Introduce Yourself here and say Hi.

I already have introduced myself in a different thread, but not really formally, as in, not written about my interests.

reading is a hobby that I have pursued (off and on though), I am a very slow reader. I usually take a lot of time finishing a book. I particularly like reading novels written by authors of Indian origin. Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth if one of the books that I enjoyed reading, these authors have Indian characters and often I can relate to some character of the book. I have a small collections of books (some gifted by my brother), most of them are by Indian authors.

Besides that, I am a commerce graduate, but at the end of my graduation I was saturated with all the money matters that I just didnt want to continue with that, so entered into the world of computers and did my postgraduation in computers. I have changed two prefessions, earlier I was into Content Writing, where I had to read articles from books, magazines, newspapers and prepare short summary for people to read on the Internet, then I shifted into computers, now I have to test softwares. Being destructive is my motto these days (it helps in my profession)

You must be wondering what a techie is dong in a literary society like this one. But the truth is that I do like reading books.

I am into sports also, pursuing some game keeps me alive.

I was into athletics, but it was long back...I ran enough miles and then jumped into the pool so the latest sport that I pursue is swimming.

I love reading, I really love it.

I'm happy to register in this forum, 'cause it's so amazing to learn what people all over the world read, to find someone in another corner of the world with the same interests and to exchange opinions, give advice, raceive advice, express your feelings and emotions.

I have a problem with reading. Sometimes I don't remember whether I've read a particular book or no. I mean you ask me "Did you rid this or that?" and I tell you "I don't remember". Or I remember that I read it once, but Ii don't remember what the book was about or what was the ending... IMPRESSIONS stay in my memory. I'm sad about this teat of mine, sometimes I think "What's the reason to read, if I don't remember anything...." I don't know how to fix this problem... Nevertheless, I feel that reading enriches my personality and makes me know the world around me. I love people and reading makes me sure that all people are worth to be loved.

I hope to find driends here.

And I hope you'll advise me a couple of good books to read ;)

Hi harmonica, welcome to the forum! You are right that it's lovely to be on the forum so you could meet lots of interesting people.

I think that you forget about books, probaly because you have read too many of them?? It can be a reason...I myself forgets even character's names from books.

For book suggestions, you can look at General Literature threads, there are a few suggestion threads there, you might want to look at. Enjoy your stay in the forum!

Literaturerocks--Always good to welcome a fellow Dante fan. The Divina Commedia is indeed a very cool work :cool: (especially cool--downright frozen--when you get down to that last circle of the inferno ;)). It's one you'll probably relish coming back to many times over in the course of your life.

Madhuri--Always good to see someone taking an interest in literature as something outside their field. There are actually a good number of "techies" who enjoy discussing lit here, so you should fit right in.

Harmonica--Everyone who reads a lot forgets some things. One thing you might like doing is keeping a "book journal" where you jot down a few main characters, highlights of the plot, and a few favorite quotes after you read a book (I knew someone who even had a rating system of one to four stars for the books they read to remember if the book was worth recommending). If you keep it on computer you'll be able to keep it alphabatized and that way you'll always be able to go back and refresh your memory about the books you've already read.

I am happy to have arrived in a commuinty where so many intelligent, and seemingly sensitive, members exist. I am a poet and a school teacher. I love all genres of writing. Currently, I am reading Of Human Bondage by Somerset Maugham. I write everday and have had a little success at being published. (Mostly poetry, but a couple of flash pieces, as well) I reside in the forested region of the Endless mountains and take their mysteries as my muse. I look forward to an exchange of ideas and thoughts.

Hello all,

I am new to the forum and just reading some of the posts, I am happily surprised by how well read everyone is. I've never had the oppertunity to talk to people who are interested in the books I absolutely love. By far Thomas Hardy is my favourite author.

Other than reading literature, I love studying history, politics, and philosophy.

Overall, I'm really glad I found this site, because I can now read opinions of others on the books that I have read also, which was extremely difficult before.

Hey Black Rose, welcome to the forum. I read Thomas Hardy's A Mayor Of Casterbridge a year ago and really liked it a lot but unfortunately never got oppertunity to read any other work by him. Now, you have reminded me of him, I guess that I will try his works someday.

Oh, interesting, I also like to study History and have a slight interest in politics but never discuss politics in the forum, as it is not allowed. Politics remind me of a Urdu Proverb:
