Hath no one witnessed a good movie lately? Okay, I'll go! Last movie I saw was yesterday and it was EXCELLENT!

Everything's Illuminated

It's a wonderful, thoughtful, hilarious, sad movie that deals in an intriguing way with the holocaust. One would think it's 'Jonfren's' journey (Elijah Wood as Jonathan) but it's a journey they all take seeking the past.

It started off in a slightly off beat way that had me wondering if it was going to be a little anti-Semitic but probably a quarter of the way through I saw that it simply couldn't be and I wasn't disappointed. I'd like to say it's life affirming but I guess what I thought about when I left the theater was that everyone should see this movie or a movie like it so they never repeat the mistakes, so they never hate, never teach children to hate. It's a stunningly filmed and wonderful first time achievement for Liev Schreiber who directed it.

I don't want to give anything away but I'd love to hear what anyone else thinks. Unfortunately it's probably not going to be shown at major theaters. We're blessed with two art theaters here that I love AND they have real butter (cholesterol be - uh - be away with you!) and the best popcorn in the city.

Didn't mean to digress so. Go see this movie! It is PREMIUM!!! :D

A Clockwork Orange - Against my mother's appeal, I rented it. I already read the book, and Kubrick's adaptation helped me see Burgess' "mad world" more clearly. Much was cut out from the book, but it still manages to get Burgess' point across: Which is more valuable, the ultimate triumph of good, or the choce between good & evil?

Because I liked the book better, I give the film a 7.5

Elizabeth Town - a good enough movie with plenty of cute and funny moments. Orlando is gorgeous, Kirsten really very good. Starts to get a little slow towards the end but the ending is rather good ol' Cameron Crowe. I liked it pretty much.

Serenity- enjoyable, fast, fun, no extended love scenes for potty breaks though so I had to hold it.

How was the Corpse Bride? I really like Burton's movies, but I haven't made up my mind on this one yet.

The last good movie I saw was "Moulin Rouge." This was a milestone for me because I HATE musicals. But the first ten minutes of "Moulin Rouge" was the most surrealistic footage I ever saw in a film and I was so spellbound I had to keep watching.

I loved the way modern songs were mixed into a movie set in 1900 Paris -- the original "summer of love" several decades before hippies made their appearance. The characters were fascinating: the English writer, Toulouse LaTrec and his band of anarchist merry-makers, and the doomed carbaret singer-dancer played by Nicole Kidman. Now that's entertainment!

I seldom go to movie theaters because I don't like 99% of new films. I prefer watching old movies from the 30s, 40s and 50s on cable TV. They are highly-stylized portrayals of a completely different world. Film noir is my favorite genre -- Bogart, Cagney, Robinson, Garfield, Mitchum, etc. Call me old-fashioned, but Hollywood doesn't make movies like that anymore.

I felt so bored last night and I intended to watch movies shown on HBO channel til my blue was faded away. I got it over with "win a date with Tad Hamilton" and I was sleeping while watching the later "nick of time". But I still remember quite well how it went on in the first movie. I like many quotes given out there, the most memorable one to me is said by Angelica:

My score for such the quotation is 10/10. As for the cast and their actings: 9/10...(well I like Kate Bosworth's smile). Plot...hmmm not much new 6/10 :p

Gladiator (in school, if you'll believe it. My Latin teacher was retiring and gave up on us the last few days of class.)

Saw The Corpse Bride yesterday, very nice, the characters & the stop motion technique is really a joy to behold.
Fans of The Nightmare Before Christmas shouldn't miss this one.

Yesterday, I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. A qood critic of nowaday's society and relations. For the meaning of the story, I give 9/10.
