Yes - I LOVE camping solo - especially in state parks. Sometimes the trees are singing with bees, and the deer just behave as if you're another deer!
Bernie or Bernie?
Bernie.
Rome or London (for holiday)?
Never been to Rome but my GOD I've seen pictures - so touted by everyone I know - they say the history makes their teeth chatter - and you eat ridiculously delicious food at communal tables (I did that once at an Italian restaurant in California - unforgettable) - anyway, Rome.
What's the most astonish insect you've ever beheld? (Me: potato bug)
hmmm... love mantids and butterflies, but the most astonished I've been over an insect (or rather many thousands or more) was a swarm of ladybugs down in our lower pasture a number of years ago when I and one of my grandsons were exploring (example: https://dengarden.com/gardening/Thou...dybug-Swarming ). We once found two black scorpions hiding in a hillside amongst the loose shale also... but they're not really insects.
Same question ?
My most astonishing insect? Saw a wasp an inch and a half long (ran far and fast from that flying bass guitar, let me tell ya!!)
When dining out: cozy and to yourselves? or in an open space?

how would you describe the town you live in?
Home: In the foothills of the Sierras a rural gold country town known for vegetable growing during the California Gold Rush... Currently many Christmas Tree farms, and one property owner has 3-Buffalo grazing within 2-miles/3-km of home... Canada geese year-round... Annual snow; sometimes hot summers leading to drought and Pine Tree die-offs from beetle bugs.

A city that is losing itself in a strive for power between different local barons, yet aspires to be capital to an entire continent. The result is a, by times, administrative nightmare. Despite all that, daily life is mostly fabulous. The city is a patchwork of neighbourhoods and area's that each offer their own atmosphere: from lively neighbourhoods filled with pubs and terraces in the summer to more elegant areas with more reserved restaurants, from residential areas with the odd local bistro offering unexpected high standard food to business areas that thrive on activity in the day time, yet lie desolate at night. Due to it being home to several international organisations, the population has also turned into a melting pot: there are pubs where, at the end of an office day, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish... are all spoken at the same time.
It was called a "hell hole" not that long ago... But looking at the man who called it that, we tend to not be bothered.

How do you define happiness?
Happiness is family with the knowledge that we can be together into the eternities.
Happiness is serving others with no thought of reward.
Happiness is listening to Haydn while gazing out a window as a white breasted
nuthatch flirts with his reflection time after time after time - worrying a juvenile
black cat as an older cat indifferently naps upon a cushion fashioned with a print
of a Forest Chapel on it... looking upon pines and oaks and fig trees and
cedars and bonsai as Painted Ladies pass through the yard as singles and couples
and threes; all the whilst contemplating poetry on this lazy light-breezy May day
(Note: after all this time he's still flirting (lol) )

happyness is music when silence is intrusive.
what is the funniest book you have ever read?
"happyness is music when silence is intrusive.": (profound)
Gary Larson's The Far Side series of books. I googled for some funny books to see if I'd read any of the selections and came up empty... https://www.rd.com/culture/funniest-books-of-all-time/ ... some look promising.
I read "Alien" before the movie came out and it terrified me into sleeping with the lights on for some time (oh, and thanx a lot Sherry for coaxing me into watching the movie... still gives me the creeps)................................ what book has affected you strongly in some way after reading it ?
The book that affected me strongly after reading it is 'The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society' by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows.
It made me realize how much we take for granted the liberties and luxuries that we have, while in the war days they were starved of basic comforts. Sadly though, there are many parts of the world that are experiencing this discomfort even now.

I thought the best thing about the first one was the introduction to the new universe so to speak but one criticism I had (I have a few) is that it felt too far from the harry potter world. that was one of the strengths of the last movie. although im not so sure I like jude law as a young Dumbledore.

You're allowed to terraform one planet in our solar system (other than Earth) and live there... which planet would it be ?
dark muse have you seen the abbott and Costello schtick about mustard on the hot dog?
secluded for sure. no other people or signs of civilization. mountainous geography, and either at some height with a grand view, or in some valley alongside a lake or quiet river. either way such that it takes some effort of hiking to get there and the food and the rest is a sort of reward. height of summer and with the temperature for t-shirt and shorts.
simple sandwiches like peanut butter and jelly, or cheese. if pbj then some extra cheese on the side. normally id say watermelon but too difficult to keep cold over the distance I imagine, so lets go maybe with some oranges or peaches. grape juice would be a treat to drink, but odd as it sounds, I love tomato juice, so maybe that. if that's too weird for my picnic date, then we could each have our favorite snapples.
which books, if any, have you started but not finished and why not?
oh heck tailor, you snuck in there while I was thinking and typing...
well lets see, how does terraforming deal with the heat or cold and whacky differences in gravity on all the other planets?
