Ahhhh... nothing better than an iced down 8 oz Coca Cola on a hot day! Haven't had one in ages, but it takes me back to my high school years :)

GX or XO derailleur?
im not that much of a techie tailor to get into derailleur models but, my browser ai is telling me gx is the lesser expense, and for sure im about saving money, so gx it is. unless someones gifting me a bike, then xo it is!
i love nostalgia. I wonder if maybe there could be some special upcoming occasion where an ice cold coke fit really nicely.
pepsi cola vs ginger ale (including the cranberry ginger ale, which i really like, that you can get at Christmastime)
Ginger Ale... have never tried the cranberry version... Speaking of cranberries: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxrLVldZtmg
Cranberry sauce or Cranberry jelly ?
maybe you'll give it a shot this year---i'll see if I can remember to remind you.
heyyy---are you allowed to like a song called "zombie?" the next thing you know you'll be watching a movie with them in it!
ive never had cranberry jelly but that sounds better. cranberry sauce is pretty iffy---even my runaway goose and the deer don't like it! now, if we're talking cranberry juice, that one wins hands down.
diet coke vs any orange (Sunkist, fanta, crush, etc).
I'll have a look see for the CranGin Ale :)
Zombies in song is my limit I'm afraid including White Zombie of coarse (sic).
Sodas not my thing any more, though I will try the CranGin Ale just for the experience. In the past diet anything was anathema... I did go through a Fresca phase when I was younger however, but orange sodas were ok.... they tasted like, victory: https://www.songfacts.com/facts/rem/orange-crush
"Soft kitty" or "Baby shark" ?
well that makes me look all the more forward to Christmastime!
I remember fresca!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDFCL5Oiqk0
I remember that song. I haven't heard it in a long time and I enjoyed listening again.
also, for awhile the Denver broncos defense in the late 70s/early 80s were known as the "orange crush." I haven't thought of that in a long time.
for sure "soft kitty." I really enjoyed the early seasons of big bang theory and all the ways the song found its way into the show.
this one might be a foregone conclusion based on your earlier statement:
diet coke vs sprite.
Yes, I remember the old Denver team's rep :)
sprite
Jim Bowie or David Bowie ?
that's a toughie tailor,
I found this on Wikipedia:
"Rock star David Bowie, who was born David Robert Jones, adopted the folk legend's surname. Jones changed his last name in the 1960s because he feared confusion with Davy Jones, a member of the already famous The Monkees. He chose the Bowie eponym because he admired James Bowie and the Bowie knife, although his pronunciation uses the BOH-ee (/ˈboʊi/) variant."
I cant remember if you have seen Deadpool
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cljz4pRPSbg
i love music, but i also appreciate lives of consequence---lets go with jim as regards the latter.
cream soda vs 7up.
DP... Thankfully no... there's a limit to my blue speech input/output these past many years.
Cream Soda :)
Movies: Seven Days in May or Shooter ?
that's true, lots of bad language in those movies. youd maybe want to find the tv versions.
coincidence, or more YouTube spying on our litnet conversations...
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/C9vXe...?feature=share
I haven't seen seven days... but I do like old movies and the plot sounds good. I have seen shooter and remember liking it, and I like mark Wahlberg too, so we'll go with that one.
squirt/fresca vs rootbeer
Odd video... great song by DB :)
Rootbeer... makes a better float... been a while :)
Animal Farm or Charlotte's Web ?
more of your average citizen I would think as opposed to superman.
yes I haven't thought of a rootbeer float in a long time.
hmm, that's another toughie. I liked them both, the question then becomes one of impact on hugely meaningful topics. id say slight lean towards charlotte, particularly if read as an adult, or with an adult.
cherry coke vs mountain dew.
lol... some choice: cherry coke just isn't the same as the "Roy Rogers" drink I grew up with as a child... and mountain dew is so d...ew... I "do" recall drinking a dew once just to get the sleepiness out of my system, not being a coffee/tea guy these last 20-years. Worked prolly more as a placebo in my humble estimation... go with dew anyway as a one-off medicinal aid.
Shelley's Frankenstein or 1922's Nosferatu ?
im a big fan of Frankenstein and Dracula so that's a toughie in general. in this particular case though, although I suspect nosferatuwas considered groundbreaking at its time, its a tough row to hoe for those early oldies to beat anything that came later. Frankenstein it is.
my favorite though is probably abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein.
wild cherry pepsi vs dr pepper.
well I hope if we get you some cranberry ginger ale at Christmastime tailor that you don't fall off the coffee/tea/soda pop wagon.
Never tried WCP nor remember it in the wild; vaguely remember the taste of a cold DP upon my tongue (not unpleasant)... go with dr pepper.
Keeping my eyes open for some CGA :)
Enya: Caribbean Blue https://www.google.com/search?q=enya...4E_wwtQ9k,st:0
or Eiffel 65's Blue (Da Ba Dee)... https://www.google.com/search?q=Eiff...BA5Wx9T7U,st:0 ?
i probably have had it before but lately sometimes a two liter bottle comes along free with the frozen pizzas I buy for football season. I like it quite a bit.
next time im in dollar general tailor i'll ask when they suspect the cranberry ginger ale will come in.
im a fan of enya's music so im already predisposed in that direction---I hadn't heard Eiffel 65's song before, kinda interesting but enya it is.
into the quarter final round:
coca cola vs anything orange.
seems like a no-brainer given what you've written before but the formalities must be observed.
Enya :)
coca cola
Brit rock: Beatles or Led Zeppelin ?
