Speaking of the almost undeniable monopoly on cuteness held by the Japanese cartoon industry, :D here is an interesting article on the "kawaii" trend (cuteness counterculture) in Japan. (The following pages on the "Lolita" and "Gothic Lolita" looks are also worth reading. I think the Lolitas are spooky, but I totally want to start dressing like that. :D)
Hummmmm Id LOve tro dress like that too. Only not quite Id want proper long skirts so Gothic but not .
BUt A few years back I saw a documentry on the bbc about the "cute" trend in Japan and how apparntly ( no offence to anyone) The cute look especially the socks round the ankles ( that seem to have traveld at least as far as theh uk) is also a sexy look. I think also there was somthing about the increase prostition of school girls because a) the "kawaii" look works and b) they need the moneey to buy the clothes :eek:
Thats the thing I dont like about anime all the charcters look like tiny kids then they go all mushy I just find it disturbing.
Then again one of the English channels has a program calldCrush aimed at 8 year olds where they can win a nice date out for them and thier crush...that is disturbing I mean I know I started plotting how to get someone to marry me when I was three. But I didnt actually have a crush till I was 11 or 12 and thank heavens havent had another one since.
