In the words of Green Arrow: "That'd be nice, too." :brow:
So, pretty bird, you ready?
gah! You cant call her a bird :mad: out of this thread shoo *Picks up rolling pin and starts waving it about*
sorry but I just got an umbrella that says
"Im a lady not a bird" I hate it when girls are called bird :sick:
'Twas a reference to Black Canary. :confused: Never heard just plain "bird" used before.
It's true Nightshade. Put the pin down. It's one of Robin's far too copious nicknames for me, and there was nothing derogatory about it.
Deal, Robin. You're on. But beware, I might break you...
50's sexism verses comicbook sweetheart, gotta love words :p
bird is also british slang for girl. :) It's actually much better than all the other slang words, like chick etc. which are so overused it isn't funny anymore.
It is often used along these lines:
"Wow, look at those birds."
Also used when bird spotting. :D which is a different sport altogether from what you might think. :goof:
Not that it bothers me. In the summer, I love to sit down, get a drink and do some bird spotting. :nod: Nothing derogatory about that. I don't yell at the birds, that'll only scare them away.
Yes, and I face sexism head on! Deal with it, boys!
And yes, please don't yell at me. I won't get scared away, but the end result won't be pretty...
Well bird, chick, duck, chuck Oh how I hate duck one of my sisters friends came to the library once ( hes older than her year he was in mine and Ill tell the truth that is I thought he was rather nice till he said chuck, or, duck or love or one of those annoying phrases I mean I do know nothing is meant by it but it still annoys me.
I get alot of 'Sister's as well becuase I cover my head and I always have to bite back the retort I AM not your sister I dont even know you.
~~~~end rant
~hugs Nightshade~ Tis alright. We still love you, duck or no.
and bird or no! :D
tell the truth, no matter how sexist, i still LOVE that nickname/euphemism/any way you use it! :p though i've never actually heard anyone use it before . . . :(
thats ok mir! ive only heard it from watching waaaay too many 50s movies/tv shows..*shudders*
and im sure youve heard it before and just havent realized! like...uh...birds and the bees example? at least i think the birds are the girls in that one...
huh no actually the birds and bees are both guys in that one...its about pollination.
~sings song, "I'm A Girl Watcher"...~
It seems rather insulting in a variety of ways to call a woman "broad."
