Two quick random thoughts:
I still feel convinced that nothing uglier exists than immodesty.
If one thinks he/she knows everything, he/she has the potential to learn nothing.
"why do birds si-ing so gay, and love(deedudum)the break of day...
why does the rain fall from up above, why do fools fall in love, why do they fall in lo-ove..."

Sounds better that way. :)Quote:

"The decline and fall of the roman empire" makes a great bookend!!!
soap and soup are only one letter apart, but if you mix the two, you've got bad news.
It's raining hard and it's lovely but a bit scary at the same time...
Still so great... so fresh... I wish I wasnt feeling this slight uneasiness and I could enjoy it to the maximum.
Maybe not so random a thought, given the circumstances, but here it is:
My chum in Bath, having finally accounted for all his London friends and family, sent me an e-mail, and in it he said, "I wish you were here now, strange as that sounds." I knew exactly what he meant because I wanted to be there. I wanted to be there for my friends, to give hugs, stay up late, maybe get drunk, and talk all night, until we had pushed the shadows way into the corners and could think and act and feel like ourselves again, until we felt the crisis pass.
In fact, I wish I was there right now.

I'm wondering...who invented pop corn? I mean, who found out that those corn dots popped into something soft and white and nice to eat? Mah...
The history of Popcorn --> http://whatscookingamerica.net/Histo...ornHistory.htm
Uh...interesting, thanks.
Btw, do you guys make popcorn just by putting the seeds in a covered pan with olive oil (I guess other kind of oil might work)? or do the microwave thingy?
I saw a TV programme about Umberto Eco :D He spoke Italian and they were translating it into German so I understood less than little :D His apartment looked like British Library - books EVERYWHERE!!! :goof:
Unnnnnnnnnnhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
It occurred to me that a random thought might not just be random at all. What makes it random? And how does one decide which thought to share? I have several thoughts in my mind. This is one of them. Another one involves the music I listen to, and so on and on and on.
The mind is brilliant! :D
deja vu anyone?
anyways... yeah yeah yeah we all know thoughts happen for reasons and blah blah blah our subconcious and yawn yawn yawn nothing comes from nowhere and blink blink blink is anything truly random....
ayup.
some minds are brilliant. I wouldn't quite make the generalization that the mind is brilliant... especially after meeting my (now ex)coworkers at walmart.
:- )
anyways, read the whole thread bud, all 140 pages of it and i think that exact thought has been stated at least twice already. :- )
Welcome to the forum, by the way, and don't let any biting remarks or mean-seeming comments detur you from the good things of this forum.
Actually, the whole random thought blurb of mine was rhetorical. It was to illustrate the point that the mind is brilliant. Even your former co-workers have brilliant minds, because for me, the mind is a brilliant tool. But by being a tool, it means you have to learn how to use it. Some are more adept at it, exploring the depths of the mind. While other have more difficulty with it, not quite grasping the brilliance they have. And few fully grasp the brilliance of the mind.
And I don't doubt the thought has been stated more than once, it is after all, a random thought. ;)
Thanks for the welcome, oh cheerful one. ;)
Our brains are all different. Some are smarter than others - not just because they learned how to use this tool better - but because they were born with a better tool. I work at a developmental center for the mentally disabled. I see this not just at work, but everywhere I go. Some people just don't have the capacity of other people. -And I'm not talking just about people with mental retardation. There are whole ranges of intelligence. While it is possible to learn how to use your tool better and improve upon yourself, and increase your capacity, Igor's not gonna become an evil genius. We were only created equally in a moral sense. We were not created equally in a physical or mental sense.
I always but a high regard on Howard Gardner's theory of seven intelligences:Quote:

6. Interpersonal intelligence (as in a salesman or teacher);
7. Intrapersonal intelligence (exhibited by individuals with accurate views of themselves).
But don't you see the brilliance of the brain itself? Its inner workings, sure some minds are smarter then others, but they are all brilliant in their function.Quote:

