What was the last thing you gave up on because it was too difficult?
My dissertation. Just this morning. I guess I'll have to un-give it up some time soon, but for the moment it can bite me. :crash:
Favorite indulgence?
Hmm, I have so many indulgences: buying books I cannot afford, sometimes sleeping too much, and walking into natural scenic areas.
To the person below me: do you consider yourself extroverted or introverted?
The latter, esp. in real life, it's tad easier in cyber reality
What is the first thing you do in the morning? (aside of waking up of course ;))
different for during week & weekend.
During week: Switch on radio.
Weekend: Throw alarm clock across the room.
What CD is in your stereo currently?
LMOA!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:DQuote:

rock or pop?
rock indeed...
god or dog?
dog for sure... though I do type 'god' at times... me and typos ;)
Do you like HUGE horses?
kinda afraid with them..always think that they'd bite me :D
do you like rats?
yep, cute cuddly little things
turtles or tortoises?
Both look adorable, but, for pets, I would prefer turtles, they being much smaller and easier to adjust an environment.
To the person below me: coffee, tea, soda, juice, or water?
Soda, although I'm trying to cut back.
Paper or Plastic?
err paper means wood/tree
unrecyled plastic means pollution..
dead end..
how bout u?
I usually alternate, depending what goes in the bags; wet perishables soak through paper quite easily, while plastic always seems to store less.
To the person below me: we have explored music and poetry, what general books have had the greatest impact on you, either fiction or non-fiction?
Anything written by Umberto Eco. Most of all "Foucault's Pendulum"
what do you think is the most amazing thing in the world?
The fact that romantic love is so surprising and all-consuming that every person thinks he or she is the first to feel that way.
That is also my explanation for why people insist on writing romance novels even though there's no new story to tell...
What is the best love story (story or novel) you've ever read?
hehe.... tricky... don't really read sappy love stories, but i suppose my own life could become one pretty soon...yes..... i too beleive i'm the first to feel that way.. but it's true, honest! Nobody else has a clue! :)
Okay, besides that...
What is żour favourite shade of blue?
Probably the blue color the precious stone, lapis. Every time I visit a geology store nearby, I admire the shade.
To the person below me: what are your favorite (if any) and least favorite areas of science, and why?
Favorite= I like studying evolution, or Cro-Magnon, etc, because history is one of my strongest points [and science really isn't], and the scientific theory of the first men and women on this earth is about as close to history as you can get in science... or astrology...I've always been fascinated by the sky.
Least Favorite= molecular science...thinking too hard about the structure and function of tiny little units makes me dizzy. ;)
I'm delving my inspiration for this next question, from the delicious Cadbury chocolate I'm eating: best type of candy in the world?
Starbursts, or Mike and Ikes, no Red Vines.
Beer or wine?
Wine, especially red, such as pinot noir; I have had few kinds of enjoyable beer, Corona as one.
To the person below me: how did you discover this site?
Through trying to find an online edition of The Phantom of the Opera.
If you had to be born in another time period, which do you think you would be most suited to?
Sometime earlier this century, either 30's or 40's. Maybe even 20's, I like the idea of frequenting speakeasys.
If you could spend a year traveling, all expenses paid, where would you go first?
Uninhabited island
Would you spend the whole year traveling or would you visit a few places and stay there for more than a few days at a time?
I would choose 30 places and divide up my time between them. You cant get a feel for the soul of a city in just a few days.
What is the best city you have ever visited.
The problem with this question is defining the terms "best" and "visited." ;) Haha. I'm going to add "city" to my list of questionable terms and answer: Pompeii. Mmmm. :) If I ought rather to confine myself to a living city, I must confess I find Paris quite wonderful.
An equally dubious question: What is the most exotic place you've ever visited?
Internet
As my answer is kinda nonsensical, same question.
Hmm, 'exotic' I accept in a few different ways, also considering that I have travelled little. I visited Las Vegas, Nevada once, and thought it exotic in its own way, though I also somewhat disliked the place; the label of the most naturally exotic place I have visited, however, probably belongs to either the Sierra Nevada Mountains or, a small place here in Oregon, called Silver Creek Falls - a hike featuring countless waterfalls.
To the person below me: thinking of travelling, if offered, would you ever travel to space and orbit the Earth?
(I have heard of such future 'vacations')
First, I would like travel around the world -not necessarily in 80 days- before venturing a trip to the space.
What is the last programme you watched on TV?
Hellboy DVD if that counts.
Have you seen Hellboy? If so, did you like it?
Not really...
spiderman or superman?
Of course Superman! (There is no comparison!)
What's your favorite cereal?
Cocoa Puffs. I used to experience delusional episodes of nearly psychotic proportions which were triggered by the Cocoa Puffs. You could say that, in a sense, I was cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. But now I am taking medication which allows me to calmly consume the Cocoa Puffs.
Do you own a bicycle? If so, what kind?
I do, but I'm afraid I have no idea what kind of bike it is. I think it's a mountain bike.
If you had to live on one food for the rest of your life, never eating anything but that one dish, what would you choose?
Hmm, probably some kind of Italian-Greek food, which does not quite narrow my choices, but I have also grown very fond of this Indonesian ginger candy called ting-ting-jahe.
To the person below me: right now, what sounds do you hear in the background?
Crickets?
ting-ting-jahe... heh... :D
Is there a certain unusual ritual you do?
Nope.
Are you 'an egg'?
Not that I know of, but once, when my mother and father met . . . nevermind.
To the person below me: are you superstitious?
hey, that's freaky. Mono, I just posted the you were "a good egg" in another thread without reading this one first. I had to do a double take.Quote:

If anything what are one of your superstitions?
Well, I feel a little embarrassed about some of my superstitions, but a lesser one: while walking with someone a care much for, I will not walk on the other side of any divide; for example, while passing a telephone pole, I refuse to walk on the other side of it from my companion. It seems strange, I know.
To the person below me: what is your favorite kind of weather, and why?
