Koalas aren't bears, it's a misnomer, but I'd pick them because they sit round getting stoned all day on eucalyptus leaves and yet, far from being shunned or castigated by the prim and proper, their stuffed effigies are given to tiny children wot cuddle with them in their littew beds.
Asparagus or curry? Note that these rank one and two, respectively, in the list of foods wot make your pee reek loyk the loo on a fishing trawler two months out at sea.
-
-
Baked potato with sour cream.
Organic, non-GMO tomato or cloned stegosaurus?
-
the first.
Godfather 1 or 2?
-
Of course Godfather 1
Reading the Instruction manual or just figuring it out on your own?
-
Watching the instructional video on YouTube.
Margarine or I Can't Believe It's Not Butter?
-
from a cost perspective, gotta go with the former, from a taste perspective, maybe a slight lean towards the latter...healthwise, I cant say.
im a vegetarian but---mustard or ketchup on a hot dog?
-
I have to go with ketchup on this one. I'm not morally opposed to mustard, and in my NY deli lovin' family it's generally ketchup, mustard, relish, onions and an unsuspecting passerby, but ketchup has long been my mainstay.
Use an Iroquois burial ground to dump dry cleaning chemicals or set fire to Sequoia National Park?
-
Neither, both are atrocious!
Jump off the Empire State Building or shoot yourself?
-
Shoot yourself with a waster pistol (that blast of tepid water hurts a bit but really makes ya appreciate the beauty of life)
Don Johnson or Phillip michael thomas in the old miami vice series? (tongue in cheek here)
-
Tony, I'm glad for your sake that was tongue in cheek. Don't mess with my Miami Vice.
New cell phone or an hour of unbridled fun online with Mistress Spanky Bottoms.
-
I don't have a cell phone (and don't want one), and my internet connection is too slow for mistress spanky bottoms---hah! smiles...
how you are feeling right now: a piece of classic literature, or a contemporary best seller?
-
Classic Literature: "The Martian Chronicles"/Ray Bradbury as opposed to "The Martian"/somebody(just kidding) Weir
Plain-Jane flavor of ice cream (vanilla/straw/choc) or something more exotic ?
-
yayy someone else joined in! I thought maybe I hadn't taken a shower, or was what, chopped liver or something!
ive got the martian chronicles tailor---want some company in your reading?
I don't eat much ice cream, its a part of the vegetarian scene for me, but I do like it all and if someone put a bowl of any of it in front of me, id eat it, but right this moment---something exotic sounds fun. I remember an old baskins and robbins flavor called peppermint fudge ribbon...but cookie dough ice cream sounds good, or moose tracks, or some other whacky ben and jerry's flavor...
as a series: twilight, harry potter or hunger games?
-
Hello,
Hunger games.
I need to practice some dietary restraint. I had ice cream today because the stand was closing for the winter this weekend.
Martian Chronicles: love those ancient memories.
Issac Asimov or Ray Bradbury?
-
Both are good!
Agatha Christie or Rex Stout?
-
ive only got one rex stout book, "three doors to death" and ive not read it yet, but ive read bunches of hercule poirot stories and have enjoyed most of those---so i'll go with Agatha Christie.
might have asked this one before, or something close:
james bond or Sherlock holmes?
-
James Bond, 'cause I'm weary of Sherlock at the moment, and Daniel Craig as 007 is my secret identity. Oh, and Ray Bradbury, Martian Chronicles. Glad to see I'm not alone in that.
Kale juice fast or mud wrestle Gwendoline Christie?
-
i think Daniel craig is the best bond...
I had to look up gwendoline Christie and I suspect id choose the mud wrestling even if it was grape juice or tomato juice.
since i mentioned it---grape juice or tomato juice?
-
Tomato juice, as I freakin' love it and could drink it all day. Well, maybe not all day, but after struggling fecklessly against Gwendoline Christie's might and mass, I'm sure a glass or two would stand me in good stead.
And Daniel Craig is, agreed, the best Bond.
A hundred years of youth, beauty and perfect health, or forty million dollars.
-
$ 40 million USD............. a hundred years of anything would get old fast.
Tablet or smart phone ?
-
Smart phone. For a start, some models of smart phone are now damn near as big as tablets. Second, tablets, I think, are on their way out, judging by the fact that most of the new ones offer keyboards to complement them and are increasingly laptop-like. Especially since Windows 10 has touch capability, you might as well get a new laptop with touch screen features, and get a smart phone for phone sex. I mean for calling Mom. Or, possibly, phone sex with someone you call Mom.
