Oh, hello up there, I just read Brothers Karamazov a couple months ago--great book.
I had to read a couple reviews/commentaries (that's actually how I came across this cite!) on it to really appreciate its true depth--especially on chapters like the Grand Inquisitor--I didn't realize some of the deeper metaphors until after I had read it.

I haven't read much of the Russian classics yet, I'm too much into Dickens and classic sci-fi right now! I have read Crime and Punishment, though. Excellent book. My dad says that the sci-fi classics aren't worth reading. Well a big >: p to him. :lol: This isn't the place to talk about that, however.

I'm not a native speaker either, but I've been studying English for several years. I'm from Brazil, and my mother tongue is Portuguese.
I love literature, and that's why I'm here. Two of my favorite books are Pride and Prejudice and Lord of the Rings. I also like some Brazilian writers (Machado de Assis and José de Alencar, for example), but I think most of you have never heard of them.
Actually, when it comes to books, I like reading all kinds of things, from classics to best-sellers. :D
Good Evening. I am a student who is critical of America's public schools, yet continues his memberships at these establishments. I just refound this site after, having used the information on it to write a report on Macbeth, returned to find that I could read entire books on here. I like the pseudonym Dante Wodehouse because it shows two completely opposite authors who both are really cool. I like my anonymity and retaining modesty ("Who likes a braggart, however honest they be?" I say to myself), so I will say nothing more about myself.

I had just finished Sea Wolf earlier this week and was looking for more of his work. I decided to start reading Mutiny of the Elsinore, and finished it in 2 days. Introductions have always been difficult for me, I don't know what to put or how to organize it. I afraid of sounding dumb or making grammatical and syntactic mistakes. Truth is that I am not a good at writing, I had never been (probably will never be). My thing is painting. Still, below it, are books. I adore reading. I read everything, from graffiti in public toilets (it's pretty cool) to advertisements on the street. I am currently very attracted by the 19 century, Becquer, Poe and Tolstoy (specially the first one).
My other passion are films (I considered once in becoming a film director), lately Chinese cinema, Music ( Chopin and Queen) and languages. I started a month ago mandarin.
I could add a few more things..but I'm tired. I hope to meet people that share my love for books like I do( In fact...thats the reason why i joined this forum, because the people I know hate reading) and I guess I'll you all around. Bye.

Hello all! I am a 15 year old high school student. I just joined yesterday and I don't know where to begin. As you can probably tell from my username, I love British literature! I also enjoy reading philosophy, fantasy, and science fiction. I am an all around bibliophile, however (lol I should have to say most people on here are). I enjoy reading in English and French and I hope to be proficient enough in Latin/Greek, so as to read in those languages. I love listening to Classical music, Jazz, and Broadway music and I have been playing the violin for about 7 years and piano for about 2 years. I also love dancing, singing, and acting and playing chess! I hope this suffices as an introduction, and I hope to start posting soon. Nice to meet you all! P.S. I enjoy maths and sciences, too.

Hullo. I'm 14-years-old and a freshman who just found this website the day before yesterday. I enjoy writing poetry and recently began writing on my first book 'Pyro'. I enjoy English, literature, and dusty volumes of old, old books. I'm into japanese culture (read: anime + manga) for some reason. I'm cuban/american and speak both french and spanish. I love singing (even thought i can't,) acting and playing the guitar. Chess is cool too, but my hobby is book collecting. I hope to meet more new people who share my interests too!

I have a private library of books that I have collected that i have read and want to read. My collection consists of about 1500 titles, some are rare books. I plan on donating my books, which I have bought with my own money, to public libraries and other community and charitable causes, once my collection reaches 10,000 or more.
Gasps! You plan on donating your books?! *faints in horror*
(Sobs, I wish i counted as a charitable cause). I've only managed to collect 700 hundred books in the three years I've been in this country. (dirt poor, nods, nods.)
