Moby DIck from 1950 something. It was a very interesting movie with little or no excitement. It gave me some things to think about, but I found myself yawning when I shouldn't have been.
COmpletely overacted. Special effects better than I expected they would be for a 1950s show.
Pirates 3 good movie not near the quality of the first but much better than the second ill give it a 7 for humor, effects, and setting up the next movie
Shrek the third. Very charming, funny and still enjoyable third movie out in a series. That usually isn't true, I don't normally consider sequels all that great, but this movie was a solid 8.5/10 :thumbs_up

Stay with Ewan McGregor and Ryan Gosling. It was fascinating, moody, confusing and I really liked it. The only problem I had was with Ewan's wardrobe, what was with the freakishly short pants? Was it simply a poor fashion choice or do they have some deeper, symbolic meaning?
Saw Zodiac yesterday. Great detective story, perhaps a tiny bit longer than necessary, but all good nonetheless.
I give it 8,5 crisaors.
I am watching In Her Shoes (which I think is based on a book by Jennifer Weiner). This is not the first time I have seen this movie, but I really like it, even though some may consider it to be a cheesy chic flick.
My favorite scene is the one where the blind English professor gets Maggie to read him a poem in the nursing home. Maggie has a learning disability and can't read very well, and she tells him that she is a slow reader, and he tells her that he is a slow listener. She gets through her first poem and then he makes her discuss the poem the way you would in a freshman college English class and gives her a boost of confidence.
I like this movie so much (just because of that scene) that I may have posted this before.
Oh yeah, and the stepmother is perfectly despicable.
Piriates 3. Liked the twist of how to get rid of Davey Jones and free his crew at the same time. Liked the set-up for the next movie. Otherwise, too many backstabings going on. 7/10

Just watched Once Upon a Time in America (way back from 1984). Very good and straightforward movie, would give it a 10/10 if it wasn't for the uncleanness of the ending, so 9/10.
But...the ending's great. The way Deniro smiles...it's perfect!
Maybe we are talking about different endings? This movie is said to come over in 3 versions. The one ending, the alternate ending, and the Director's Cut. I have no idea which is mine. In the end, the Max Renn guy turns out to be alive and asks Noodles to shoot him but Noodles doesn't, so I didn't exactly get what happened to Max, either he jumped into the waste disposal car or I don't know why they would show the waste disposal car.

'Take the Money and Run' - Woody Allen, 1969
This movie is hilarious, to put it simply. Really quite inventive humor. Of course, it's obviously not realistic at all (it involves an incompetent bank-robber who keeps winding up in jail and escaping - only to fail at another robbery and be imprisoned anew), but, for a film made strictly for comic purposes, it seems far more creative than anything being produced at the moment. I'm also slightly in love with Janet Margolin's character; I just kind of wished she talked more...
Anyway, 8/10. Absolutely worth watching. Just under an hour and a half, and full of memorable scenes.
HiJamesian, You know I loved this movie when it first came out. I recall that I could not stop laughing. I must see it again. Recently, I realised I had taped it from a TV broadcast. I hope the tape is till good. It is, as you say, much funnier than half the stuff they come out with nowdays. Isn't there a scene were the record goes flying out of the sleeve across the room, or am I thinking of another Woody Allen film?Quote:

Was Fracture really a disappointment? I have been meaning to see it for a while, because Anthony Hopkins is my favourite actor EVER. I've been told by others that it wasn't good, but I thought maybe they just didn't get it or something. I don't think its possible for Anthony Hopkins to be a bad movie.
I also saw Bobby recently (stars A.H. again haha). I thought it was soo well done. The cast was rediculous!

I stayed up late last night and watched Hannibal Rising (and i was late for work because I overslept :( )
It wasn't as good as the first but not as bad as the second. I thought it did a pretty good job of explaining why Hannibal Lector is the way he is. Gaspard Ulliel was a good choice for the role --- the way he spoke reminded me of Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs, and he looked the way you'd think a young Anthony Hopkins might.
I give it 8/10.
Ocean's 13
So far it's the best movie I've seen in for 2007....
I saw Ocean's 11 and liked it. I might have seen Ocean 12; I forget. These films are highly entertaining.Quote:

Doesn't that movie have a scene were the inmates are planning an escape, but Allen is the only one who goes through with it....and is thusly caught in the glare of the prison lights and the other inmates mock him? Last movie I watched was Underworld...the first part..I really liked it..I'm a fan of Kate Beckinsale...and I'm watching Salem's Lot tonight..lol
