'Say anything' I sometimes just really want to watch a movie about teenagers from the 80' and maybe early 90' until Clueless ruined them. They show a totally different image of girls than movies do today
it's no Hughes but pretty good
I had a Paul Thomas Anderson marathon this week, for some reason.
Boogie Nights - 8/10
Magnolia - 9/10
Punch-Drunk-Love - 8/10
The Master - 10/10 (Probably my favorite movie of 2012)
Brilliant, brilliant film-maker. Can't believe I'd only seen one of his movies (There Will Be Blood) up until a few days ago.
Taken 2
Score 7/10
The action seemed pretty good and the bad guys lose. The only problem with the movie is the way the wife and daughter get hysterical and then for some odd reason cooperate.
The first Taken was OK as well. Again, the bad guys can't shoot straight and get what's coming to them.
Somewhere directed by Sofia Coppola. 9/10 I loved it. Such a spare little movie, yet it says so much.
War Horse by Steven Spielberg. 7/10
Perfect Pitch

I hate musicals, and glee and glee. This was musical done right. Funny and ridiculous, but with something serious and positive to say as well.
I watch a ton of movies, (work at a video store) and for horror fans I want to recommend Sinister. Best horror film in years, sadly.
'All the little animals' I saw it in class, nice idea but I'm not a big fan of drama. 6/10
Not to pick on you but this is a pet peeve of mine.
Drama is the basis of every story ever told. Saying you don't like drama is like saying you don't like movies.
Watched The Evil Dead for the first time last night. Outstanding independent film.
I'm not sure whether its more inspiring or depressing that a low budget movie from the early eighties was scarier than most horror today.
8/10
I watched the documentary The Forgotten Bomb. It had some value in reporting measurements of radioactivity. But it was most stupid in grasping the beginning and continuity of the Atomic Age.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, I watched it with my friends and enjoyed. 8/10
We Need To Talk About Kevin - 8/10
A movie I've known about for a long time but never wanted to see because how dark it is. Well, I saw it and it's dark as expected but it's also very well done. An excellent psychological thriller.
I watched the documentary on Herbert Hoover, Landslide. Very accurate overall. FDR took the progressive ideas of Hoover in the 1920's and acted upon them. Hoover, who was expecting the people to freely put a stop to recession, got annoyed by FDR claims to his package and never talked to FDR again. As the great depression took place, FDR won by landslide with Hoover's ideas and bills of the 20's.
Escellent, very historical piece.
When FDR died, Hoover was eventually recognized for who he was by Truman, but it had been too late to appease the bitterness he felt against FDR's so-called New Deal even when it was his own.
It was 2 for 1 day at the library.

Score: 2/10
However, the bad guy did shoot straight except at the end.
At the end, the good guy rammed into the bad guy's car and then the good guy chased the bad guy. Then came the final hand-to-hand fighting and the good guy gets kicked around a bit and then he kicks the bad guy around until it's all over for the bad guy. I hope I didn't spoil it for anyone.
Dinner for Schmucks

Enjoyably funny.
