What is your favorite space fiction book?
I enjoyed 'Macroscope' by Piers Anthony.
Do you have a favourite fantasy fiction novel?
Wow, that takes me back. A lot of Piers Anthony's earlier stuff was pretty good; his problem was that he'd have a good idea, then decide to make it a trilogy or series without enough new good ideas to follow the first. The only series I think I liked all the way through were the Cluster quintet, the Bio of a Space Tyrant quintet, and the Omnivore/Orn/Ox trilogy, and maybe also the first Split Infinity trilogy. Rings of Ice and Triple Detente were also decent standalones. I haven't read anything of his since the mid-'80s (a.k.a my late teens), so take most of the above with a dash of salt for memory gap and another dash for my much younger tastes at the time.
Anyway, I don't think I can do a favorite fantasy. Too much apples and oranges, and even a list of possibilities would be too long.
Another genre that doesn't get enough respect: How about a favorite horror novel?
Um.. about the only horror fiction I can say I enjoy is Lovecraft, whom I love.. and I love Poe although neither of those authors wrote many novels.. unless I am sadly uninformed and in need of reading some novels. :] Other than that I can't stand horror really.. I think Stephen King is brilliant in some stories (Hearts in Atlantis, Wizard and Glass) but I only picked up The Shining once and literally only read a couple of sentences. I can't think of any other horror novels.. maybe I should give them a try because a zombie novel might be okay. Well, technically, "Legend" is about the only horror novel I've read, so I guess it's the best.