Yeah yeah, i see the brain has a genius design, how its a remarkable tool...-a tool that can break but what tool can't - but to say that the brain in general is genius gives off the wrong impression, i think.
I also think there are different kinds of brain... like I learn languages easily but I can barely add or multiply numbers while some people dont really have the skill for languages for example but are living calculators... it's a question of attitudes and even of tastes, of course you can always learn something that is not the strongest point of your brain, but you dont have a talent for it... Some people are skilled in many fields, for example both scientific and humanistic, and that's good for them...
*shrug* different strokes for different folks.
there are definitions to the words: idiot, moron, etc etc and some people fit them (not that they should be called unkind names, but it should be widely noted that some people are morons.)
alright: new random thought.
It feels so good to be bad.
Why is giving the wrong advice so much more fun than giving the right advice? hmmmm evil tastes so good.
you are pure evil, fool, but you always say what you thinking and it makes me laugh.
thanks Shortysweetp, i hope i make someone laugh... i usually write for my own sociopathic amusement.
By the way, every time I see your name i wanna sing, "Oh sweet pea come on and dance with me won't ya won't ya won't ya come and dance with meeeeeeee"
lol what is that from? i dont think i have ever heard that
its a song from the 60s
I went to a dance just the other night, met a girl there who was out of sight, but every guy there was thinking like me. you had to stand in line to get a dance with sweat pea. Oh Sweat Pea, won't you dance with me won't you won't won't you dance with meeeeeeee?
Oh Sweat Pea, come on and be my girl come on come on come on and be my giiiiiiiiirl.... or something like that.
Do you ever feel like you can't stand your best friend? Well I have this friend, she's the one I go out most often with, but more and more often I feel it's just cos we have noone else as other friends we have in common have less time to meet us...and we are almost the only ones we know who dont have a boyfriend etc... And sometimes it feels it's the only reason why we stick together cos we disagree on so many things...we have different tastes, different viewpoints on many things... And she keeps judging and complaining, about every little thing (her mum is the same, she has a polemic for everything) and since her family is very strict, my behaviours are seen as a libertine's... My choices are always weird to her, when I was in a long-distance relationship she kept telling me to quit it cos it'd have no future, and the whole thing was hard enough for me, the support of friends would have been nice... I mean, I never feel accepted... Ok sometimes it's ok, we have a good time as friends, but then she just starts complaining about something in general...I hate the world 'absurd' cos she used to refer to such a wide range of things and facts... Last night she saw my desktop picture and had to make a weird comment about it, hearing it you would have thought I had some terribly immoral pic... it was just a damn pic dedicated to my damn favourite band, on my own damn laptop!
I have another friend instead, we meet less often cos she has many different friends, and a boyfriend...but we always understand each other, agree on many things, and she's always always supported me, I could always rely on her even in the relationship thing, she never even judged how crazy it all was, and she always tries to find some time for me if she can...
For tomorrow, I have an invitation from another 'friend'. She was in our group of friends at school, then found a job and with it a more interesting and varied life with different friends, and then a boyfriend which caused her to show up with me like 5 times in one year and a half... Now she seems to call me only when there's noone she can think of calling, in a way I dont mind cos that's often my destiny and anyway it's a chance to meet... but I wonder if we still have anything to tell each other, any common topic to talk about... Anyway I'll probably go, it's someone different to me...and my friend I mentioned first won't be there so I'll feel somehow more free to be totally mycrazyself...
Sorry, just felt like venting some random thoughts of these days...
No need to apologize for ranting, Koa; it sounds like quite a situation you have yourself in with your friend. Often, I have found, spending too much time with anyone, including boyfriends/girlfriends, you grow tired of each other, annoyed and short-tempered. Spending much time with someone very critical and judgmental, I can certainly see why one could get irritated; I would (and have), too. Hopefully, if you do not tell your friend, maybe she will realize her faults through other means (possibly other people), or discovering that you seldom want to spend time with her.
Best of luck! ;)
My random thought of the day: I feel so reminiscent today of reading Arthur Schopenhauer, who wrote of boredom seeming one of the worst (and main) evils of the world. :p
Yeah thanks mono... I agree, I often think I'd never be able to handle a boyfriend if I had to see him everyday as most couples seem to die if they don't, that was a good side of the long-distance stuff, though it was too much on the opposite extreme.
So it's sometimes a mess to be only with that one friend, we sometimes look at each other and know that we are going out together only cos really there's noone, as we have nothing to tell each other. In a way it's nice to get to know people so well, but when they get so bitter or when I feel limited because of her, it's a mess... We even learnt not to talk of politics cos we're likely to end up arguing...
Anyway, today I had a nice day with the third friend I mentioned there.
And here goes my random thought: I like to go to the swimming pool. I hate to sunbathe but it's lovely to go in the water and just stay there... I used to love it as a kid too, but then in my darkest phase I even stopped liking the swimming pool cos of the sun it involved, and I didnt even enjoy the water...last summer I never even went once. But this year I like it again :D Me fish :D
(note: here in the summer it's the most common thing to try and go to a swimming pool as often as possible, cos we have no sea right here but the heat can get unbearable).
Random thought number 2: the forum appears to have been rather empty today...
In 3 weeks time I will be a fully qualified Environmental Engineering Technologist. I will actually have to work for a living, instead of this lazy student malarkey. New plan: I have 3 weeks to win the lottery.
