Hal, how did he get that way? Are we to assume it was drug use or did he have some kind of breakdown? And who was that person in the apartment waiting for his dealer? And most importantly...what happened to Don Gately? I started a thread about it on the general board but no one seemed to be able to answer my questions...if you have the answers, check it out...please! I'm desperate for some insight. ;)
