I prefer the idea of the "art film" before the days of "Indies," but sure, anything's better than Whoreywood.

Ken Burns?
It depends on the film. Of course many excellent directors in Hollywood--e.g. Spielberg, Scorsese, Nolan, Jones, Tarantino, and Anderson--have produced amazing films. So, one doesn't have to pretentiously hold their nose to Hollywood to find great films.
Is Mulholland Drive a masterpiece?
Depending on taste, it certainly can be. Or not. Perception is everything.
Should synchronized swimming be an Olympic sport?
No, it should just fall under the general category of comedy.
Ken Burns films?
I love synchronized swimming! and I had a crush in grad school on a classmate who competed in the 96 Olympics in it...
the "problem" with aesthetic sports is some folks don't like the way winners are determined, subjective judgment as opposed to objective scores.
ive only ever seen his "baseball" work and enjoyed that. I appreciate the effort it takes to create a documentary like that, so I say aye, at least in that regard.
Quentin tarantino films?
somehow posted twice...
so another opportunity to say "yay synchronized swimming!"

The increasing practice of revisionist history in Western Society?
Aye where it means skepticism about earlier scholarship, nay where it means mindless PC.
Mixing Guinness and champagne?
Nay, but I'm willing to try it.
(Pompey, I suppose I was mainly referring to mindless PC, not actual, "jeez, we had that history completely wrong").
West Coast of US or North East Coast of US, if you had to make that choice?
All good history should be revisionist, as historians should constantly re-examine and re-evaluate their own methods and those of earlier historians. Also, historians' unjust and irrational ignoring, disparagement, or exclusion of marginalized people--e.g. women, Gays, and ethnic minorities--needs to be redressed to produce more accurate histories.
The current explosion of super-hero movies and TV shows?
I just mean tailoring history to serve a modern political or social agenda, because history, especially revisionism in a technical sense, is supposed to do the opposite of that. It's supposed to be skeptical, not duplicitous.
Tough choice. I grew up in the NE and don't think I could ever quite "think" West Coast." My wife and I currently snowbird between New England and the Far East, which has been working out, but we are probably going to move the American end to the Southwest. So neither? Or if I really had to choose, probably home.

Sure, it's probably more important to Mick and crew than the audience. But i do love the Stones.
The end of Stadium Rock Bands as we use to know it? (arguably still around, but i disagree)
Only Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Metallica, and maybe Muse could pack a stadium today, and Coldplay is hardly rock. Radiohead stopped being rock awhile ago. Rock just isn't the main popular or youth music anymore; hip-hop is...no matter how much that rankles the "old farts"
There are excellent rock bands left--e.g. Arctic Monkeys and Grizzly Bear--but they can't touch the popularity of Drake or Lil Wayne

john wayne cowboy movies or john wayne soldier movies?
His westerns, although both can be fun.
Silent movies?
aye, in a very small dose. maybe a few a year. I took a music and the film class in college and one of the things we had to do was put a musical score to a silent movie. if I remember rightly I chose some scene from a Charlie chaplin movie where some woman was beating on him with her umbrella.
and oh heck, I asked a this or that question in the aye or nay thread!

Eric Cartman
Aye, I suppose cuz he's the closest thing to our generation's archie bunker
Woodstock the rock festival?
No to each one. The first was too hippie-ish and muddy, the second was too sweltering and dude-bro-ish.