Self-warming KY or Original Formula.
-
im partial to raspberry preserves or orange marmalade...
onions or peppers on a pizza?
-
Onions, as I love the stinky little buggers. Mind you, if I can have my druthers, it's pineapple all the way, baby.
Toaster oven or traditional pop-up toaster?
-
one of the best pizzas I ever had was topped with pineapple, spinach and feta.
hated onions when I was a kid, now I love them.
I think onions and pineapple go surprisingly well together.
tryion---ever have a pineapple and cheese sandwich? I remember being in England and having them in the pubs there.
toast (and tea) is one of the favorite things and I think other than that, a microwave suffices for everything else, so I say traditional toaster.
benny hill or monty python?
-
Oh, for the love of pineapple, Monty Python. I loved watching Benny Hill on PBS as a kid, but there simply is no comparison. Most of my mental processes and verbal gyrations can be attributed to the early Python influence. That, and women's brassiere ads.
Jergens Skin Care or Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion?
-
I liked the comic absurdity of both but I particularly enjoyed monty python's social commentary.
im a guy so not being acquainted, im going to say six of one, half dozen of the other...
a crisp autumn day and walk in the woods, or a hot summer day with a lake?
-
double post, but while im here, I think my favorite python scene is from holy grail when Arthur is interacting with the peasants in the slop and dennis goes off on a rant about power being granted by a mandate from the masses, not some farcical aquatic ceremony.
-
a crisp autumn day and walk in the woods
Fall or Spring ?
-
fall is by far my favorite time of the year, and im fortunate to live in the middle of hundreds into the thousands of acres of hilly forests.
going to a restaurant---a brand new (to you) ethnic type food place, or an old standby that you know you love.
-
New Restaurant
When reading a book do you prefer
A lot of really short chapters or a few really long chapters
-
i think I prefer them on the short-ish side. they make for great natural pausing points if you want to put the book down for a bit. yet at the same time, some of the contemporary best seller types I read seem to have willy nilly chapter breaks, for instance right in the middle of a conversation for goodness sake. its almost as if the writing is more consistent with a tv show's commercial break at a dramatic high point rather than any objective change in the topic.
salty and crunchy or sweet and chewy?
-
salty and crunchy
scrambled or over easy?
-
Scrambled
A book that is very well written but you find to have a boring story and/or uninteresting characters or a book with mediocre prose but has a compelling story line?
-
muse, that's a variation on a question I used to pose to my students. winning beautifully is best, losing ugly is worst, which is the next best---winning ugly or losing beautifully? gender differences in the answers were usually evident.
id pick mediocre prose and compelling story line.
and heck, for my question, given some recent activity, papayahed might already have the answer---do you ever go back and look at old threads, or the very beginnings of current threads, and wonder about the people who used to post, but who are no longer active?
-
Yes, and I picture them in frightening situations, assuming, as I do, that they've all been disappeared by Them. You know, the Gobblers. The ones wot come wiv a potato sack in da middle o' da noyt and knocks you over the 'ead. Such that you're never seen again--know whut I mean?
The Waitresses' "I Know What Boys Like" or Bow Wow Wow's "I Want Candy"?
-
Bow Wow Wow
What's more shocking: The fact that most people will take the extra effort to message/text, even driving or the demise of the music video?
-
ive sometimes wondered, when music videos can cost hundreds of thousands, and sometimes into the millions of dollars to produce, what the pay-off is for the artists?
tony if I take the first part of your question to mean people shouldn't be texting when they are driving in particular, and that people spend too much time texting in general---i'll go with all that one being more shocking. I actually find it disturbing.
large sold out auditorium for a concert or a small intimate coffee house/pub type show?
-
Oh, god, no-brainer: small venue. Mind you, my youth was filled with stadium shows, wouldn't trade it for the world, those memories, but it was also filled with once in a lifetime small shows, and continues to be. Don't think I'd go to an arena show at my age, or enjoy it, it is the intimate connection between audience and performer in a small venue that makes for magic. Or, possibly, beads of sweat landing on you.
Hemorrhoids that go away in three days or a cold that lasts for a week?
-
having never had the former, and knowing the latter is very tolerable, i'll go with the safe bet and say the cold.
recorded live music or studio music?
