White light, prism, spectrum ?

I thought of that too, but the spectrum of white light does not consists of 7 distinct colors.

Quite right. As Wiff says, Aimus "True, but nominally or traditionally it does." The white light passes into a prism, breaks into the seven colors of the spectrum which if they pass though a second prism, return to white light again. There may be more colors there, due to blending of colors, but seven: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet are the traditional colors.
