Well, considering that I don't even live there(and have never even been to the U.S!), I have to say no.I'm an Aussie and always will be, but I do LOVE to travel!:)

Would you go on an undersea adventure to a dark abyss(potentially dangerous because you are all alone), in order to discover a hidden lost city?Meaning:Your colleagues warn you not to go, and are not pleased with you(they believe you will find nothing and waste time, but you have received some secret information from a stranger which leads you-only- to believe otherwise)as a result, but would you ignore them and go anyway?You risk your reputation-but do you conform or follow your own lead?

Note:If you decide to go you have all the equipment, but it is in solitude.

I think I'd go, but only if I am sure I want to do that, I wouldn't care for my reputation or anything as long as my gut says I'll be OK then I'd go...

Yes, I wouldn't have a choice would I? But I have done that in the past, every family has one of those. My cousin used to pinch like nobody's business.
