For Mir's Birthday
Once upon a Halloween in a country far away,
A little girl was born who grew up quite the tomboy.
Still there was a hint of mischief as in any born upon that day,
When Darkness rules the Earth in reckless joy.
Any goblin or old witch never cursed our little girl,
Because she was born smack dab on Halloween.
She turned out cute as any button with hair inclined to curl,
One of the sweetest little ladies you may have ever seen.
So Mir, you took your Birthday early this season,
But you’ll find your cake is still a jack-o-lantern—
So I hope that escaping the ghouls and ghosts were not the reason
For there really is no way to stop once you begin to form a pattern.
