well, there is a relation between pregnancy and lactation, but you don't have to have ever been pregnant to lactate. it's about demand. if there is a consistent demand there will be milk. I was shocked when I learned about all of this too. I was a la leche league leader for a while and I had to learn all kinds of stuff. Did you know that there have been times when men have produced milk for their children. I guess if it's that or the baby starve to death- but I can't imagine my husband's hairy nipples doing the job

I think you can also take some hormones that would simulate the end of pregnancy if you adopt a baby and wish to breastfeed. It is really amazing how the whole thing works.

Doesn't breastfeeding make your breasts all saggy?

age makes themsag a bit. Pregnancy makes them sag a bit, breastfeeding won't make them sag any more than just being pregnant will. there's lots of old ladies that didn't breastfeed with saggy boobs- the truth hurts sometimes, but it happens to everyone sooner or later- big or small

Good answer. Gravity will make them sag with no help from kids or breastfeeding:lol: The real key is getting back into shape after having those babies. Doing the same type of excercises men do to shape their pectoral muscles will help to perk them back up a bit. Gravity will eventually win anyway, depressing but true. Being in good shape helps a bunch, though.

oh. thanks! Ever since my cousin's wife got pregnant she's been all fat and stretch-marked, when she used to be skinny as a pole. I don't mind being a but plumb but i thought the same might happen to me.

Childbirth is still scary thought.

I loved giving birth, I really did. every time. Even that last one and that was a bit rough and I ended up having a c-section, but I still loved it. The c-section went great. I have giant babies. the last one was 11 1/2 lbs. my smallest was 8-9, I had a 9, and I had one that was 10-9 and gave birth to him at home- all of it was great! It doesn't have to be a scary thing. I think the scariest part is just when you don't know what's going to happen

It just freaks me out, I'm a bit of a commitment phobe too. So i don't think i would ever meet a man with whom I would actually want to have kids. My mother had my brother, then went barren, she had to take medication to have me and then she had about 7 abortions. I don't want to be like that.

You gave birth at home? Like lamatze?

:lol: It really isn't too bad. I had one C-section and one in the hospital. My son was 9 weeks early and also feet first, so they just did the c-section because it was less risky. My little girl was a VBAC, meaning no c-section, and she came out fine as well. I had to be in the hospital to have her, just in case, so I took advantage of the epidural. I still think if I had planned on another I could have done a home birth and not taken meds, but it sure was nice when labor got rough:D The end result is worth so much more than anything you have to do to get it. I don't regret a single stretch mark or even the extra 40 pounds put on over the course of 2 pregnancies. Granted I'm working on taking off some of the weight, but I don't care if I ever see 117lbs on the scale again. It just doesn't matter that much when you see what you get. I never wanted children as a teen, and then married young. That also wasn't in the cards for me. Anyway, after 5 years of marriage and two wonderful kids... I wouldn't change a moment of it. All I can think now is that I would have been so alone if life had went the way I planned.

You all do know I will not sleep at night. Most of my nightmares include childbirth. I think is beautiful and strong (and is one of the reason i think women are stronger than men). Children are beautiful indeed and worth it.....it's just i'm a wimp! And the tv videos I watched on it don't help either.

TV is not real. I don't think most women really scream and cry and all of that stuff. Most all of the women I know have enjoyed the actual giving birth part of having a baby.

Motherhubbard is right. You can't trust the TV. I've yet to meet a woman who actually screamed and made the fuss you see on TV. My sister, who has to be the world's biggest sissy, made it through with no medication or anything.

I think it's scary. I can totally understand that. it's hard not to be scared when you don't really know what's going to happen, but it's not as bad as TV makes out. That's really just a laod of crap for the most part.

So, nothing you watch on tv is realistic? It made me become a celibate! (is that the correct term?)

Well, I don't know if I would say I enjoyed it, ;) but it wasn't too bad. For me, the actual delivery was a piece of cake, it was the labor leading up to it...all 36 hours the first time and a paltry 21 hours the second...that was the tough part. :rolleyes: But still, I managed both without medication so obviously, I managed. The thing is, you get through it anyway you can because you have to and really, it's much scarier to watch someone give birth than to actually do it, you're kind of in a zone, focusing on the job at hand.

I finally found some eyeshadow I can use. It's Line N Design from Avon, but of course, they're discontinuing that too. Anyhoo, I was trying to put on mascara yesterday. I don't normally wear mascara but I got some as part of a free gift so I decided to pair it up with my line n design and it was a complete disaster.

The bristles didn't appear to have too much black gook on them but when I brushed it on my lashes, I ended up with clumps and it was in my line of vision, so I ended up taking all of my make-up off and starting all over sans mascara.

This mascara was supposed to be the expensive kind (but like I said, mine was free) What's the dealio? What am I doing wrong?

How old was the mascara shalot?

You should use a lash comb after, I've found that really cheap dollar store mascara doesn't clump :alien: :alien: :alien:

I find that if you put it on slowly and twist the brush at the same time it doesnt clump together. Maybe you were applying too much?

It's always better to put on two very light coats than one thick coat. Use a lash comb between coats and it'll help it to not clump.

I don't know. I just got it, but like I said, it was part of a free gift, and they probably took their oldest stock and put it in the gifts.

What's a lash comb? I think I might have one I got as part of a gift set of makeup brushes last year. One side of it is for combing your brows - I think. I guess maybe the other side is for lashes. I don't know.

hey girls, what's your opinion on Rooibos tea? is it an obscenity to drink it with milk? some people seem to think so. I like it with milk, though. but then I have almost any tea with milk, except herbal/fruit or lemon tea of course (which leaves black and rooibos)

Rooibos-tea isn't tea at all, actually. It's not made out of tea at all, but it's very similar and called tea therefor, I guess. But I actually like it. I bought it about two weeks ago, and I have it every morning before I go to school.

I usually don't have milk in it though, just one teaspoon of sugar and I'm happy!

If I'm having Red Chai, then I drink it with milk. I drink lots of tea with milk. My favorites are black teas, green chai, and red chai. I drink plain green or rooibos tea with just a little honey or nothing at all. Nothing is more common for me, because I'm not a fan of sweet tea.

While we're on the subject of tea... what does everyone think about using the herbal teas blended for things like cold care and easier sleeping at night. I find that I can be a bit of an insomniac if I have too much on the brain, so I picked up a medicinal tea blend to help me get to sleep easier. It has passionflower, chamomile, linden flower, catnip, and hop strobile in it. I also buy the cold care ones during the winter to help ease the cold a bit. I think the nightime relaxation one really works. Last night was the best night of sleep I've had in a long time, but I may have been plain exhausted too. So, what do you all think? Are they worth the money and the trial, or is it a waste of money?

I prefer to buy my fresh plants (really cheap) and make the tea myself. Here we use tea for everything. Want to sleep? drink tea. Have a cold? more tea. Want to get pregnant? tea!

I think buying premade tea is just wasting money when you can make the mix yourself.

hm, that sounds delicious. I sometimes drink a medicinal herbal tea when my tummy is giving me trouble and it usually helps. over here, herbal teas (camomille/ peppermint/ fennel/ mixed herbs) are generally much more common than e.g. in England, though.

I would love to make my own tea; how do you make it???

yeah, what do you mean by pre-made tea?

i brew my own tea, but I buy little bags at the store and I make it at home.

I guess you're talking growing the tea, and drying it out yourself before using it? sounds like it would be far superior.

Well it depends which kind of tea you're making, some plants are better without being dried: like mint and chamomile.

You just find the plant, boil it and drink the tea.

(I eat the leaves too, they're good for you)