I was just a kid when the beatles broke up and was mostly oblivious to the significance of that, or their music, but me and my peers caught on and caught up very quickly when the "red" and "blue" albums came out. beatles for sure. how about you?
sprite vs ginger ale.
I lean towards LZ with Page's virtuoso guitar. I was a minor fan of the Beatles and remember their rise to power which thankfully served as a buffer against the Beach Boys (not a fan beyond "Good Vibrations").
sprite vs ginger ale? - Tough one... I'd choose ginger ale by a nose.
Genres: Comedy or Horror ?
maybe we'll do a large 64 entry tournament for bands somewhere down the road...
that's surprisingly a toughie. there is so much variety in horrror that some is enjoyable, some is nooooo way! some comedy is fantastic, some is meh. I think the safer bet is comedy. the higher peeks belong to comedy too---hard to top animal house, caddy shack and others like that.
cream soda vs mountain dew
cream soda
onion rings or fries ?
I love onion rings but its hard to beat French fries with ketchup and sometimes mustard and sometimes Heinz 57.
dr pepper (I just had some) vs root beer.
root beer
Planetarium or museum ?
leftover from last week:
https://x.com/SpillTheMemes/status/1...891589/photo/1
oh no, you might have asked that one before and now I have to be internally consistent!
I like them both, and depending on the kind of museum, I might pick that one, but otherwise the planetarium is the safer bet.
on to the first semi final: coke vs cream soda
Lol !
oops! Thought the thought was familiar but ran with it anyway... sorry :(
Under ideal circumstances: circa 1971... coca cola
Not being a warm day: Chocolate candy bar or coca cola ?
that's a fun one and pretty independent of weather. though im a big fan of the carbonation, my choices would go like this:
small can/bottle of coke > a small candy bar
extra large candy bar > a small can/bottle of coke
two liter bottle > extra large candy bar
contest a little tighter if the candy bar in question is a peanut butter cup.
in the second semi final:
root beer vs ginger ale
Lol... got it.
root beer... same reason as before
Writers: Charles Dickens or Victor Hugo ?
I was thinking of you yesterday tailor when I went shopping. I bought some drink mix and they had cranberry ginger ale. I was tempted, but since it wouldn't have the bubbles, it was easy enough to wait another couple of months.
ive only read hunchback from hugo but bunches of stuff from dickens, plus an actual biography about him---so dickens it is.
and in the consolation match: cream soda vs ginger ale
Almost too close to call...
...
...
... cream soda
Writers: J. R. R. Tolkien or J. K. Rowling ?
that's a fun one. subjectively I guess it comes down to which I liked better, lord of the rings or harry potter and then there is sorta the movie follow-ups to both and who did I have a bigger crush on, hermione, Arwen, or eowyn…
ack!
slight edge to Tolkien.
sometimes one likes to root (no pun intended) for the underdogs:
cold root beer on a hot summer day after some hard work outdoors vs warm semi-flat coke in the winter after eating too much at Christmas dinner.
laughs...
or just plain root beer vs coke
Terrible choice to make... both make mighty fine bases for floats... but a maraschino cherry and grenadine syrup goes best with coca cola, so coca cola it is :)
First Top Gun movie or the sequel 36-years later with the same protagonist ?
ah, I didn't think it was going to be a toughie...coca cola by a bubble!
I remember liking top gun but I loved top gun:maverick. one of the things that made the sequel better was the very successful tie-in to the original. not to mention Jennifer Connelly.
somewhere tailor I have a bracket sheet drawn up for a 32 entry fruit tournament. hang in there with me while I hunt it up...
didn't find it, made a new one, and herrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre we go!
apple vs pomegranate
Interesting choice... love both, both make fine juices... but apples are more varied and make fine pies,,, pom pies??? googling... yep: https://www.food.com/recipe/fresh-po...ate-pie-106474
Going with apple (less seeds).
Super Bowl or World Series or ilk ?
on the topic of seeds, if Persephone ate an apple instead of a pomegranate, we might have less winter!
I loved the super bowl and the world series when I was a kid, but at some point I started to fall away from watching baseball. I still love the game but I don't follow it as closely as football, so the super bowl it is. I think most of the rest of the country probably thinks that way too and a solid argument could be made that football has supplanted baseball as "America's national pastime."
I would however enjoy a trip to the little league world series. Williamsport, pa, isn't too far away from me.
apricot vs banana
I eat bananas nearly every day... so apricots it is :)
badminton or pickleball ?
the poor banana, ironically defeated by its own mundanity.
I love the idea of pickleball as a way to get otherwise non-active people, active, and in that regard, its great, but as a sport, badminton is awesome. I used to teach it and loved it. badminton wins the day.
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/VXoQYJAau5I
bonus treat hearkening back to top gun (don't remember if I have shared this before, maybe...)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3rQ3328Tok
persimmons vs papaya
Wow... yeah, badminton and ping pong can be really radical.
Lololol... shared :)
Persimmons have a persnickety flavor about them, a certain je ne sais quoi... going with papaya
Ping pong or racquet ball ?
ive since watched owlkitty a few more times and laugh out loud each time.
my parents got me a ping-pong table when I was kid. they were great like that and I regret not making use of it to the extent I could have. I also taught racquetball, played recreationally and liked that even more than badminton. racquetball it is.
raspberry vs honeydew (not the list, but the food).
I played racquetball for a short time when I had a gym membership anciently... wish I'd kept it up.
mmmm... very recently had a cranberry/raspberry blend drink from a major brand that was soooo deliciously smooth as a combination... prolly not great for my A1C, but delicious... raspberry it is :)
rowing or sailing ?
