me neither. I usually use a rucksack or a satchel

I use big bags all the time. But i'm fussy about bags whether they are small or big. They must be able to be slung over my neck and sit against my hip. I dont like bags that i have to hold, although i do have a few, but they are usually for parties.
I think I have a thing for red bags, for some reason I'm always drawn to them.
So, todays dilemma:
I think I say "So" far to often - I'm going to work on that. Anyways, I was home for Thanksgiving and I bought to new pairs of boots. One brown one black. They both have about a 2 in. (5 cm) heel. I wore the black ones on the plane coming back home and by the time I got back to Louisiana it felt like I was walking on marbles. I wore the brown ones earlier this week and it was like walking on clouds (ok not clouds but they were comfortable). What gives? Do I have to practice on the black ones or are they a lost cause???
I take it the brown boots and the black boots are not the same style? I dunno. Shoes can be so difficult. I need shoes that look decent but are comfortable to walk in as I have to walk downtown from the parking garage to the office and that includes about 3 pairs of the many cheap shoes I own that I bought when walking wasn't such a big deal as the other office had front door parking.
I don't suppose you can just take them back can you?
You know, I always thought it was just me. But, I buy boots, shoes, ankle boots on sale and I usually get a brown and a black pair. But the brown ones are always more comfortable. I don't have any idea why unless it's just the leather or the way they treat the leather to use different dyes. I always wear my brown boots/shoes out but never the black ones.
I am just the opposite. I am all about black shoes. My brown slides are hideous. They're quite cute, but they creak when I walk. My brown boots are uncomfortable. I don't like brown. Oh, and about taking them back? I don't know if you bought them at a chain or what, but if you didn't, I guess taking them back isn't an option seeing as how you bought them out of town.
Granny you're right!! I never thought about it until you mentioned it but I had another pair of black boots that I ended up disliking and I have a pair of black loafers that I'm ready to throw out the window.
I don't think I can take the current boots back I wore them outside.
I've decided that I'm going to buck up and now only buy shoes for style not for comfort and my feet will adjust. I actually think I lost the ability to walk in heels, is that possible? I've only been on one date since I moved and I wear steel toes at work...
yes that is possible. I use to walk around in heels alot. Then along came two years of archaeology with its flat steel toes, and almost three years of airport with flats and nowheels kill me.
How is your work going Niamh?(love the new status btw, I always assumed you were 100% both :p)
Speaking of new boots!!(and a new skirt, for that matter)

I love them so! Although, they aren't that comfy...
those types of boots are all over Ireland at the moment. In fashion.
Guess what everyone! I'm going to the hairdressers tomorrow! I havent been to one in over seven years!:p (sister was a hairdresser) Might post a pick of my new hair when i'd done!:D
Are you getting something major done? I just got bangs this last weekend which was huge for me...although I went kind of half-arsed and just got wispy side swept bangs but still, a big change since I haven't had anything even remotely resembling bangs in over 20 years.
I decided to make the choice to not really get my hair CUT for a long time. The past few times that I went, NOBODY did what I asked them to do. I even tried a couple of different places. Nothing turned out right. So, I have just decided to give up for awhile. Trim my hair on my own, when necessary, and that is it. But.....
if I decide to go, I think it will be to get bangs. I haven't had bangs in, I'd say, 12 years or so. I really want to have a change again. Bangs (hopefully) should be something that they do right!
That sounds kinda like me. My aunt did my hair for years, but the last year or so she's been really super busy, so my haircuts were getting less and less frequent. So the other day I was at the mall with some friends and we had some time, so I decided to get my hair done. I hadn't been to the hairdressers since, maybe the year 2000. so yeah. I'm happy. I got bangs and it's way shorter now. If I was at home I'd post before and after pics.
how do y'all stay away from the salon for so long? I love to go! I am addicted to it. I love to get my hair color changed (not much - it's always some variant of blonde highlights and my recent experiment with red). I am not so experimental with my haircut since some man cut my hair unevenly and acted like it was a style move instead of his ineptitude. But the salon is good - the place I go to now has all these great smells and I get a free head massage with every cut using aromatic oils. Although, I must say, with this part time work and student life, I may have to cut back.
My parents are really thrifty so I've never gone to salon (yes, I can hear Shalot chocking on her breath :p). I last cut my hair three years ago and usually cut my own ends in the bathroom. :p
(oooh, does anyone have any idea what I should put in it, since I moved to a cold climate? I'm confused now!)
Actually, yes it is an Aveda salon. Luckily, I found a good person who knows how to cut hair (at least mine anyway), but I have received a crappy hair cut from another Aveda salon so I understand that. They can put all kinds of good smells on your head but if your haircut doesn't work, then it's no good.
I love going to salons because I love having people play with my hair and the smells are nice too. I go somewhere different everytime because when I decide to get my hair cut, I want it done now, within say, 15 or 20 minutes, I don't have the patience to call a specific person or salon and make an appointment. I'm all about instant gratification. :p
Well my sister always cut it for me, but my hair is half way down my back.
I dont know what to get done. Trimmed and my layers trimmed but i dont know if i'm going to get a colour of copper highlights and styled...
Yep that sound like my life. The reason why i last went to a salon back in 2001 was because my college friends made me.
btw, what are bangs?
I usually go to the salon about once a year. I've been going to the same place and use the same person for a few years now. I go to JCPenneys. Its a department store but they have a salon in it. I found this really good hairdresser there and everytime I go there she remembers me. She knows exactly how I want my hair done. I have never been disappointed with her. Every time I go she can tell I trimmed by own bangs.
 Its a fringe! Yeah i had a fringe recently but it grew out and now i have a side sweep. Got my hair done. Much like it was but she blowdried curls into it.(which have practically fallen out but its nice.
I should have known it was trouble because the aveda hairdresser kept saying my previous hairdresser made a lot of mistakes but I think my previous hairdresser followed the curl of my hair whereas the aveda guy probably did it technically correct as if I had straight hair. Thats my hypothesis at least.
You've got me thinking that I should try an aveda salon in my new town.
I always wind up growing my hair almost to the middle of my back and then donating it to chop it real short. Everytime I chop it, I tell myself that I want to keep growing it long again and not chop it. It's getting to be the chopping time again.
My cousin's wife has her hair nearly to her knees! No joke! It's beautiful, but she once went to the beach and didn't bother to put it up. She spent two hours that night trying to comb it out.
my hair... my poor hair has gone wierd... and the other day I look in the nirror and my whole scalp was peeling... I thought it was terrible dandruff ( some ho appearing overnight) but now Im pretty sure what happened was I was so tierd I forgot to rinse the shampoo out of my hair and it dried in great white soapy flakes..
when I have time...
I know the feeling!
Humm so IM really sick of these split ends and I think I may just go whole hog an shave my head and start from scratch...
my mum says that shaving is a bad idea because my hair will grow back prickaly and irritate me, so the question is has anyone here by anychace had to shave their head?
And how long till it grew back... my hair is nearly mid back length again now... so obviously I dont mean all the way back but a decent covers the pointy tops ofmy ears length,
I have moderate to sever psoriasis and I have considered shaving my head several times in order to treat my scalp more effectively but have never gotten up the nerve. I'd be interested in knowing if any other women here have ever done it too.
